Village of Woodstock in the Heart of the Catskills! What's not to love? Perfect for folks looking to escape the crime and grime of NYC but not the art, culture and nightlife. One of the truly "in-town" cabins; The Rocket Room is the perfect getaway spot, a couple block walk from the bus drop off in the Woodstock town square, yet set back into a private woods. Rustic and cozy, it is filled with hand picked mid-century modern furniture and vintage kitsch. Designed by husband and wife team, Martin and Erin, a design build contractor and illustrator/fashion designer respectively. Obsessive travelers themselves, they've created a fun, funky place with all the comforts they appreciate while on the road.
The Rocket Room is ideal for a lone traveler or couple. Outfitted with a high-end double mattress made cozy with 400 thread count sheets and a feather duvet. There is the perfect writing desk set by a sunny window with active WiFi. The reading nook has a comfortable seat with a great foot rest; there's always a couple interesting magazines and books to read. While we ourselves are not prone to watching t.v. on vacation, we realize some nights cuddling in bed and watching the tube is great, so there is a small set with a dvd player and about 40 movies to choose from. The kitchenette is equipped with a toaster oven, rice cooker and coffee maker. (no stove!) There is also a fridge to store left overs (or beers!) in. You'll find seating for two at the counter top bar. The bathroom has a stand shower with great pressure (soap, shampoo and conditioner complimentary) and oversize, 100% cotton bath towels to dry yourself off. Past the bathroom is a very large walk in closet. So big that recently a visiting couple with a toddler put the PAC-n-play in there and made a second bedroom. We are child friendly (and have a pac-n-play for loan)! Please note while the RR does not have air conditioning we do provide a fan and the nights are cool in the Hudson Valley.
Location. Location. Location. The Rocket Room is located on the West end of town, about a four block walk from the bus drop off and town square. Tucked just a block off of Tinker St. in the lovely neighborhood behind the movie theater and Varga visionary art gallery. The library can be accessed by traveling the back streets of the neighborhood and has awesome programs if you're bringing kids. Everything else in town is super close. The Wine Store is just a block and half down Tinker St. Woodstock has some amazing restaurants, we highly recommend the corned beef hash or truffled eggs at Oriole 9's breakfast and the roast beef sub at Catskill Mountain Pizza. They cook their own meats! Coffee at Bread Alone is another must. If you stay May-Nov on a weekend make sure you don't miss the Woodstock Flea Market, it's half a block behind Bread Alone. If you are coming to see art, the myriad galleries in town rotate their shows often. You can also try your hand at creating art by taking a workshop at Byrdcliff (right in town) or Woodstock School of Art (just east of town). Music is never lacking in Woodstock the Bearsville theatre just 2 miles from our place has an awesome calendar of events, Levon Helm's (R.I.P.) family has got the Rambles back up and going and Colony Cafe' (walking distance) has some amazing local talent. If you are coming in the winter Hunter Mountain is a short 35 minute drive through beautiful country. If you're coming in the summer don your suit and grab a towel, the Big Deep swimming hole is just minutes outside Woodstock.
There is one car parking guaranteed for The Rocket Room but we most likely will be able to accommodate a second car, just ask in advance. We are animal lovers and so pets are accepted for a fee. We ask that they are not destructive to environments and are friendly to people, children and other animals (we have two dogs and a cat on the property). There is plenty of room on the property to tie them to a long lead but the yard is not fenced. There is a great field just around the corner to let them blow off steam.
***Unlike many places in town our prices fluctuate to seasonal availability so you are always assured a fair price for your stay
***Unlike most places in town we have no minimum requirement, even in the high season!!!
***Bad weather or bad back? Give us a call we may be able to pick up from the bus.
Pets are welcome with a $50 cash deposit we will hand right back to you at the end of your stay. No damage, then no deposit on your next visit!

That said we are also more then happy to give them quiet and privacy. It's up to the guest.
Other Things to Note
Looking for a full kitchen or separate bedroom? Same convenience, amenities and great design....
