D'Ann was the best host ever. She was very helpful and welcoming. The historic Inn is in a lovely location that is central to everything. The rooms were just as described on the listing.
This was a wonderful place to stay and D’Ann is a sweetheart. On the first day I checked in we had a glass of wine together in rocking chairs on the front porch and she gave me lots of recommendations for food and drink in the area (my personal favorites ended up being Vintage Heart Coffee, Hillside Farmacy and Quickie Pickie). I was visiting for SXSW and even with all of the excitement downtown I found it hard to leave the house because it is so homey and comfortable (example: a hammock on the second story porch!). It is in a quiet neighborhood but not too far of a walk from all the good stuff. I would definitely stay here again if I had the chance.
D'Ann had a beautiful home in an old 19th Century schoolhouse. She was a great host who was very accommodating of our late arrival time. The room was clean and charming. D'Ann provided us with useful suggestions on sightseeing in Austin and even offered us the use of her kayaks. D'Ann was an immeasurable addition to our amazing vacation in Austin.
D'Ann made us feel very welcomed and was quite accommodating. Very friendly and communicative about coordinating our arrival. Large, spacious room and terrace in a beautiful house too!
The house and host was very welcoming. The location was perfect for walking access to many places in Austin. My roomate and I felt very safe and at home here. We would definetly stay here again if gotten the oppurtunity.
D'Ann was a great host to me and my friend who was visiting! The location is great, not too far away from all the happenings in Austin, but far enough that you're not in the middle of all it. The house was charming, the rooms were large and the bed was comfy. D'Ann even helped us with getting to the airport. 5 star!
Our stay was great at the Inn at the Old School. D'Ann was really easy to communicate with, was very willing to accommodate our date change requests, and made the key hand-off a breeze. She went out of her way to make us feel at home, and gave us suggestions of things to do and see both in Austin, and then further on our road trip.
The room itself is nice- we stayed in "Kate's Room" and it had a private shower & bath. The bed was super comfy, and it had access to a large, sunny porch.
The location can't be beat if you want to stay in East Austin. It's just a few blocks off 6th (enough so that it's quiet!), and within walking distance of great bars and restaurants. You can even walk downtown or rent city bikes, which have stands close by.
We'd definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a great value and location!

About the Host, D'Ann
I grew up in South Jersey outside of Philly. My family came from Wyoming and I like to visit there and go fishing each summer. I have been lucky to mother a number of children as a step mother, foster mother, adoptive mother and birth mother. My children have become teachers, chaplains, peace corps volunteers, activists, union organizers, business persons, and parents themselves. I am a Legal Aid lawyer and general agitator for justice. I hope we leave the world a better place because of our actions.
