Check In
  • Both Alissa and her place were fantastic. Clean, welcoming and inspiring. We would absolutely stay again and recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent spot in Detroit.

  • If you stay in Detroit, you need to stay here. The apartment is perfect. It's a spacious studio with a nicely laid out kitchen, and washer/dishwasher. The wifi is good, the location is very central, and Alissa's wonderful personality comes through all over the house. When I was there, she left helpful notes about how to find things, so I didn't have to spend 20 minutes searching for a fork (as I normally do when I'm in an Airbnb). She obviously cares about Detroit, and knows it like the back of her hand. I was here on business, but still felt like I got to know the city in a really meaningful way in just a week.

Then there is Alissa herself. She is my favorite host ever, a wonderful person, and doing amazing things with her life. Total legend!

  • Great location in a fancy building. Chaming, personal design and furniture :) It was uncomplicated to check in despite our very late arrival time. We'd love to stay there again in the future!

  • A lovely apartment in a great part of the city. Almost all museums around the corner, the university, creative shops and great restaurants, cafés and bars, both near and in a short walking distance. I can really recommend Alissas place!

    March 2014
  • Alissa's place was great- clean, convenient, comfortable just as shown in the pics and description. The building itself is historic and renovated, located across the street from the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) which is a real treasure and must-see. There is a good Japanese/Korean restaurant and a coffee shop in the lobby and a diner a block away. Other restaurants nearby too. Alissa was very helpful and responsive to my questions about transportation and wifi, and check-in was easy and smooth. She's done a great job leaving notes around the apartment explaining where everything is- a fully annotated AirBnB!

  • Really enjoyed our stay at Alissa's studio. Comfortable accommodations, fast elevators, superb location, and excellent communication with owner. I recommend this place for anyone visiting Detroit.

  • Alissa was super friendly and had a great, clean place! It's exactly what the photos show. Was a great location walking distance to the Detroit Medical Centre and other parts of Wayne State campus. Alissa gave me great recommendations for food nearby too! Had a hassle-free stay. Would recommend it to anyone needing to stop in mid town Detroit for a short stay!

    December 2012
  • This apartment is very clean and cozy. It is also in a really great location to explore the city. Very much recommend it!

    December 2012
  • Needed to stay an extra day. Alissa was accommodating despite my last minute arrangements. See my other review for more about how much the apartment rocks.

    November 2012
  • Just what I signed up on Airbnb for. Can't beat the location, price and aesthetic. The cozy, unique space made me feel at home immediately. The bed was comfy and the old school record player was a pleasant surprise. The description warns folks with cat allergies that it might not be the place for them, but I think even with an allergy one should consider staying here if the cat is away. I have a very slight allergy, so I took a chance and was glad I did. The apartment has hardwood floors and was spotless. I didn't encounter a single kitty hair the whole stay.
