Located in the banana belt (if there is sun in the sky, it will be shining here), this is a perfect house to enjoy good times with friends and family. Come enjoy the kitchen, the deck, the fire pit and the Tiki bar. Bikes, wetsuits and beach chairs!
We are located in the banana belt of Santa Cruz- so if there is sun- you will find it here!
Ours is a sweet old Victorian Farm house built in 1878. Located in sunny Santa Cruz on the Central coast of California just an hour south of San Francisco and an hour north of Monterey, it's a great location for exploring the surrounding areas. Amenities include a full newly remodeled kitchen, a party deck with a hot tub, two bicycles, and all the beach supplies you will need. Each of the three bedrooms has a queen size bed. The two upstairs bedrooms share a European style bath with shower, and the master bedroom has its own bathroom. There is an additional half bath with washer and dryer off the kitchen.
Wake up, brew yourselves some coffee from the Santa Cruz Roasting company (beans and half and half provided) and enjoy the hot tub while the air is still cool. If you want to have a beach day, use our coolers, blankets, towels, chairs and beach table - anything you need for a day in the sand and sun.
At night you can gather on the deck around our new gas fire pit- or sit at the Tiki Bar and enjoy a cocktail and one of your favorite shows. There is a standing gas heater to keep you warm if the night is chilly.
A fifteen minute walk in different directions offers many choices of lovely restaurants, good local shopping, superb bakeries and local coffee shops. The beach is just a five minute bike ride away! .
We have lived in our home for almost thirty years, and we love to travel. So when we are out of town - whether for a weekend or a week, we would love for you to enjoy a wonderful Santa Cruz visit. If you love our place and it's not available - inquire anyway - we may just take a spontaneous trip! From $400 nightly.
Check calendar and your final accepted Price when booking!
Bikes, wetsuits, Tiki-bar with big screen TV, Fire pit, Hot Tub. Complete set up for babies and toddlers. Great entertaining!
Interaction with Guests
I am available via email and text msg and phone. We are generally out of town when guests arrive and check out.
I love the diversity in my neighborhood. I love the beautiful gardens, and I love that it is within walking distance to downtown.
Public buses right at the end of the street- but they're really not needed to get most places.
Other Things to Note
If you have a couple extra guests and a blow up mattress, there is room and bedding and for two hundred dollars (total) they can stay as well. Extra bedding and towels provided .
Please, if you smoke - do it as far away from our place as possible. We thank you for that! When you leave, just put all used towels in the downstairs bathroom on the floor by the washer. If you have time to strip the beds- that would be great too!
Beth was the best! We came out to Santa Cruz for my wife's 30th birthday. She had decorations all set up for us, a bottle of champagne and plenty of suggestions for things for us to do. The house was perfect!!! The jacuzzi and tiki bar are crucial for a great relaxing weekend with friends. The kitchen was so nice, that we all ended up cooking and staying in rather than ever going out. Also, one of the couple brought the 1yr 6mo old daughter with, and they didn't even have to bust out their crib because there was already one in the room upstairs. This house, and Beth as the host, could not have been more perfect for our weekend. We'll definitely be back and staying here again. Thanks again for the weekend!
What a perfect place! Our hosts left helpful notes throughout the house to make everything user friendly for us, and even a bottle of Cava! There were also many thoughtful touches, like coffee and tea and an electric kettle in the well equipped and spacious kitchen. Once we saw back yard/side deck area we never wanted to leave. There's a gas fed fire pit full of lava rocks, a hot tub and a tiki bar.
Thanks for everything, and we'd love to come back and stay again!
My girlfriend and I and one other couple had a great stay at this lovely Santa Cruz home. Beth made us feel super welcome by leaving detailed notes about everything we might have questions about, and also left out a nice bottle of sparkling wine and some chocolates to help us celebrate Valentine's Day. The bedrooms were cozy, there was a nice stereo setup that was easy to use and attach an iPod to (also a turntable and a nice selection of records), and a HUGE kitchen with multiple sinks and an abundance of counter space--ideal for collaborating on a big meal with friends! The highlight for us, though, was the backyard, which included a jacuzzi, charcoal grill, speakers connected to the stereo inside, and most importantly, an epic tiki bar with a flat screen TV! Being basketball fans, we had a great time watching NBA All-Star Weekend on the flatscreen, while I got to practice my bartending skills. Quite the selection of booze, too! (We borrowed a bit of this and that, and left a few things behind for the next folks to enjoy.) Only downside was that we found the jacuzzi totally empty when we got there (somehow a valve got opened by mistake and the whole thing drained) and we couldn't get the heat lamp by the tiki bar to light while we were watching (email hidden) (I think the propane tank was empty). But we let Beth know right away about the jacuzzi and Dwight called me right back and walked me through how to close the valve, fill it back up and get it heated. It took a long time to get hot, so we couldn't get in until around 10pm that night, but it wasn't a big deal and Beth and Dwight graciously waived the cleaning fee to make up for the trouble we had to go to to fill it back up and get it hot again. Would've been nice to have the heat lamp working since it was just a little bit chilly outside, but also not a big deal. Overall a great experience, and we wouldn't hesitate to come back!
So sorry about that propane tank- there was a newly filled one in the shed. I thought that Dwight had left it out- but it was hidden. (lack of communication after 44 years of marriage) LOL. Glad you had a good time anyway and I am happy the weather was nice! Thanks for taking care of the jacuzzi- that is still a mystery!
We found the house and setting to be exactly as described in the listing. A charming historic farmhouse, with a lavishly renovated kitchen, three comfortable bedrooms, and an inviting entertainment deck outside. Beth was responsive and accomodating, and we were pleased overall. The house was freshly cleaned when we arrived, and cosy.
I doubt there is a more thoughtful pair of hosts than Beth and Dwight on the Airbnb platform. Not only does their home radiate with warmth and grace, but there are so many personal touches that demonstrate how gracious they are to have you there!
From the really thoughtful welcome basket to the personalized ginger beer and the (really super cool!) photo of Beth's dad with Judy Garland; there are fun surprises tucked around every corner of this truly wonderful space :)
Beth sets an astronomical bar for AirBnBs. She was so responsive, welcoming, and exact with all her directions for using the house. The house itself was charming – full of warmth and good vibrations. We so enjoyed the hot tub, spacious kitchen, and welcome bottle of champagne! Everything about this stay was perfect, and we hope to be back again.
Beth was welcoming and easy to negotiate with given the special nature of our requests (we needed to book the space for a day retreat--no overnight stay). Although she was out of the state on the day we rented the facility, she adequately prepared us, and Dwight was there to welcome us and show us the facility and its amenities. The home was beautiful and well-maintained. Modern amenities that gave the somewhat dated home a newer, more vibrant feel. A great space to rent for the day!
We are a couple of young at heart empty nesters who love to travel and share our love of Santa Cruz with others. We are known for our parties and for creating traditions among our friends and family in Santa Cruz. Married for forty years, we have two beautiful daughters and three grandchildren. Our home is in the Santa Cruz Banana belt which means that when the city is bathed in fog- our front yard may be warm and sunny! We love to make our place available whenever we are away-whether for a weekend or a few weeks.
