Welcome to Lambertville!
A note about kids:
I raised 4 sons, so I know firsthand the enjoyment of traveling with kids. However, Secret Garden is a small enclave of 3 homes, all adult-owned and occupied. The bedroom has no door, so is open to the stairway, and the home is not childproof.
It is not recommended for any children under 10, and older kids by special request only please. Thank you!
I never wanted to leave... What a gem you have found when even a torrential downpour is beautiful to watch from the comfort of a day bed, listening to Ella Fitzgerald and sipping cold white wine as the rain keeps time. A beautiful, quirky, warm space to call 'home' for a few days. And Melanie was a bubbly, helpful host. I can't wait to get back some day.
The house was adorable and we were very comfortable. Great location!
We stayed at Melanie's home for one night and her home is lovely in a beautiful location. It is right in the town and you have the tow path right there to go on relaxing walks. The house is perfect for two people...a little too small for more than two. Her kitchen is the most beautiful area in the home. It truly is the heart of this home. The upstairs has a small TV area with a love seat and chair. She has DVDs available to watch and premium TV channels. The bedroom is cozy with a comfortable bed made up with quality linens.
Unfortunately, we had to cut our stay short due to a mix up in work being done on the house. I have to say Melanie handled this situation as well as could be expected. I appreciate her understanding and how she handled the problem. She is an excellent host and I would recommend staying at her home.
Melanie's house is well situated in Lambertville. It's location enables you to walk everywhere in the twin towns. The house is quirky and interesting. The kitchen is really nice and warm, especially when filled with sunshine. The bathroom is roomy and light-filled as well. It was very quiet and we slept well. Waking up to the ducks and geese was a nice addition to a lovely weekend.
Another great stay at the secret garden. Melanie is always accommodating & communicative. Will return!
We really enjoyed our stay at Secret Garden. Even without being able to take advantage of the outdoor spaces and access (having stayed in February) that this place offers, we thoroughly appreciated its location: right in the middle of town while very quiet and tucked away. The house itself is charming and full of character; it and its contents really tell you who Melanie is! She was a gracious and helpful host, full of recommendations when we wanted them. Also nice that we share her interests, based on what was evident in the house- sailing, travel, food, reading- so we especially enjoyed being surrounded by artifacts of those interests. The kitchen and sunroom can't be beat! We visit lambertville for the weekend once every year or two and will be back to Secret Garden.
very cute place!
Beautiful home, an absolutely wonderful getaway. Walking distance to shops, galleries, restaurants and a five minute scenic walk over the bridge to New Hope.
Location, location location! We have never stayed in Lambertville we have always stayed on the New Hope, PA side but what a treat it was to park the car and just walk to everything, restaurants and the shops. The house is super cozy, the bed is a tad bit too firm for us (our home bed is a tempurpedic mattress) but we enjoyed our stay and definitely look forward to returning in warmer weather to enjoy the garden.
