FYI... Spring Break seems to fill up fast as does the summer. I will note any special events to help you decide when you might want to visit the area. i.e. Billy Bowlegs, Blue Angels Air Show, Fourth of July, many Seafood Festivals, etc.
REMEMBER THIS VACATION... Anybody can rent at a high rise on the beach, sit there all day dealing with people and elevators. Choose our place; it comes with unique adventures just for you. Kayaking in areas tourists don't visit. Try a paddle board without time restrictions. Instead of driving over the Destin bridge and seeing all the people on Crab Island, let us take you there in our boat. Be part of the fun, no more sitting on the sidelines!!
GREAT LOCATION... Our home is a townhouse and is located directly on the CHOCTAWHATCHEE BAY (NOT GULF) in Shalimar Yacht Basin. There isn't any commercial or barge traffic on our bay which allows us to freely and safely do most water sports from our back deck. Steps from your room to your private deck to the pier and swimming platform you can rent our kayaks or paddle board to explore all day along our water's edge.
FISHING... Fish from your dock, or from a very stable kayak, or charter our boat for bay fishing or a Destin Charter for Gulf fishing.
NOT JUST A ROOM WITH A VIEW...Your room in the townhouse is located on the lower level with your deck overhanging the water. You can practically dangle your toes in the water from your deck. (see pictures) It is separate from the rest of the living area of the house, therefore very private. The bedroom is quiet, nice-sized, and has a new, and quite comfortable, king iComfort mattress. Your bathroom is part of your room, (no hall traffic) with an easy step-in shower stall.
You have your own entrance with a key. There is coffee in your room as well as upstairs in the kitchen. You have a refrigerator and microwave in your room.
Free wifi and cable television. Wifi on the deck too.
RELAX TIME... Watch boats, wildlife, dolphins while having coffee in the morning from your deck or while having wine on the pier in the evening.
BEAUTIFUL BEACHES... Our sugar white sand beaches are just a 10 minute drive away. There is plenty of free parking, clean restrooms, restaurants and shopping. We provide many of your beach needs, i.e. chairs, towels, umbrellas, coolers, even books if you forgot one. And we can provide a list of not-so-crowded beaches. We can also take you by boat to your own possibly private island, then pick you up later in the day. Cool!!!
SNACKS...I do not provide snacks, however you may stock the refrigerator in your room. Prepare your breakfast upstairs or walk to the local Waffle House or Denny's. Try a local's place... Joe and Eddie's, or Good Things Donuts.
THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA and in your backyard... Dolphin cruises, sunset cruises, snorkeling, diving, surfing, and there are plenty of golf courses and tennis courts.
TRANSPORTATION-PARKING-AIRPORT... Our closest Airport is VPS (Fort Walton Beach). It is 5 minutes away. Pensacola (PNS) is 1.25 hours from here. There is limited public transportation, There is plenty of free parking in front of the townhouse. And if you bring your bike, we have a garage to safely store it.
There are also complimentary bicycles if you think you need exercise.
YES TO PETS...This is our home where we live with two indoor/outdoor cats and a little dog which won't bother you or visit your room. Needless to say, our house is pet friendly. The guest room is given a thorough cleaning after pets stay and the room comes with an excellent air purifier. Even people with allergies to cats have stayed without any problems.
EXTRAS...There is a washer and dryer available for your wet swimsuits and towels. Use our kitchen and small gas grill. Hammocks on two decks.
PLUS COMMON AREA...Mi casa es su casa. Guests may freely use the upstairs common area any time of the day or evening. There is a large screen television with wireless headphones. There is an extra half bath on the second floor. Only off-limits is the third floor which is our living area.
TO TALK OR NOT TO TALK...If you come upstairs, plan on us talking with you. Otherwise we will not interrupt your stay. Let us know at any time if there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable.
FIRST TIMERS FOR AIRBNB... We really would welcome you as our guests. Ninette used AirBNB her first time for a trip to Peru and it worked out nicely. We highly recommend AirBNB for great locations, experiences and accommodations. We are hoping you will give us a try. Come and have fun and maybe relax.
Ninette was such a gracious and accommodating host with the most beautiful place! Clean, right on the water, tons of amenities. This is way better than any hotel you can get!
What an amazing find - definitely at the top of our airbnb list and most certainly on our travel path for future trips.
Ninette was out of town unexpectedly, so we spent the evening with Bill, in whom we found a kindred spirit on many levels. We could've stayed another day chatting about music, flying and motorcycles, while enjoying Fergie and the cats.
