The Space

Colonial Pool Villa & small garden in central Bangkok (Sukhumvit) for peace and quiet stay in cul-de-sac yet only 500 m from urban infrastructure (major shopping, the best restaurants of Bangkok, fitness, yoga, a nice park with running track (lit at night), movie theaters and the subway/sky-train).

The house has three bedrooms (upstairs), all with their own attached bathrooms. The house is ideal for a family with children. I am sub-letting the whole house while I am traveling. Our maid (live-out) takes care of all cleaning, cooking and laundry.

Downstairs is the kitchen, living/dining and family room. The swimming pool is right next to the living room only separated by french doors which cover the length of the room. There is no separate gate to the pool: if you travel with small children who cannot swim, you must keep the doors closed.

While the villa is build in colonial style, it is only 6 years old and all equipments and furnishings are very modern.

The house is a quiet and peaceful oasis in the center of one of Asia's most lively cities.

  • In (email hidden) to stay. Great location. We - two couples - were in Bangkok for three weeks and were very comfortable staying in Ingo's villa. It has a well-appointed and easy to use kitchen, which was great for our long stay, as was having a daily maid service. The pool was a hit – bliss to slip into after a hot day out and about. The villa is a the end of a quiet cul de sac but we felt very secure and safe, and it was a great escape from the general noise and hubbub which is just minutes away along with the BTS (Phrom Phong is the nearest station), supermarkets, shops, eateries, you name it. The coffee machine selling shop at the top of the street has an excellent range of coffee beans and just to the right of that along Soi Phrom Chit is Café Wonderful, which serves really good coffee. The villa's location was particularly good for us as it was only 20 minutes walk (usually quicker than going by taxi) to Samitijev Hospital where our grandson was born) but it was also a perfect base for exploring Bangkok. As well as the BTS and MRT being close at hand, the Saen Saeb canal is about 20 – 30 minutes walk away for an express boat ride to Golden Mount: Or, if you’re not feeling energetic enough to walk, take the BTS to National Stadium and get on it near Jim Thomson’s house. Ingo is an excellent host. He provides clear written instructions on how to get to the villa along with detailed information on supermarkets, shops and eateries. He was also really easy to reach by phone or (website hidden) when we needed to contact him about a couple of things. We would have no hesitation in recommending Ingo to other guests and we hope that his place available on a next visit to Bankgok.

  • We came to Bangkok for 3 weeks with our 3-year-old daughter and are SO glad we could rent Ingo's house. This place is just amazing, a big and lightful house in a very quiet cul-de-sac right next to an extremely lively neighbourhood. The house is just like the pictures !
We felt like at home right away. The maid/nanny/cook is adorable and took very good care of our daughter when we needed to spend the entire day at work. She goes shopping, makes the laundry, baby-sits and cooks for you. What could we possibly have asked more ?
There are 3 bedrooms at the first floor, one of them is a very large and comfortable Master Suite, each room has its private bathroom. The entertainment room downstairs has been the highlight for our daughter, with a lot of toys she could play with.
A/C is available everywhere if needed.
Ingo was away on holidays at the time of our visit and we couldn't meet him personnally. Nevertheless, he has been very helpful arranging everything for our trip, even a car with a driver ! By the way, if he recommends a good restaurant in the neighbourhood, go and test it... You will not be disappointed.
We had a wonderful stay and hope to be able to stay there again during our next Bangkok trip !

I am a renewable energy finance professional and business angel for sustainability driven business models.
I am taking a bottom-up view of the world: travel is not about checking a country's sites off a list but about engaging on the micro-level: the people I meet, the little street I walk down. For me life is about doing the right thing, (email hidden) is based on sharing experiences with people I care about and appreciating the (sometimes complicated) beauty of everything. I am fairly social but also need privacy and time-alone. As a guest, I am very respectful of my host's home and his/her thresholds for interaction/solitude and somewhat expect the same of my guests when hosting. I am always interested in leaving my comfort zone, even just a little bit, and learn something new.
