A very good experience with a few minor exceptions. Hosts were courteous to me and my 83 year-old mother. She enjoyed it too. We were in Taos for a family wedding at the nearby resort.
Rental area is large, clean and private from other living areas of the house. Bathroom is nice and well-stocked but obviously built by someone very tall. I am only 5'1" and had problems washing my face because the counter is very high and the sink is very deep. A step stool would be very beneficial for us short ones!
Michael pointed out on arrival that light stains on the carpet were due to their dogs coming upstairs and "doing their business". He said they had cleaned the carpet. I had recommended to him an enzyme cleaner like Natures' Miracle to get the scent out otherwise they would keep coming back to the same area and peeing.
Unfortunately, when we returned our first evening there was a wet spot by one of the bedroom entrances. A barrier or door at the stair entry is seriously needed to keep dogs downstairs. Even a baby-gate would help!
I have dogs so I wasn't particularly put off by it but I can see how some people might be.
Parking area is a little steep and has rocks that may cause an unsteady person problems. Taos streets are dark and not marked very well so KNOW where you are going or better yet keep a GPS app running on your smart phone.
The street to turn off of Kit Carson is "Las Cruces". The sign is difficult to see because it is hidden in a tree. It is very easy to go by it even when you are looking for it and know it is there.
It does get warm in the afternoons because there are a lot of windows in the upstairs area. I put the shades down during the day to keep the heat out. There is no air-conditioning so windows opened in the evening cool things down.
Unlike other hosts' posts, we were not offered any coffee but took our own small coffee pot and snacks. There is a nice table by the small refrigerator to sit and eat.
Overall a good experience and with a few changes could be superb! Thank you Michael and Heather for opening your home to me and my mother.
The neighborhood is pretty dark, and if we hadn't had GPS, we would have had a hard time finding the location.
Michael and Heather made us feel very welcome, and all communication was really easy. The house is beautiful, and it was great luxury to be able to choose between two beautiful bedrooms. It is lovely of the hosts to give the whole upstairs floor to the guests. The bathroom is big, and everything is very clean.
Michael and Heather were very welcoming! The place was spotless and quiet-- and in a great location. They even helped jump start our car when our battery died on the morning we left. We would definitely stay here again when in Taos.
Delightful setting and accommodations. Michael and Heather are very welcoming.
Great location, close to Taos Plaza, Michael is a very hospitable host and talented individual.
Definitely recommend staying there.
Room is well appointed with Southwest theme, and bathroom is of a large size.
Communication was great. Helped with directions and about how long it would take to get to their home. Great directions and just as pictured. Key just as they said it was, too. Easy parking and close to town. Two rooms upstairs with a big bathroom. The room was clean and ready for me. Michael gave me a dinner suggestion of going to the Taos Inn for dinner. Just right. Felt welcomed and at ease. Coffee was offered in the morning and there was a small refrigerator
upstairs for my use. Michael and Heather were welcoming and made me comfortable in their home. Thank you!