The room was quiet, clean and very comfy with a king size bed and a view of the water. The bathroom had any toiletries we needed, including extra toothbrush! Just outside the room, a snack/bev station for coffee/tea/oatmeal etc and a mini fridge.
It was too wintry for a trip on the boat/kayaks, but maybe next time when it's warmer. We look forward to our next visit and meeting Ninette.
Ninette and Bill are very gracious hosts, kind, considerate, and take the extra effort to welcome you and accomodate your requests. A very special thank you to Ninette for waking up really early just to talk to me before I leave and offering to mail the timing chip back to the race organizers for me. She even had a banana, walnuts, cookies, and bottled water packed for me to take along to the airport. I cannot say enough how great she is and her geniune concern on my well being will always be part of my treasured memories of that amazing 50-mile race weekend.
I was looking for a room with a real bed and its own shower as I have to get ready really early for the race. The massive bed is so heavenly! Warm, cozy, comfy. The room is clean, the bedsheets/towels all fresh, lots of extras on toiletries, coffee, microwave, mini-fridge, great breakfast items, high speed wifi, flat screen tv/dvd player, and an incredible view of the water. Excellent rate, quiet and very safe location especially for solo female traveller like me, and a parking spot for your rental car! Very highly recommended! 'Will definitely stay again if I'm in the area.
We were first time airbnb travelers and are happy to say we were more than pleasantly surprised!!
Ninette and Bill are great hosts, with a lots of knowledge of the area, including spots the average tourist would miss. They were also very interesting and fun to spend time with. The accommodations were great, very clean and comfortable. We will definitely return!! Norm & Judy
Our first Aibnb experience and it was wonderful! Ninette and Bill were terrific hosts and we would definitely stay there again. The accommodations were exceptionally clean and very comfortable! The weather outside was horrible but it was warm and welcoming inside! Thank you, Ninette for everything!
Although Ninette and Bill were apologetic for the weather conditions upon our arrival, we found our hosts to be most pleasant and welcoming, and the accommodations to exceed our expectations. Not a single detail was overlooked: K-coffee, walk-out deck on the bay, snacks, many bathroom amenities, big screen TV with cable and DVD player (and discs), and a second floor "common" room with an even better view of the bay. They even parked their car across the street so we could park in the driveway. Thank you Ninette and Bill for sharing your home with us. Hope we can re-connect in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ninette and Bill's place!! They are very thoughtful, friendly, and gracious hosts! We really wish we could have stayed longer and intend to go back during the spring or summer! The location is wonderful and it was so lovely waking up to blue water and bright sunshine right outside of our bedroom door! We can't say enough about all of the amenities and comfort provided to us! Thanks so much for hosting us!!
Hate to tell everyone how good it was staying (website hidden) and my wife will be going back and if people know how it was we would never be able to get in at her place (website hidden) could not have been better. The room was first rate ! The view and deck was second to none a good hotel strives to be this good. But one of the best parts was getting to meet Ninette and Bill and swop some stories with them. Only regret we could not spend more time with them. They were like old friends But for sure they are new ones. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED STAYING THERE !!!
It was 18 degrees F windy and cold while Rick and Adell were here, but not a discouraging word out of them. Thank you Rick and Adell so much for everything you did while you were here. This review is incredible. It matches your personality, giving, caring and considerate. Loved having you and meeting you. Looking forward to your return. Your Mother is probably counting the days. Hope Orlando is warmer. Snug Harbour will be warmer soon too I hope!!! Can't wait for summer.
Ninette is a lovely hostess. We were at her home in Shalimar for a couple of cooler, rainy days, but we were delighted to stay warm and cozy! Ninette even turned on a heated bed for us...and the bed...oh my goodness. It was so comfy that we didn't want to leave! The organization of the space is quite interesting...everything has its place, and I came away with a couple of idea for my own house!
The view from the room is outstanding - definitely waterfront! Ninette offered a boat ride, but we live in South Florida, so we couldn't quite muster up the courage to take a boat ride in low 50's temps!
Thank you again, Ninette. If I could have put that bed in my suitcase, I probably would have!
Ninette was a gracious host and made our first Air BnB experience very pleasant. Good restaurant recommendations (we enjoyed Joe & Eddie's diner) and local advice on places to see. Even though it was pouring down rain during our stay, we definitely enjoyed our stay!
