Charming Brownstone Apartment, steps from the Subway, and just 4 stops from Times Square. Surrounded by Chic Harlem life. This southern cozy apartment will help you relax after a day of exploring the urban jungle that is New York City!

The Space

The apartment is a very light and open apartment, with a very Chic Southern feel (owner from Austin, Texas). The Dimensions of the apartment are very generous considering NYC standards, so the place feels very comfortable and not crowded. In the winter, the heat is controlled by a boiler in the basement of the brownstone. Tenants do not have access to it. In the summer, there will be air conditioning window units in every room. The kitchen has a large stove, refrigerator & dish washer, along with pots and pans to cook. There is no toaster oven. The bedroom has a full bed, closet and dresser and an Iphone doc/alarm clock radio.

Guest Access

The guests will be able to access the WiFi. In the living room there is cable TV along with a DVD player and a large variety of DVDs and books to use at their leisure. You'll have clean bedding and towels, There is a full kitchen as well as a coffee maker & microwave. There will be space left available in the refrigerator for groceries.

Interaction with Guests

I live here, so you will see me! I am a very open and interactive person but at the same time I am also a very busy person so I won't be present in the apartment all the time. It will be fun! :)

The Neighborhood

Surrounded by Chic Harlem life. This Neighborhood is very lively, well-lit and very safe! It is considered the new and upcoming neighborhood for students and artists in New York City! We're half a block from the famous "Silvia's Soul Food" and "Red Rooster" (Obama's favorite restaurant), as well as the brand new "Lenox Social," and many night clubs. We're a short walk from the Apollo Theatre, Central Park north, and many other Historic spots. The apartment is down the street from Starbucks, CVS Pharmacy and an Organic Grocery Store. Also, it's 5 minutes away from a hospital.

Getting around

The main form of transportation is the subway which is located 1 block away from the apartment. The 2/3 train is an express line and will take you all the major stations around the city. It is very fast and very reliable!

  • Thank you so much! Jophiel and Channing live in a really nice apartment. Whenever you have a problem or a question they are pleased to help you. We would always book this apartment again and can only recommend it for a trip in amazing NYC.

  • I would like to say that the both of them are very sweet and polite! They were very considerate and took care of us from the beginning to the end. Firstly, they enquired when we would be arriving and they responded quickly to text messages (delay when we took a cab but that's NYC for you!)
Their apartment looks like how it is minus the lighting. Their decorations are one of the nicest and truly cosiest that I have seen on airbnb. From butterflies specimen, breakfast at tiffany, art paintings, and retro bicycles... it gives their home a certain charm that reflects on these two! We didn't had much interaction because of my tight itinerary but they tried to give advice whenever they can. (they know a good breakfast place on malcom x!)
The neighbourhood was not that safe in my opinion. It was near some pubs and majority of the people there were African-American. We often came back late so we do see lots of rowdy behaviour. However, the subway station is less than 7mins walk away and there are lots of places to eat around. Just be smart and you should be safe.

Totalmente recomendado!!

  • Jophiel and Channing are a really nice couple and perfect hosts. I would recommend a stay at their apartment without any doubt. The neighbourhood is also really lovely. We did not know what to expect since it is part of Harlem, but the area is very busy, there are a lot of nice restaurants close to the apartment as well as the metro. Good choice for staying in NYC!

  • Jophiel and Channing were great! They were patient with me when I set off their smoke alarm, knocked their photos off the wall and regularly tore through their kitchen. :o)

Their front porch gave me a cool place to sip coffee and destroy the stereotype of city hustle. What I found was a friendly neighborhood where people greeted each other by first name.

If you could care less about those things, then you should know their apartment was quaint and clean. A well decorated and well equipped room, comfortable bed and clean smelling towels.

Last, their apartment is in the perfect location with great restaurants, the subway and bus stops less than a block away - which is great on a rainy day!

  • Channing and Jophiel's apartment was an excellent choice, they are both very nice and welcoming. The place is close to the 2 and 3 metro line, and only twenty minutes from 42nd St. Also, five minutes from very cool restaurants and bars with excellent food. The place is tidy and clean, totally adorable and really cozy! Definitely recommending this place to anyone going to NY and we'll too be back when visiting the city again.

  • Jophiel and Channing were very welcoming! They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable while visiting New York. I want them to know I truly appreciate their effort and hospitality, and I look forward to another visit. Thank you!!

  • Jophiel and Channing's apartment is beautiful and full of creativity. The bedroom is facing away from the street, making it less exposed to the New York sound at night. Jophiel and Channing were good hosts, sweet and helpful.

  • Jophiel & Channing were delightful hosts...very nice, very helpful. The apartment was very clean & (email hidden)ry comfortable. It was a block and a half from the Metro so it was easy to get everywhere we wanted to go. I was traveling with my 12 year old grandson and they had a whole chest full of DVD's for him during our down time. I would certainly stay with them again.
