Two park-view double rooms are available in this upper floor apartment, on Mountjoy Square in Dublin city centre. This is a top floor apartment ( no elevator ) which occupies a whole floor in a Georgian House, built in 1795. With amazing front and back views of the wider Dublin city and county all the way to the Wicklow Mountains.
I LIVE IN THE APARTMENT so are available to meet your needs and welcome you to Dublin. This is a safe and gay-friendly space. Families are very welcome, as are family pets.
The apartment is on Mountjoy Square, which dates from the Georgian era between 1780 and 1800. This red-bricked house is one of the few remaining on this side of the city with original features from the first occupants.
This apartment in particular has the best views of the Square and Park. Decorated in a modern style with an artistic flourish to reflect my interest in the arts and culture while enhancing original features such as sash windows. In the hallway to the building examples can be seen of a Georgian stairway, mirroring and chandelier lighting. Just on the doorstep is Mountjoy Square Park which is open to the public and is an oasis of green in the city centre.

We stayed two nights at Martin's place, the apartment is indeed very well located.
The room is really nice, clean and calm (facing Mountjoy Square).
Martin and David are really nice and helpful!
Thanks guys !
Martin is a friendly, pleasant and helpful person. We stayed three nights at Martin's place, the apartment is nice, clean and well located. The room looks exactly as on the pictures, and there was 5 big towels. I would recommend Martin's place to everyone.
This is a fairly quiet neighborhood, clean and orderly, with a lovely park square and a number of bus stops nearby. Several businesses are just down the street, so it's convenient. The home was very pleasant, quiet, and well- secured. Our host was kind and friendly, but allowed us our space to just feel at home in the common areas. The bed was clean and very comfortable; the kitchen was well arranged and furnished with basics; and the common bath was roomy. Individual room heaters helped a lot to keep it comfortable. Hot water supply was inconsistent, but can be managed by scheduling bathing and turning it on and off between rinses. We enjoyed our stay and would return to stay again.
Thanks Martin for a lovely stay! Very friendly and helpful, great with suggestions on what to see and do. Lovely clean and comfortable room, handy location to the city. Happy to visit again!
I enjoyed my stay there. The room was spacious, the bathroom was clean, the kitchen had everything needed. The host, Martin, is a nice bloke.
Martin's place is fantastic! We loved it and have no idea why there is a bad review on here. He was very very very helpful with anything we needed. There was a premium bed in the large room with ample space for storage. There was 4-5 huge towels, a great view of Mountjoy Square, big living room area, nice kitchen, huge bathroom and great access to the city. I highly recommend Martin's place.
Nice room in this top floor flat.
From there you can do everything by walking or bike !
We really enjoy our trip and Martin is really helpful.
We stayed in this flat for a weekend and it was just fine. In general it is quite clean, warm, and quiet, with comfortable beds. However, we unfortunately had a few issues that we were surprised by due to the other reviews on the site.
Firstly, while the flat is generally centrally located, it is not in a part of town where we would have felt comfortable walking around alone at night. One night we took the bus just one stop too far and and were warned by the driver and other passengers about the danger of walking in the area. In addition to this, there is only one bus that stops close to the flat and it doesn't seem to run past early evening. Though the flat is within walking distance of the central parts of Dublin, the above factors made getting home each day a much bigger challenge than we would have anticipated.
Second, not only is the water pressure unfathomably low (as other reviewers have mentioned), but there is hardly enough hot water for even one person to take a shower or bath (and the flat is rented out to four people at a time). We literally had to boil water in the kettle to add to the bathwater to warm it up enough to clean off a bit. On only one occasion was one of the two of us able to get enough hot water to half-fill the tub. The rest of the time the water was ice cold. We understand that plumbing can be difficult in older buildings, but we felt this was far past a reasonable level.
Third, the internet is not reliable and stopped working completely twice during our three-day stay, though we only used it for basic emailing and looking up information.
Finally, though "I LIVE IN THE APARTMENT" is included clearly in the ad above, we only saw Martin one time, when we collected the keys from him outside his workplace. We would never have guessed that someone actually lives in the flat. Obviously, this is not the most important aspect of the stay, but we were a bit surprised as we had seen having at least a base level of contact with someone from Dublin as a plus when making the booking.
This is the first even slightly negative review we have had to write on AirBnB and it is not meant in a personal way toward those letting the flat, but we felt it important to mention these aspects to give the full picture to future visitors.
The apartment was located in an excellent part of town, situated right next to Dublin's very own Chinatown (with delicious restaurants I might add). Martin was a very accommodating host and was ready to receive us, even though we arrived a bit later than expected. Very friendly man and told us to call him if we needed anything! They have plenty of info packets about Dublin and maps are available in the house.
During our weekend stay, we were able to successfully walk the entire time - with our longest trek being the Guinness Storehouse which was about a 35 minute walk. The apartment is in a gorgeous building situated right in front of Mountjoy Square Park and our room had an excellent view of it. Our room was spacious, clean, heated, and had ample closet space. The living room was a cozy place to hang out in when we came back from our long days of exploring Dublin and the kitchen had everything that we needed. Overall, had a great experience and we wish that we could have stayed longer!
We really enjoyed staying with Martin, who is living in the apartpment right now. The apartment is very close to everything, on the north side of the Liffey which is a bit more quiet. We walked everywhere, no problem. The room was lovely and everything was perfectly clean. We would definitely stay here again!
