My husband, baby and I had a wonderful weekend stay here! It was even better than the pics/description. Marina was extremely responsive when we had questions. It's so convenient to USNA and all of our fav downtown spots. We will prefer this for all of our future visits.
Location great. Good emails back and forth during the rental process and leading up to the stay with exception of the one I sent ~ 2 months prior requesting daily parking passes - was not resolved until the MON/TUE prior to the THU check-in. Check-in instructions very thorough otherwise. Recommendations for improvement:
1) Invest in a hair dryer for guests - virtually all hotels that one pays north of $150 a night have one.
2) Have some small bars of soap for guests to use (like in a hotel or a B&B).
3) Ditto for a box of Kleenex.
4) On the detailed check-in instructions, add a note for the guests to remind them of the checkout time.
5) No coffee filters.
6) One trash can - in the kitchen.
It seems to me Ron that you are still upset because I did not extended the check out time at 2 pm after the boat tour you had planned. Our check out time is 10:00 and we allowed you until 12:45 but clearly it was not enough. If you had responded to my e-mail the night before I perhaps could have re-arranged the cleaning crew but at 12:45 the cleaning people were already en route.
I am not sure what the issue is about the parking passes. The e-mails you sent were not thru ABnB and I never received it. In the listing we always recommend to sent e-mail thru ABNB for this exact reason. Never the less the parking passes were waiting for you at check in time after I confirmed that you need them. You were not left without permits! really don't know why this is an issue.
Sorry about the hair dryer but there was one in the 2nd bathroom along with extra towels. Perhaps you missed it. We don't use small bar of soaps but there a nice lemon/verbena hand soap pump and hand cream pump in each bathroom. An additional bottle of body soap was in the shower. Again, I can understand if there was no soap at all but we provide you with some.
The coffee maker has the one of these recyclable coffee filter and there is not need for paper filters ( this to limit waste and save a few trees ) and we did offer some coffee and teas.
Sorry we did not like our place. Happy travels
The location of the place really is incredible, especially for visiting the Capitol, St Johns or the Academy. The neighborhood is wonderful as well. The apartment is very spacious, very nice, and with a backyard area. The kitchen had just about everything you'd need to cook simple meals.
Marina was a responsive and clear communicator.
The place is adequately, if not sparsely furnished -- more like a commercial rental and not with some of the things you might find in a private home, but was still very comfortable.
Apparently a parking pass is available -- but only if you know to ask for it ahead of time (we did not) thus the parking garage a few blocks away is the only legal place for daily parking ($20/day).
There were issues w/ the internet (3 devices could not connect) but Marina was able to get us a password for another network next door which we could use close to the walls.
There was also a significant problem w/ odor in the upstairs bathroom adjacent to the bedroom. Likely a dead animal trapped in the wall or floor or plumbing -- or maybe a plumbing/venting issue? In any case, the air-freshener they left in there wasn't effective. This won't be a problem forever but if you rent in Fall 2014, you will want to make sure this has been addressed before renting as it's right next to the bedroom.
Once the internet and odor issues are worked out, this is really a great place to stay while visiting Annapolis.
We are very sorry about your experience with the smell, which is a surprise to us. I don't know if we could have done anything about it, but I wish you'd let us know. A guest checked out just a couple days before you checked in and said nothing about a smell. We will look into that immediately.
The internet problem is also new within the last month -- I personally tested it and found no problem after the last guest complained, but clearly something is not right and we will look into that, too, right away. I hope that if and when you return to Annapolis you will give us another look!
We had the same positive experience as most of the reviewers here. Great location near Gate 3 of USNA and a quick walk to the harbor. From the harbor you can take the free trolley to many different locations. Marina and James were great hosts. One bit of advice; if you need a parking pass give them plenty of notice as they have to physically go to the city office to purchase them. The apartment itself was huge and very quaint. It was a real adventure staying here and a real pleasure!
Thank you to Marina. She was a great host. Very friendly. The location was perfect for us during our sons candidate visit weekend at the Naval Academy. It was within walking distance to the gates and Main Street. The place was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed.
We had a great time staying at Marina's place. The location is great and the apartment is spacious and well appointed. Marina was very fast in responding to all of my texts and questions. If I needed to stay in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
