in a great FLAT Le Corbusier to Firminy, near the church, stadium and culture public home, a big bedroom with shower. and kitchen available to eat. Also Near Saint ETIENNE (15 mn) and LYON (1hour)
The apartment is fantastic! Beautifully furnished and very spacious. The room was nice as well and the en-suite shower is a plus. The town is not that exciting but for Le Corbusier's buffs this is the place to go. Fabrice is extremely accomodating and very welcoming. We arrived after a long motorcycle trip, soaked and late, however Fabrice waited for us and was very nice.
Fabrice kindly hosted us in his place for a couple of days and it was lovely. As Fabrice was on holiday at the time, he arranged for us to meet his neighbour who let us in. She showed us where everything was and made sure we were comfortable. We felt privileged to be able to stay at the Unités d’Habitation designed by Le Corbusier. It was a short stroll to the St Pierre Church also designed by him which has a museum that has some interesting facts about the buildings in Firminy. Thanks so much!!
Nous avons été très bien accueillis. C'est l'endroit idéal où séjourner si l'on veut s'imprégner du patrimoine Le Corbusier..
I would guess one of the main reason people would go to Firminy would be architecture nerds like myself. Fabrice's apartment, being at the Unite d'Habitation is the perfect accommodation for people like me and there is no other decent accommodation in Firminy anyway.
Fabrice's apartment is actually 2.5 standard unite apartments linked and appropriated for contemporary living (2 full ones and a studio apartment). The room is in the studio apartment and I had the whole room and the ensuite all to myself. In fact Fabrice was away for the night so I actually had the whole apartment all to myself. Having said they, I did manage to meet Fabrice. He was very accommodating for my earlier than planned/agreed arrival time to drop my bags off. He also gave me a lift to the train station in the morning. Needless to say he is a good host.
The apartment and room is clean, beautiful and spacious. I have no hesitation in recommending his place not only on airbnb but to all my other architecture nerd friends as well.
Fabrice could not accommodate us in his flat, but made effort to put us in touch with his neighbour, Brigitte, whom we stayed with for the night.. She was wonderfully friendly and very helpful. It was a privilege for us two architects to be staying in an actual flat in the Unite de Habitation by Le Corbusier, which is what we came to see. It is a wonderful space and an experience well worth the effort of the long trip there. There is a great restaurant: La Belle Époque, which serves local and Italian food that we can also recommend.
