This place is hermit heaven. The accommodation is very private, looks exactly as listed, plenty of fresh fruits, eggs, and bread courtesy of Marina to last several days and even a tall jar of ros sirap in the fridge and popsicles in the freezer on my arrival. Bonus was the fluffy cat who comes every night of my stay to keep me company as I did my reading. There are plenty of books provided and more selection at the Rumah Ibu aka head office to borrow.
Marina was a lovely host from the get go. On fetching me from the airport, she took me down the route towards Chenang beach and showing where the shops, eateries, and the pharmacy is along the way to familiarise myself with the area. She was happy to drive me to MIEC for LIMA the next morning as she was on the way to run some errands. On the last evening of my stay she brought myself and the other guests to the pasar malam and gave them and introduced to them the various local foods.
The neighbourhood is very quiet and the people are friendly. Do ask her about the locations and timings of the stalls around the village selling dishes such as nasi lemak and laksa with traditional kuih and other sweet treats. The stalls are reachable with a few minutes of cycling and it felt safe for me to cycle alone as a female. I would not recommend cycling at night as there are very few street lights and you might hit a buffalo or a cow on the way. There is the neighbourhood watch monitoring the vehicles going through the village each night.
If you love going off the beaten track and "glamping" then this is the spot for you! This place is set in a beautiful location, not far from the beaches of Langkawi. Marina was a wonderful hostess, and picked us up and dropped us off without question. My husband enjoyed making pancakes with the fresh eggs and fruit provided to us! We couldn't have asked for a better stay.
Marina welcomed me at the airport. Showed me the Cenang area first where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. Then went back to her place. Very big bedrooms with a porch and a kitchenette just as described. Perfect place for a getaway.
Marina was an excellent host. She kept me company, took the time to explain all the questions I had. Ask her about Jam Rock, it's a hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle!
We had a great stay at Teratak Damai! Marina communicated very effectively with us prior to us arriving to Langkawi and picked us up from Kuah ferry. Marina was very kind and welcoming and kindly provided us with a basket of fruit and breakfast goodies including tea, coffee and eggs from her chickens! The place itself was very clean, with a kitchen and verandah area, and a bedroom with enough space for 3 people to share. Marina also provided us with bath towels and beach towels which was so useful for our stay in Langkawi.
Marina is a great host who really cares about her guest and this can be seen in her customer service! She really took care of us in Langkawi, giving us all the local information and very kindly took us to Tuesday's night market in Kedawang. Our only regret is that we wish we stayed for longer! We hope to visit Langkawi again and would love to come back to Teratak Damai!
It was a nice to stay at Marina’s place. We were relaxed with snappy room and peaceful atmosphere surrounded paddy field. Bird call woke us up in the morning and stadium of star let us rest in the night.
Marina and Ruben are great host! They took care of my brother who reached there by earlier flight. And when we gave up to go to the beach since it was too hot weather (temperature showed 32 degree, but I felt like more than 35 degree), but she suggested us alternative plan to enjoy nature of Langkawi island.
For future guest, I recommend you to ask her the direction in advance if you get there by car from jetty. Bit hard to find her place since hided place :)
host is very friendly，she help us a lot，and the house is very beautiful，it's comfortable for holiday，my sister love her cute cat and house very much

LOVE reading, gardening, wildlife, smell & sound of rain, open spaces, coffee, hammocks, wind in my face, travel, food & handmade craft.
I'm quirky, down-to-earth & practical. Quick to laugh with a dry sense of humour.
My husband Ruben the local drug dealer (he's a pharmacist) & I both suffered from burnout living in the city before moving to Langkawi (where we met) & making this our island paradise home. We are both Malaysians (of two different ethnic groups) who grew-up/studied/lived/worked in the UK & US (that's why one speaks with an American accent & the other a Yorkshire accent!). :D
We live here with our 4 cats, 3 teenage children, 1 hen, 1 jungle rooster & 1 male turkey surrounded by padi fields, swaying coconut trees, water buffaloes & visiting migratory birds with the beach only 10 minutes by bicycle & 5 minutes by car away from our home.
We welcome honest, sincere people who seek a little respite from the stresses of life & would like a taste of living in a quiet village environment surrounded by padi fields & a beautiful view of the Mat Cincang mountain range which is older than the Everest!
We live onsite and as a host we're available for help & enquiries but will give you plenty of privacy & space for you to relax & enjoy your holiday.
As travellers, we love travel tips from the locals on local sights & experiences! We love to explore or just sit quietly & read a book, drink coffee, soak in the atmosphere of the place we are visiting, are quiet & independent.
