This condo is a clean, clean, clean and stylish apartment in the heart0 of downtown Ottawa.
I suggest you read some of the 100+ reviews for this and my other condos in the same building, and you will discover that our guests have had many wonderful things to say about the condos and its location.
This condo is very popular. Though I had two negative reviews a year and a half ago (the guests were angry because of the road work though I had proved to them that I had told them know before they booked). Out of the hundreds guests we had last summer, only these two complained.

Interaction with Guests
We know that you are visiting Ottawa for a specific reason and that it probably doesn't include socializing with us! But, we want you to know that we are close by if you need anything and we are happy to help...
We are located on the famous Rideau Street, one of Ottawa's oldest roadways, though relatively short (9 blocks) but it connects to lots of tourist attractions! At the end of it and 2 blocks beyond is Parliament Hill and the entrance to the Rideau Canal (skating in the winter and boating in the summer). In those 9 blocks is the Byward market, the Rideau Centre, shopping, movie theatre, liquor, beer and 2 x 24 hour grocery stores. In our block is one of the city's exclusive spas, 4 restauants, an adult entertainment shop, 24-hour convenience store, a tailer shop, hair salon, and more...
Walking to all major attractions is easy to do. There are also 4 major bus routes steps from the front door. Flagging cabs is convenient and inexpensive for getting around downtown.
Check-in is anytime after 3 pm.
Check-out must be no later than 11 am. (we need the 4 hours in-between to clean and sanitize the apartment for the next guests).
We offer a clean, well-appointed condo that is perfect for people who want to be in the downtown core, the business district, or close to tourist attractions.
We ask that our guests be respectful of our home, the furnishings and supplies, and also respectful of our fellow condo owners. Excessive noise will not be tolerated. Smoking is limited to outside the building. Pets, though we love them, are not able to stay in our heritage building.
The Tenant(s) agree to be responsible for any and all damages howsoever caused, be same innocent, negligent or willful, and whether caused by the Tenant(s), any one of them or any person on the Rented Premises. The Tenant(s) further agrees to notify the Landlord immediately upon the Tenant(s) becoming aware of any damage.
The maximum number of tenants and guests is limited to four (4) persons day or night. No weddings, graduations, receptions, parties, or similar events allowed.
The Tenant(s) agrees to return the condo in the same condition it was found.
In the event that the tenants(s) and guest(s) do not execute the cancellation agreement, the tenant(s) agrees that the owner may charge the sum of $600 per night provided the tenants(s) and guest(s) do not check out on their pre-arranged check-out date.
No Daily Housekeeping services
While linens and bath towels are included, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate, however, it is available at an additional rate.
We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the condo.
Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in.
The Tenant(s) agrees that the Landlord shall not be liable for any loss, injury or damage to persons or property, loss of enjoyment, whether direct or consequential, resulting from such being on or about the Rented Premises whether caused by fire, smoke, theft, burglary, conditions due to the weather such as ice on the grounds, or for any cause whatsoever. The Tenant(s) further agrees that their use of the Rental Premises is at their sole risk.
We highly recommend all tenant(s) and guest(s) purchase travel, personal liability and property insurance.
The Tenant(s) for good and valid consideration, including the granting of possession of the Rental Premises pursuant to the terms of this Rental Agreement, hereby agree to indemnify the Landlord and save them harmless with respect to any claim, demand, cause of action or actions made by any person against the Landlord, their agents and servants for damage or injury arising during the period of the Rental Agreement on or about the Rental Premises.
Use of Grounds
The Tenant(s), his/her family and guest(s) shall use the parking space, the terrace, and walks within the area owned by the Landlord in a quiet and proper manner and with due regard to the comfort and convenience of other Tenants and neighbours, and shall desist from any course of conduct considered objectionable by any agent of the Landlord upon being requested to do so.
Parking is optional and is $10 plus 13% HST per night ($11.30), per vehicle, with in/out privileges, is 1/2 block (30 second walk) from the building and does not require a reservation.
Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner.
Pets are NOT allowed.
Smoking/Smoke Detectors/Fire Extinguisher
There is no smoking permitted in the condo/or throwing cigarette butts on the grounds, or in the surrounding walkways/parking lots. The Tenant(s), his/her family and guest(s) are permitted to smoke on the terrace, but must use a proper ashtray and dispose of the butts in such a manner as to ensure the butts are extinguished fully.
The Landlord shall ensure that there is a functional smoke detector and fire extinguisher installed in the Rented Premises at the time the Tenant(s) takes possession of the rented premises.
A Tenant(s), his/her family or guest(s) who disable(s) a smoke detector is subject to a fine under Ontario law.
Both the Landlord and the Tenant(s) hereto agree and understand that a fax transmission of this Rental Agreement shall be considered to be an original, and shall be legally binding upon all parties.
Tenant(s) Travel Information
Check-in is any time after 3 pm. Since our assistant will be greeting you at the front door, we ask that you let us know in advance what time you expect to arrive at the condo. We are flexible. We understand it is not always easy to pinpoint an exact time.
During the email exchange you will be asked to agree to the terms of our agreement.
The space was super cute, I really liked that Katherine provided all sorts of little extras like sugar, coffee and spices it was nice to see. I will definitely book with her again when I go to Ottawa next time. It felt like staying in someone's home as opposed to a cold hotel, good job!
Thank you Tracy for being such a wonderful guest and for appreciating all the extras we provide. We try to think of everything an adult, teenager or child would need to make our condo feel like their home. Being a retired chef, I understand how important it is to have a usable kitchen, so not only do we provide coffee, tea, sugar and spices, but also dried pastas, rices, flour, oils, vinegars - most of the basics to cook meals by adding protein and perishables. We encourage our guests to use the amenities even if staying for one night, and most of our guests do. We have a 24-hour full-size grocery store 3 blocks away. Glad you liked the decor, Tracy. We have spent a few years finding pieces that complement the theme for the unit. Le logement est idéalement placé, à environ 20min à pied de la colline parlementaire. Il est très largement équipé et correspond entièrement à la description.
Nous n'avons pas eu la chance de croiser notre hôte mais elle a tout à fait pour rendre notre séjour agréable et notre arrivée facile.

