About this listing
This is our newest and third double guest room on Airbnb. I wanted to put in the new bed before putting it online. We have a total of 3 rooms with a double bed in each of them. You can look at the other rooms on our profile. We also have 2 fold up beds, with proper mattresses available, if needed. If you want to book more than 1 room, you will have to book the other rooms separately.
London is an amazing place, you've got music, art, sightseeing, sports, theatres, restaurants - you've got it all!
BUT it can be overcrowded, loud and stressful.
If you want to see London but don't want to stay there overnight, and would rather stay in the beautiful British countryside (50 minutes by train to central London), then come and stay with us!
We are surrounded by green fields, we have a huge garden, a swimming pool, 2 mountain bikes which you can use, you'll love the area, there's plenty to do.
We serve fresh breakfast to all our guests with a choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast, jam or bacon, eggs & baked beans. You can use the breakfast room during the day, we have free tee and coffee available. You can use this room to relax and get warm by the aga.
This is the smallest of the 3 rooms, but it's got a brand new bed in it, it has it's own sink and the room has a great view. The room has a door connecting it directly with one of the other rooms, which is particularly useful if you book both rooms, and great if you have kids.
There is free wifi/internet available in all rooms. We have one bathroom/toilet for ourselves and one for our guests.
The train station is less than 10 minutes away by car (we will pick you up and drop you off), from which you can get to London in 50 minutes or to Brighton in 80 minutes. Gatwick Airport is only 20 minutes away. If you are coming by car we are 15 minutes away from the M25 and have plenty of parking space.
The Surrey Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers endless opportunities for walks & hikes, mountain biking, as well as visits to local pubs and restaurants and picturesque local villages.
The many attractions nearby include famous country house Polesdon Lacey, the Chessington World of Adventures, Denbies Wine Estate and RHS Wisley Gardens, and a little further away are Henry VIII's palace Hampton Court and Thorpe Park.
If you need any help planning your trips, maps or advice we will gladly help out, but if you want to be left alone, then that's fine as well. We don't intrude.
So if you want to visit London, on day trips, if you want to see Brighton, but would rather stay outside of the city, then Rookery Hill Farm is the place for you.
Getting to and from the airport:
Gatwick airport: It's very easy to get to Dorking from Gatwick airport, you can get a direct train from Gatwick to Dorking Deepdene which is only 5 minutes from our house so I'll gladly pick you up from there. The journey will take 20 minutes. Alternatively you can get a taxi for about 40 pounds. If this doesn't suit your budget and you'd prefer that I pick you up and I have time, then I can pick you up for 25 pounds.
Heathrow airport: If you arrive at Heathrow airport, then you will need to go to one of the big London train stations, Waterloo or Victoria, you can get to either of these stations via tube, bus or train from Heathrow. Then from the train station you can get a direct 50 minute train to Dorking from where I can pick you up. Alternatively you can get a taxi to my house for about 60 pounds. If this doesn't suit your budget and you'd prefer that I pick you up and I have time, then I can pick you up for 35 pounds.
We live in an old house with old furniture. Please take good care of it, especially the antique furniture.
I would appreciate it if guests could take off their shoes in our house, as we have carpets that stain easily.
I don't smoke, so it would be great if you could smoke outside.
The door gets locked at midnight, if you want to stay out for longer then please arrange this with me.
If you need to use the washing machine, then just ask me.
Otherwise I'm very flexible and I hope that people treat my home like they would their own home.
