Please take a moment to check them out, one of them may be a better fit for you.

This bedroom is a cozy fit for 2 people on a full-size bed. If you have more guests, up to 2 more people can sleep on the full-size futon in the living room. There is a China screen available that will provide some degree of privacy.

This is a beautiful and well maintained junior bedroom in a lovely two-bedroom apartment in the Astor Row area of central Harlem. This bedroom is clean and comfortable.

There are 2 windows that face east. Thus, the room is sunny and airy. The hardwood floor is freshly polished, and the ceiling is moderately high. The walls are clean with art work coming soon.

The eat-in kitchen is functional and well equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, and coffee maker. An iron and ironing board are available.

The bathroom is simple but clean and functional.

The living room has a futon/sofa bed. The entire place can be rented to an entire family of let’s say 5/6 people. There is an easy chair and a coffee table so you can relax in the living room if you choose to do so. There is also a desk and office chair, so you can work on or off your laptop or tablet with the WiFi connection.

Upon check-in you will have fresh linen, bed and personal. The place will be clean and you will be given your keys. And you will be asked for your photo Id. The common areas will be kept clean, with your help. If you make a mess please clean it up. Whatever you use please clean it after use. Also, please remove any trash in your room and place it in the trash can in the kitchen.

Neighborhood:
Central Harlem is a very vibrant community with all the necessary amenities. The apt is located on W. 131st Street between Malcolm X Blvd and 5th Ave. From 125th Street and Malcolm X Blvd., where the subway station I like to use is located, to 131st St. there are no less than 10 restaurants. There is a supermarket on the NE and a 24/7 Laundry Matt on the SE corner of 129th St & Malcolm X Blvd.
LIVE MUSIC: Thurs - Sunday at 449 LA Scat, located at 449 Malcolm X (email hidden)ll (phone number hidden) show time and artist. The SHRING: bar and restaurant and world music venue is a must visit.
The world famous Schomberg Center of Research in Black Culture is (email hidden) and Malcolm X Blvd. The Apollo Theater (email hidden) between 7 and 8 Aves. And there is so much more, just ask me.
Transportation:
There are 2 express train stations close by: 135th St and Malcolm X Blvd, 4 short blocks. And 125th St and Malcolm X Blvd. 5 short blocks. Both will get you to Times Square in less than 15 min. And you can get to all points in the city from both. If you are flying into the city and have the option of using LaGuardia Airport please do so. You will be a lot closer to the accommodations than any of the other 2 airports and have the option of using the M60 bus ($2.50) to get to the house.

My place is unique because it is in the Aster Row area that still reflects Harlem of some 30 - 50 years ago, very little of the Architecture has changed.

  • It was a perfect stay for our trip. 5-10 min walk from central subways and facilities sufficient for the purpose.

  • Overall we were happy with our room and host. We received the key one hour later than initially scheduled which we were okay with, because Wayne informed us early enough. He even helped us carrying our heavy luggage up to the fourth floor (there is no elevator). When we arrived at the apartment there were two more people who had booked the other room. The bathroom was not really clean but a few days later a maid cleaned up the whole apartment. The house is located in a safe and very convenient location, only 4 blocks (a 10 minute walk) from the subway station at 135th street and very close to the northern end of central park (3 stops), Lincoln center (~30min. including walking) and downtown (~40min. including walking). The apartment offers the most important amenities like a stove and some dishes glasses and mugs – a little more stuff like bowls and glasses would however be nice. We didn’t use the TV so no comment on that. The WiFi was okay but sometimes spotty in our room. The most annoying issue we had was the cracking of the floor occurring whenever the heating went on. It was so loud that we couldn’t sleep for hours – later we got more used to that noise. Apart from that our room was pretty quiet. In summary, this is a good place to stay if you are looking for something relatively cheap in an excellent location.

  • Very good place to stay in Harlem. The flat has only 2 rooms and it is close to stations 125th or 135th. Lane 2 and 3 are express which means you are in Times Square very fast. You can also take the bus M7 or 102...but it takes longer...Overall very good experience and very good price. Wayne is very friendly and he organised a dinner which was great. Thanks!

  • This was my second stay in one of Wayne's places and, once again, it was easy, convenient, and clean. Wayne was very accommodating of my travel schedule and I would not hesitate to stay with Wayne again.

  • My initial experience left something to be desired. I followed the amended instructions of going to Wayne's apartment to get keys, rather than directly to my room. The keys left for me didn't fit the doors. Not the way you want to begin.
Wayne did respond by bringing the correct keys and a blanket & comforter. The apartment is sparsely furnished, but meets the needs. For the price, it would be hard to beat this accommodation.
The neighborhood was safe & pleasant, except for noisey people a cross street who blast music into wee hours of morning.
Biggest issue was the roaches in this old building. Unsettling.
Wayne is a great guy & will try to make your stay positive & enjoyable. I'd rent from him again, but without the bugs.

  • Kay was very helpful in any problems we had. The room was convenient to the subway with lots of food options locally including a big supermarket and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed NYC!

  • Wayne was a great host! Super friendly and helpful to assist when we had any questions. Kay was also an amazing help! We were pleasantly surprised when we were welcomed by a BBQ event organized by Wayne and Kay.

The room was in a perfect location and close walk to the subway. We would definitely recommend staying here :)
