Hello everybody !
Our house lies in the district called "Chrisi Akti" (Golden beach), 4 kms away from the centre of Chania and only 150 m from the golden sandy beach. Three more beaches are at your "disposal" within a 5 min walk. Just a few steps from the house there is a lovely park where you can enjoy running, jogging or just walking early in the morning or late in the (website hidden) ideal spot for friends or families to discover real Crete.
The apartment is on the ground floor of a family building and has been recently decorated with a lot of colors in a creative way. A green yard with unspoiled view and BBQ, a fully equipped kitchen,a sunny and cool living room and a cozy bedroom with a double comfy bed are all yours !
You will also be pleased to find lots of English and German books, a high-speed internet connection, a washer with free detergent, air conditioning and fresh Cretan products that will be waiting for you in the house to make your stay relaxing and memorable.
Fresh bath towels and bed linens, tips about Crete, and a free city guide with the hip spots of the town are provided so that you feel like a local. During your stay we will assist you any time needed.
Within walking distance you will find the bus station (100 m.), 2 supermarkets (800 m), many restaurants and a pharmacy (800 m.).
In case you want to take a trip , the exotic beach of Falassarna, the astonishing lagoon of Balos and the breathtaking Samaria gorge are highly recommended!
Please let me know your dates and a bit about yourself. Hope you are a traveller, not a tourist.
Come, stay and leave happy :-)
I naturally want everybody to have a great time- so there are only a few things to consider.
Since it is a quiet residential house I would appreciate your discretion and please, no smoking in the house. You can enjoy your cigarette in the yard!
This was such an amazing, perfect, cozy place to stay. Elina and Nadia really make you feel like its a home away from home, ensuring you have everything you need in Crete. I was there in winter, so it was great to have Elina's maps to tell me the best places to go, since I knew they would all be open (as they are local). I cannot say enough good things about this place and would return in a minute!
My stay was nothing for of fantastic. The family is super kind and generous. Elina has maps she and her boyfriend made available so you can experience the best of Chania. Much appreciated.
The place is perfect, with every detail taken care of. There was great food when I arrived. I never tired of scampering down the hill to the beaches and the hiking, and the walk to the old village and harbor was great. Plenty of markets nearby to pick from. Only a 10 minute walk away. The kitchen is great to cook in. Strong wifi. Quiet, peaceful neighborhood. I can't say enough good things!
This family were incredibly friendly, hospitable and accommodating hosts. they went above and beyond what we expected and we thank them very much, especially when we had to leave early for personal reasons.
The apartment has all the comforts and is very clean.
Having a car would have been a great plus for us in helping to see more of the country south of Chania. Many of the Regional buses had stopped for the season. As is usual for Greece, and especially in suburban areas many of the local services for tourists had closed their doors for a very well earned break.
Our visit to Elina's house truly was like home from home. Her whole family were so hospitable and made us feel so welcome. The apartment was beautiful, clean, spacious and very well equipped. I can't fault it. Elina's attention to detail makes it a delight to stay in her house. Elina's information and maps were also very useful and she gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. Also great to have wi-fi. The welcome food was delicious - such variety and wonderful to sample the local products. We had a hire car and was great to park it just outside our house. The location was great for going out to explore the west of crete and staying more local to see Chania. We had a wonderful time and would definitely go back to stay - I highly recommend Elina as a host.
We can highly recommend this place- especially the really kind and attentive hosts that made us feel really welcome and at home. We've always appreciated Greek hospitality but this was on another level! It's in a really good location for good beaches and for transport to Chania too. Elina and her family have lots of recommendations for places known to the locals and provided clear maps and written info for us to use during our stay.
Elina's family couldn't have been more thoughtful of our needs. They factored in our late Saturday arrival with a fridge stocked with essential goodies (some home made) and milk for our 19 month old. We had a high chair and cot made available and the maps were super useful in exploring the nearby beaches, supermarkets, restaurants and Chania town centre. Elina's mother even took me to the supermarket one evening and happily explained the local products. I'd happily recommend a stay here in Daratsos at this nicely decorated and well equipped apartment.
We could not have wished for a better house or host. Elina and her family were so friendly and welcoming towards us and made us feel right at home. They made sure that we had everything we needed and Elina and her boyfriend have made the coolest map of Chania, helping us steer clear of the tourist traps and heading straight to the favourite places of the locals.
The house is light and fresh and the cleaning was spotless - everything we had hoped for from the description. We could sit on the terrace every night watching the sunset in the beautiful and quiet area of Chrisi Akti. You could easily walk to Chania or take a bus – but the area it self was also great. Perfect sand beaches and outdoor areas and both locals and tourists inhabited the area – perfect mixture.
At the end of our stay, Elina even gave us small homemade gifts. Like Elina told us on the day of our arrival: “everybodys’ holiday is important” – and that is exactly how Elina and her family made us feel. We strongly recommend Elina’s place.

I m 26 and work as a teacher in Crete. When I m not in the school, I like riding my bike , crafting, making pastries and sewing. I, also, love to travel, cook and receive people in my home. I know travelers wish to try out what is real and typical, and since not everybody has friends as tourist guides, this type of stay will help you avoid tourist traps and discover what to do during your stay at Chania, while enjoying a wonderful home.
