An About Surry Hills
Surry Hills is an inner-city suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Surry Hills is located in south east of the Sydney central business district in the City of Sydney. Surry Hills has a mixture of residential and commercial, it remains Sydney’s main centre for fashion wholesale activities.
Architecturally, Surry Hills is largely composed of Victorian terraced housing. (My house is one of these Victorian houses build around c1870.)
Surry Hills area contains a significant number of pubs, the style of the pubs including Victorian period, Federation to Art Deco pubs, and from the mid -1900s. Many of these pubs were been refurbished in recent years to modern bars and the (website hidden). The public view map are not correct the address. Thanks!
I enjoyed a week in Helena's flat which is perfectly located in Surry Hills with plenty of cafes and restaurants. It is close to the Central Station and within walking distance to CBD, China Town, and Darling Harbour and not too far from Circular Qey either. Helena was easy to communicate with, responded quickly to questions before arrival, was very friendly and attentive and the room was exactly as it shows on the pictures. Thanx.
My stay with Helena was great, very relaxed and everywhere was clean and tidy. She is a great host and very helpful with local advice and knowledge
nice area, nice place
I enjoyed staying with Helen. The place is clean, quiet and still close to everything in town.
It was my first time in Sydney, and Helena made it a most welcomed stay. Here place is very sweet! Literally a hop, step and a jump to the heart of Sydney’s transport network - Central Station. She provided helpful advice on where to go for a good meal, and locations to visit, including tips on how to get about on the train & buses. Helena was always there after a hard day’s work, for a late night chat and a tea before retiring for the night. I highly recommend the place. Rob
Had a really enjoyable few days staying at Helena's place. The accommodations are spotlessly clean and well-located- steps from Crown St and an easy walk to Central Station. Helena is a knowledgeable and attentive host who I'd strongly recommend to Sydney visitors.
I had a great time, spending at Helenas home!
She was a really helpful and attentive host. The house is so clean and orderly, i felt welcome and didn't find fault with something!
The location was pretty good to explore Sydney by foot!
Thanks for a good start to visit Australia!
I had an amazing time to spend at Helena's place. So I would like to share this experience to you who is thinking to choose here to stay in.
First thing, if you prefer cleanness and tidy, this place would be the best for you. I was amazed such a polished floor, no hair on the floor, no dust on the corner, nothing wrong with cleaning , just perfect! And a little room which you will stay in is sunny and quiet. I am sure you will enjoy your private time there.
Second, Helena is a perfect host I've ever known. She will make a fresh toast with butter and jam with a cup of tea every morning. And if you need anything, she would be more than happy to help you. She was listening my talking and advised me just like my sister. I'm sure I will visit her again.
Finally, you have to know such a convenient place where Helena's house is. You can walk everywhere from here. Also there are a very modern style library which has free wifi, nice cafés, little shops only a few minutes walk from Helena's place. I'm sure you can enjoy city life without any transportation!
Helena's place was immaculate, clean and well attended by Helena every day. She was there with breakfast every morning and answers and advice for all of my questions. Her location in the neighborhood was also great, close by a lot of nearby shopping and restaurants, and an easy walk into the Central Business District. Overall I had a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
Helena keeps an immaculate house. She is quite concerned with the comfort and well-being of her guests, and is happy to chat with you. Helena had good advice about what to see.
I slept well in the guest room, in spite of the chilly weather. I believe that Helena is getting an additional blanket for the guest room as the weather turns cooler.
The location is good, with easy access to transportation. Getting to the CBD is very fast and easy, with lots of trains running there, and buses to places like Watsons Bay go near the house.
Nearby Crown Street has plenty of restaurants. Of special note, Gelato Messina (389 Crown St.) was packed with people every night, and with good reason.
Finally, one tip: from Central Station, take the Elizabeth Street exit to get to the house via Foveaux. There is a bit of uphill near the house, but, then again, the whole neighborhood is on a hill.