**Bohemian Rhapsody - sleeps 3, full kitchen -
Or look for our new in town rock and roll hotel The White Dove Rockotel.
The rules are there are no rules.
Which is a quote from Grease.
In reality we're not big "rule" people. We just ask that you be respectful to our property and neighbors. That you keep your children and/or animals under control. No cigarettes indoors and don't burn the place down.
I love the Rocket Room. It is rustic and basic(bathroom has been nicely upgraded since my first visit) but perfect if you want to feel like you are in the woods and yet within walking distance of the town center. The hosts are great-friendly but non-intrusive and they are nearby if you have any questions or problems. My little Chihuahua and I will definitely return.
Had a wonderful time here. The room was just as it looked in the pictures and had everything we could ever ask for. So much privacy, we felt like we had our own cabin in woods. There's also a little kitchen that was really convenient. Not to mention the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. Perfect place for a getaway and it's even dog friendly!
I had a wonderful experience staying with Martin and Erin. It was raining when I arrived and Erin met me at the car with an umbrella. She had upgraded me to Bohemian Rhapsody which was a beautiful place to stay. The suite was wonderfully done and clearly had a lot of personal touch and love to create a vintage, artistic, fun, and inviting environment. The location is great and can't say more about how lovely the experience was.
I had a great time staying in Martin and Erin's cabin in Woodstock. It's a small, old fashioned cabin just off the town. It was very cosy and comfortable. We made use out of the selection of DVDs and made use out of their recommendations for places to eat in the manual. We especially enjoyed Catskills pizza. The old school radio was a nice touch as well, it provided a lovely soundtrack to our stay. Would definitely stay here again.

About the Host, Martin And Erin
Hi! Thank you for checking out our property and taking a look at us. We've been married for seven years and friends for 15. Both of us have lived exclusively in various cities around the country since leaving our parents homes as teens. We never thought we would stop living in cities. The restaurants, the music, the art and fashion! However on our first trip to Woodstock in Sept 2011 we totally fell in love with this town. It has everything we love about cities. Six months later, tired of being pushed further and further out into the wilds of Brooklyn in a hopeless search for affordable SPACE , we decided to sell our building in Buschwick and buy this amazing property. And just like that, we're moving to Woodstock!
The property is right in town, located in a friendly neighborhood right behind the movie theater. There are two buildings on the property, the main house where we live and a one story building housing The Rocket Room studio at one end and the Bohemian Rhapsody one bedroom at the other. Separating the two apartments are Erin's art and fashion studios, so there is no noise from one space to the next. The place was built in the 1928 and we have kept many of the original fixtures. We are both life long vintage-philes and believe things were often more beautiful and better built years ago.
Erin is a known illustrator, fashion designer, author and professor (on temporary leave from Pratt Institute). Martin owned a contracting business in Brooklyn. For the past year we have both put our other businesses on hold while we worked on opening The White Dove Rockotel here in Woodstock. It's a four suite rock and roll theme hotel housed in a 1865 Victorian. The project was conceptualized and designed by Erin and renovated by Martin and a local crew. If we are full here you should check it out! It's right down the block.
As hosts its our goal to make you as comfortable as possible. We've both been traveling extensively since we were teens. Each of us has seen most of this amazing country, (Martin 49 states and Erin 48!). We have also visited over 30 other countries world wide. Like most people we really appreciate a great luxury resort but more often we try to seek out mom and pop joints that are imbibed with local flavor and puts us in contact with people that actually live in and contribute to the local community and economy.
With our spaces we have done our best to create the kind of vacation environment we enjoy. We designed our places to be funky and unusual, if you are looking for department store furniture, oversized TVs and Target decor you may want to look elsewhere. We are not trying to mimic corporate hotel culture with its perfect and bland environments. That said we offer clean, quiet spaces filled with beautifully designed vintage and modern pieces. There are interesting movies to watch and books to read. The bedding and towels are all high end as are the mattresses. We include extras like free coffee, tea and bath products. We pride ourselves on communication and customer service and strive to make sure our guests have a fantastic experience.
