Our experience at Andre's apartment was full of UNPLEASANT surprises.
We chose Andre's apartment based from the nice photos & description posted, and also because of parking available. We made sure the parking was in a safe place. We asked via exchanging chat email, he wrote back confirmed the parking was under his building. In reality, when we arrived to his place at noon, besides a nice looking bedroom like we saw in the photos, everything else was far from correct.
Problem #1: When we met Andrea at his building, he showed us the open space parking, 200 meters from the building, next to the supermarket Carrefour. We were quite upset, so he allowed us to park outside of his garage, which was under his building like he posted on Airbnb. Then, 3 hours later, he called and asked to have the car move to another place, because the space where we parked was in the way of the neighbor's parking. The communication was very unclear and honestly, very dishonest.
Problem #2: We booked for a room with private bathroom, but that was not possible, because the apartment has 3 rooms total with 2 bathrooms to share among the guests. The 2 bathrooms are not connected to any rooms.
Problem #3: He posted that there is WIFI available, but when asked for the code, he replied that since the apartment has just finished with the construction, he hasn't the time yet to install WIFI.
Other unpleasant surprises:
A) Our bedroom's curtains can only cover 1/3 of the entire window. The window is facing the street and it's at an angle where the sun can shine through all day. When it's 40C (like we experienced), it was unbearable not to be able to keep the curtain completely close to avoid the heat and the light.
B) The entire apartment consists of 3 separate bedrooms. In the middle of the apartment is common space with a long table for all guests. There is no kitchen, no air conditioning and no fan in the common area. The lighting system in the common area is the automatic movement detection with many light bubs. With 6 guests in the apartment, the lights are constantly on, and with no ventilation of air, the common space is as hot as an oven.
C) Our room had no chair and no fridge, just a standing fan. Cold bottles of water we bought got warm after 1 hours.
D) The guests in other bedrooms make a lot of noise throughout the night (up until 5am). The keys use to lock the bedrooms & to go in and out of the apartment also contribute to the loud echo sound in the apartment.
E) The apartment building is next to a main street, very noisy at night as cars drive by with fast speed.
I use Airbnb for many years, and stayed in many places, yet Andre's place is the first horrible experience I have ever encountered.
