Egidio's taxi driver friend Franco met my flight on time and was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately Egidio was unavailable to meet me when we arrived, saying it would be about 20 minutes. I waited for about an hour + then tried to reach him. Eventually I found a very helpful young man who works for Egidio named GianFranklin. Together we discovered that the previous occupants of the apartment had not yet moved out. So I went for a long walk for a couple of hours while they packed up, and GianFranklin cleaned the apartment. Not exactly the best way to start after a long overnight flight from the U.S.
The apartment itself was pretty much as pictured. Very good size for a single traveler or a couple. The bed was very comfortable, and the wifi worked like a charm. There was a tiny outdoor sitting area, big enough for two chairs and a small table (as in the picture). A nice place to read and relax between outings.
The neighborhood is quiet and very convenient to most of the major attractions. During my stay I walked everywhere: to the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Vatican, the Ara Pacis, the National Etruscan Museum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps. There are several nice cafes, bars, and restaurants in the immediate neighborhood.
Wonderful place in an excellent location that makes for peaceful evenings in Rome.
The appartment fully lived up to our exectations. The quiet courtyard and the small garden was very charming. Totally quiet at night. 10 min walk from Campo di Fiori and trastevere..... A stone throw from forum. Nice and well kept appartment. 5 stars out of 5. Thanks, and we will be back...
L'appartement est très bien situé, calme, propre, agréable à vivre le temps d'un séjour à Rome. Sa proximité des principaux sites touristiques fait que nous n'avons pas utilisé les transports en commun pendant notre séjour.
Surprisingly spacious two-level apartment close to major attractions, but showing its age - especially the kitchen/living area (quite tiny) and bathroom. The kitchen was not as clean as other AirBnb places we have stayed at; an old stained sponge had been left behind by the cleaners (in fairness, we arrived earlier than the checkin time, but left our luggage to allow cleaners to compete their work). On the first night, we saw a cockroach... which made for an interesting sleepless night for my wife... but it did not make a repeat appearance. Overall, due to the great location, this is a good option as a base to explore Rome if you don't intend to stay indoors much.
At the base of the Capitoline Hill, within 5 min walk to the Roman Forum and within 15 min walk to the Colosseum - excellent base for exploring Ancient Rome! Trastevere was a 15 min walk along the river; convenient for groceries and eating places. Downside was that the nearest Metro station was atleast 15 min, and no taxi stand until Plaza Venecia, so getting outside the immediately accessible tourist attractions involved some logistics. It is a bit complicated for taxi drivers to find this address, so have a map handy!
Egidio was very prompt in communicating with us, pre-trip as well as upon our arrival in Rome. In particular, the hot water stopped working one morning, and he prompt had a friend drop by early morning (by Roman standards!) to address the problem.
sorry when one of our guests are not satisfied. For years, we have this apartment and we never heard complaints like that. Small apartment? Maybe so, but we are in Rome, our holiday guests with a private garden and MAYBE small garden animals.
One must know how to appreciate certain location, is an old convent in 1500 ...... rarity.
you've stayed at a building ancient ..........dreams this is Rome.
Egidio made us very welcome and told us where to find things in the area. The flat was comfortable and very well located for all the main sites. In the evening we particularly liked being close to Trastevere, just across the Tiber.
Egidio was at the property when we arrived and was very welcoming and helpful with information. The property was exactly as described and a lovely quiet place in the heart of Rome.