The condo is also about a 15 minute walk to the Byward market, the Rideau canal, Ottawa Conference centre, and the Rideau Centre. It is a 10 minute walk to the University of Ottawa campus, Strathcona park, the Russian embassy, Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute, There are many other tourist attractions that are within a 10-20 minute walk as well as 4 major bus routes to all places throughout the city within steps of the front door. Within 3 blocks there is a 24 hour major grocery store. There are banks, retail stores, convenience stores, a liqour store, a movie theatre, beer store, a library, and multiple pharmacies.
The apartment was a fantastic way to spend a weekend in Ottawa. The unit was clean, comfortable and was equipped for all our needs. The unit is run in a very professional manner. Communication was prompt and accurate and checking in and out made quite easy. A great find!
Our guests, like Jane, appreciate that we take our responsibilities to ensure a wonderful stay for our guests very seriously. This is for guests' comfort and convenience. Even though we are renting out our condo, we feel that is no excuse for taking a laid back or casual approach. I hate! She not wait for us.
This guest was advised well before the day of his arrival that we are willing to wait if he is delayed BUT that he is to inform us as soon as he knows he will be late..
This guest emailed me just moments before his scheduled arrival time to tell me that he was going to be another 7 hours and that he would arrive at 12:30 in the morning.
If a guest wanted to arrive late at night because he was delayed due to an emergency I would not hesitate to agree, but, though I found the guest's behavior and request to be inconsiderate, I agreed to accommodate him.
Two hours later the guest emailed me again to tell me that he had still not started on his long 7 hour drive to Ottawa so now he would not arrive for his 1-night stay until 2:30 in the morning. He again asked me if that was OK with me. This time I told him no, it was not.
I reminded him that his one night reservation was for the day before, and that 2:30 in the morning made me quite uncomfortable. I suggested he stay put where he was (which was Niagara Falls so plenty of inexpensive accommodations available), because I could not approve such a late check in.
I never heard back from the guest. He did not acknowledge my emails. He did not respond to Airbnb's emails. He simply disappeared.
This is a rental building in needs of renovations and it has a poor noise insulation. The common areas are very dirty, dirty carpets, half painted walls. Although the unit is well equipped and was cleaned before our arrival, the sofa was dirty, its mattress was soiled and uncomfortable. The lock on the entrance door to the unit feels so insecure that we did not feel like leaving our laptops in the place. Furthermore, the street where it is located is going through major rebuilding, with major excavations and no more sidewalks. It is potentially hazardous to wander through this major construction site, especially at night, as it is the only way to enter the building. So we were awakened by jack hammers at 7.30 am, without warning and by large trucks bringing construction materials. which made the building vibrate and shook the windows.
Having a house manual was a good thing, but it had not been updated and listed all kinds of supplies which were not in the unit. I had to write a list of what was not there, and what was to address the issue with the owner, whom we never met, as her cleaners are the ones making contact with guests.
The location of the unit is not really by the Byward Market and is in an area with sex shops and tattoo parlours.
The owner told me when I wrote an e-mail that I resented not having been told about this major road rebuilding, that she was sorry but thought that the work had stopped for the season as fences had been removed. Well, large billboards indicate that the work will end in Summer 2014.
Consequently, this was not overall, a pleasant stay. The construction taking place is of such a scale, that the information should be disclosed to potential guests, or the units should not be rented. Not disclosing the situation is not acceptable.
Host was not honest with us, as there was construction directly in front of the apartment, she did not notify us of this. She could have had the common courtesy to at least notify us and give us the opportunity to decline!
Space was much smaller than implied. Looked like bathroom mat had not been washed too recently. Was non-smoking but we could smell smoke residue, so had someone else been smoking there?
Futon couch was very, very well worn!
Absolutely NO SMOKE DETECTORS in the apartment, this is against the law in ONtario!!
I really liked the condo and location. It's small but clean and has all sorts of amenities that I don't have at home like an in house washer and dryer as well as a dishwasher and air conditioning. It is also well within walking distance of everything we wanted to do and see in Ottawa.
The only flaw was passing off the key to the condo. We were sitting on the porch for some time waiting to meet the assistant who was supposed to meet us. During our stay we also stepped over several families waiting to be let in as well. Punctuality was a problem but the venue was lovely.

I offer unique, super clean, and well equipped rental properties in Ottawa and I take my responsibilities seriously.
When I travel and stay in private homes I expect to have all the basics available (like spices, coffee, teas, sugar, bathroom tissue, laundry soap) as well as finding the kitchen to have an abundance of pots/pans, knives, serving bowls, baking sheets, casserole dishes, etc.
Since I have found this is not always the case, I understand how disappointing that can be, so I tend to go overboard and offer everything I can think of.
I am a retired interior designer and a Cordon Bleu grand diplome chef. I have taken my training and experience from these two fields and applied it to offering the best accommodations for my guests, including a well-stocked kitchen! :-))
