Great Vacation Rental situated between Kilauea and Anahola. Very affordable, perfect for those who are looking for a Budget accommodation. The Home with a View is a great location because you have everything you need at a great price, the Ocean and Mountain Views are not that bad either!
This is more of an apartment type location, than a private home where nothing is shared except the washer and dryer! The home is on a beautiful 10 acre flower farm with Organic gardens surrounding the property.
You can walk to your own private beach in approx 20 min's away. There's no better home on the island of Kauai to see the beautiful King Kong Mountain range, than from this location!
Come and see what it is like to live in Paradise on Earth!
And for those who want to go camping on the famous Kalalau Hiking trail, we have a great program for you. You can stay with us for the first few nights, return your rental car if you would like or keep it on the property.
Then we will taxi you out to the trail head and pick you up when you are finished with your adventure, so that you can return and stay additional nights with us before you return back home.
We do many wonder thing with our guest like take them on free fantastic adventures.
Please reserve your spot at the next Kalalau Beach party with us, we will be staying one night and hiking out the next day all food and drinks will be provided. Kalalau Beach parties happen the first and third Saturday during the months of June and July. Contact Big Wave Dave for more details.
What a lovely paradise location! Off the beaten path and wonderfully quiet. The room was just as described, clean and fresh with a amazing view. It was fun to visit the animals, including island pigs (which I thought would be scary), but they are actually friendly. Dave seems to offer something for everyone at this location. People were gathering in the late morning for adventurous hikes and kayaking and even scuba diving. A great place to get away from the resort style over-crowded hotels. No pool, so be prepared to go to the ocean to get wet.
Dave was a great guy with a beautiful property. The room was roomy and comfortable. We wish we had the time to go on an adventure with him. Maybe next time!
We actually got the Bamboo Hut for our accommodation which was nestled in some shady trees. The outdoor shower was terrific - no hot water but very refreshing after a hot day on the beaches. Didn't mind the compost toilet which didn't use chemicals at all - just a cup full of what looked like wood shavings dumped on top of the waste. Seemed very sanitary and efficient to us over the week. Great location to visit both the south and the north parts of the island - about an hour and a half either way. Magnificent mountain structures stood as the backdrop - some good to climb. Even though it rained quite a bit while we were on Kauai it didn't bother us much except that we didn't do as much hiking as planned due to the muddy paths. Dave offered a free 4 hour adventure tour of the north on our last day which was superb - at least 4 sights we didn't know about and would never have seen without this event. Thanks again Dave.
We went on a last minute trip to Kauai for business first vacation on the end. Our plan was to hike Kalalau trail Wed stay on the beach Wed and Thurs nights hike back Friday and stay at Daves place Friday night. We planned to have Jen the rental car/courier drop us off wednesday morning at the trailhead and pick us up Friday then leave us with the rental car. Of course plans changed and weather decided otherwise on our Hike. We ended up getting stuck on the trail when the rivers rose so fast we could not get out. We stuck it out and planned to camp on the trail for the second night and ended up being helicoptered out. So we arrived early at the trail head Thursday eve and had one of the others call Jen when they got to cell phone range and ask her to pick us up early. She was great and came and out to pick us up. She had called Dave and arranged another place for us to stay that night. We really appreciated a dry place to sleep that night and the cost was very reasonable considering the last minute extra night. Dave and Jen really helped alot. Dave came over and chatted with us in the morning. He seems like quite the adventure seeker as well and pointed out a great hike up the mountain from the house. We would normally be totally up for it but wanted a day to relax instead. Both houses were nice, clean, and quite. watch your knees on the footboard it takes a good 4-5 times of bumping your knee on it to remember. Dave is starting an adventure camp that we will totally be interested in on our next trip. We have been to Kauai many times and this location is a nice "local town" meaning if you want the shops and tourist stuff you will want a car to get to Kapaa or Princeville. We enjoyed the quite little farm and neighborhood. Great off highway road for a longer run if you don't opt for the beach or trails. We defiantly will contact Dave for a place and Jen for courier/car rentals again. We were very happy with our experience and will highly recommend them.
Dave is a very generous and friendly host. He offered daily suggestions of fun activities and free range of his amazing property. The room had everything we needed, the bed was comfortable, and the view was great.
We had a great time at Dave's place when visiting Kauai. The view is very scenic and Jen and her boyfriend are the friendliest people! The room is nice and spacious. There is everything you need including a kitchen space with utilities. The nearby beach is very private and secluded. Overall a great experience, would recommend.
Great place to stay in Kauai. Central if you plan to visit the north and the south shore. Dave is a fantastic host.
The place was a very good value in a beautiful location. Single room, below the main house, with a kitchenette, comfy bed, TV (though we didn't use it), and a (email hidden)eresting bathroom. Let's just say you should be comfortable with the person you're with. :) It's by no means a resort, it's a working farm and we were a welcome guest on their property, but it is clean, comfortable, quiet, and we didn't want for anything.
Dave and his family were super friendly, helped us get to the place (it's a bit off the beaten path, took a few calls to Dave to make it) and get settled. He also arranged a small excursion to a waterfall, which was a lot of fun and a chance to see somewhere most tourists won't get to see. We also got to meet the other folks staying on the property, which both my girlfriend and I enjoyed.
The property itself was beautiful, with goats, pigs that think they're puppies, and the ever present chickens. I saw a cat and a couple of dogs, too. You aren't forced to interact with them if you're not a fan. It is also a short (~20 minute) walk to a small beach. We went a few times and for the most part had it to ourselves.
All in all a great stay for the price, would return next time we visit Kaua'i. And make sure you bring flashlights! It gets dark.
If you're looking for a beautiful place to stay, perfectly located for exploring Kaua'i and have fantastic hosts, this is where you want to go. We absolutely fell in love with the island and this also "the fault" of Dave and his family. They are super kind and hospitable, gave us heaps of good advice and took us on unforgettable excursions. We were able to hire boogie boards, fins and a kayak so could easily venture off and indulge in all sorts of great activities. Thanks again a million, Dave!, and to everyone else planning a trip: a highly recommended place to stay!
Ahhh'awaii...stay here to exhale. The mountain view and Dave's land offered much inspiration in my overnight stay. The studio-style room itself was plenty comfortable, part of a proper home. Stepping outside to goats and such green growth was a bit of life as it should be. Much gratitude to Dave and his family for sharing.
