The Space

Looking (email hidden) to stay while visiting Boston? Rent my clean, modern, spacious, fully-equipped, air conditioned apartment. Off street parking, towels/sheets, and cooking utensils are included!
------
Note: I'll be returning to Boston on August 29. If you are looking to stay beyond that date, then you will be sharing the apartment with me from the 29th onward. You will have use of the green bedroom as well as the common areas of the apartment. The price for these nights is reduced from the regular rate, and there is a maximum of two guests.
-------
I'm a high school teacher who usually lives in the apartment while hosting guests in my spare room (see the many reviews for my other listing). I'll be away for the summer, so I'm renting out the entire place. My sister lives in Boston and is just a phone call away if any problems arise.

The apartment is in Somerville, a vibrant residential neighborhood that borders Boston and Cambridge. It's safe (I walk alone at night) and has tons of great bars, restaurants, shops, and arts-related events. I've owned the apartment for 11 years and wouldn't want to live in any other part of the city! It is easy to get downtown on public transportation.

I have an affectionate adult cat who oversees the apartment when I'm away. She LOVES meeting new people and is more like a dog than a cat. I'll either have a cat sitter come over every other day to fill her food and water and scoop her box or you can do it for a $10/night discount. It's super easy. See reviews of this listing and my other listing for mentions of what a great cat she is!

Amenities include:
-Free parking for one car in private driveway
-Two LCD TVs, one with cable and one that streams free movies and TV shows on Netflix
-High-speed wifi
-Use of color laser printer
-Air conditioning (units in all rooms)
-Use of washer and dryer in private laundry room in the basement (not shared with other building residents)
-Full-size bed topped with a comfortable featherbed (green room)
-Queen size memory foam bed (orange room)
-Use of sheets and towels is included
-Other amenities such as hair dryer, iron and ironing board, umbrellas to borrow, etc.
-Close to a Hubway bike share kiosk; only $12 for a 3 day pass to bike all over the city!
-Centrally located near Harvard Square (1.7 miles), Davis Square (1.8 miles), Porter Square (1.8 miles), MIT (2.8 miles), and Tufts (1.8 miles)
-If you're the walking sort like I am, you can walk to the Sullivan Square stop on the orange line (20 minutes) or the Harvard, Davis, Central, or Porter stop on the red line (30-35 minutes)
-If you're not the walking sort, there are lots of bus routes close by that go to Lechmere (green line), Sullivan (orange line), and Davis (red line); a taxi is approximately $10-12 to any of the squares listed above.
-12 minute walk to Union Square where there are coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and a great Saturday farmer's market (seasonal)
-Drive to Logan Airport in as little as 10 minutes (allow 30 minutes at peak driving times)

I prefer to rent to nonsmokers, as we are a nonsmoking building (even outside on the property).

If you are inquiring about booking the apartment, please tell me a bit about yourself and why you'll be in Boston.

  • 100 % reccomendation!
Very nice place and Stacy provided us with a lot of useful information. Maps, Where to go, What to see, etc.
The appartment is pretty big, really nice and clean & Sebastian (cat) is the most cuddly cat I have ever seen.

You'll enjoy staying here and exploring Boston for sure!

  • Beautiful apartment and Stacy was beyond helpful. I would stay here again without question. The location is perfect and the apartment is spacious, comfortable and clean. I was in town with my family including a small child and he enjoyed the apartment and also the very sweet cat. Stacy checked in regularly and followed up quickly.

  • We really enjoyed staying in Stacy's condo. It's as attractive, comfortable, and full of interesting things as the pictures suggest. Her friendly cat Sebastian was playful and fun to have around. Stacy herself is an airbnb pro- ready with transit information, maps, guidebooks, and local recommendations for all her guests...as well as a supply of breakfast foods in the kitchen.

Her estimates on walking times to the various T stations & squares were pretty (email hidden) this may not be the place for you if you're averse to 20-40 minute walks. That's really the only possible negative though, and it's far outweighed by all the positives (including things we didn't make use of, like the free parking and laundry).

Highly recommended...I can't imagine airbnb experiences get any better.

  • Our stay in Stacy's place was very confortable. She was very helpful to us and gave many instructions and information that became very appreciated. She provided us with maps, plans, etc.. The house was great for us and it was very clean. The cat was simply a toy for us, she was very friendly! We loved the colours of the house and its light.

  • I didn't meet Stacy but I was absolutely sure that she was a very very kind person. She prepared everything we needed for the trip, food, drinks, laundry, local guides. And the house was sweet! The cat was gentle. The place made our trip wonderful! :)

  • The host canceled my reservation 14 days before arrival.

  • My 3 friends and I really enjoyed our stay at Stacy's awesome, stylish apartment. It was my first experience using Airbnb, and right from the start she was very helpful and informative which made me feel reassured.

Although I didn't get a chance to meet Stacy in person, my friend who arrived first found her very friendly and helpful and she even gave him a lift to the station.

Her apartment was impressive, comfortable and perfectly set up for guests with 2 lovely cats to keep us company. I loved the breakfast selection and there was even a bottle of wine waiting for us in each bedroom! The bathroom was immaculate and the soap/shampoo/facial soap dispensers and hair dryer were super convenient. We also found the laptop left for our use very helpful also.

I guess the only thing to bear in mind is that the nearest station is about a 20 minute walk away. Not really a biggie if you don't mind walking/bussing to the station.

At the end of the day, Stacy's apartment really came through for us! We were in Boston as my friend was running the marathon and it was virtually impossible to find any reasonable accommodation at a price we could afford. It was a small twist of fate that we stumbled across Airbnb at the last moment and I think Stacy's apartment was far better than any other possible option hands down. Highly recommended!

About
I'm a high school science teacher, textbook writer, and for the past few years, an Airbnb host. I enjoy taking photos (both digital and Polaroid), going to arts-related events, walking around the city, cooking mostly vegetarian food, rock climbing, and reading novels. I am a sucker for mid-century modern design and collect old cameras and pachinko machines. I love living in Somerville and think it's the absolute best place to live in greater Boston. I'd be happy to recommend things to do and places to eat in the area. I share my space with a very friendly cat named Sebastian (nicknamed Cookie). Not only do I love hosting on Airbnb, but I always use it when traveling. So far I've stayed in great places in San Francisco, NYC, Sweden, Estonia, and Spain; this summer I'll be using Airbnb in Germany and Turkey. But my favorite place to stay is in Helsinki, Finland, where my boyfriend is currently living.
