FANTASTIC LOCATION!! Just ONE block from the FQ on Burgundy St. in the charming Marigny. Your room is part of NOLA's true historical shotgun style home, located on the 2nd floor. Enjoy the porch or balcony view. Also, I have 2 bikes for u if needed!!
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! Located just one block from the French Quarter in the charming triangle Marigny neighborhood, and a stone's throw from the famous Frenchmen Street. Perfect location for FQ Fest, Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras & other holidays/festivals thru out the year as well as just a nice weekend getaway.
The private nonsmoking room is on the 2nd floor and comes with a front porch overlooking the street into the FQ. Great to have a drink or app while enjoying the nice view. Enter into the house and you've entered into your room. Your room is part of a true historical New Orleans Shotgun style house. Each room is connected to the next room, one behind the other.
Your room features a full-size bed, sofa, hardwood floors, ceiling fan, a/c unit/heater, french doors with blinds for privacy, wireless internet, and lots of charm. There are some New Orleans books, magazines, novels, CDs, and maps on the shelves for you to enjoy during your stay as well.
The room is ideal for 1 person or 2 persons, but if you are in a party of 3, the sofa comes in handy. Extra sheets and blanket provided if needed.
The rest of the house is shared with me, with the 2nd room being the living room w/ cable tv and the 3rd room is the bathroom with a small hallway. The 4th room is my bedroom and the 5th is the kitchen with the balcony overlooking rooftops.
In order to get to the kitchen, you enter thru my bedroom. My door is always open, early morning or late at night. I don't mind my guests walking thru my room at all, at any time. I can use the back door to enter/exit the apartment if you prefer.
You are welcome to use the fridge to store food and/or stove to cook. I have assorted teas, coffee, and filtered water for you to enjoy on the balcony if you would like. The balcony is more private and quiet and offers a nice view overlooking rooftops, courtyards, and greenery. Great to enjoy an early morning or a late evening. All of the silverware, glasses, cups, plates, bowls are stored together in one cabinet in the kitchen, easily to locate.
This Bed/Bath comes with fresh, clean towels & wash cloths and sheets & bedding & blanket. It also has a luggage rack, a small hanging area, and a couple of empty shelfs to store your things, and 3 drawers. In the bathroom, there is liquid soap, shampoo & conditioner, and lotion available. And in the kitchen, there is a washer/dryer for your convenience, if needed.
If you have a car, there is street parking available. I would give you a guest pass so you are able to park on the street for free in this area. Once here, most of my guests travel by foot because of the great location. I do offer 2 bikes and 2 bike locks to use at no charge ($100 if stolen/damaged) to explore the city as well. Going down Esplanade Avenue to City Park and NOMA, offers a smooth street and roomy bike lane. If you want to explore uptown, the Street Car travels from downtown Canal Street to uptown on St. Charles Avenue to universities, in the areas of Magazine Street, the zoo, and other fine venues. The street car does go slow, but it can be a relaxing, enjoyable time, plus you can get off the street car anytime. And lastly, there is always the bus stop that is just around the corner from my house.
As of September 2014, I have 2 cats: Cloe and Jax.
Cloe is 12 years old. Jax is 4 months old as of November 2014. Cloe is friendly, fat, and fabulous! She stays in my bedroom and/or the kitchen. Jax is friendly, fast, and fierce! He is curious about the unknown. That is why it's very important to keep the out doors closed at all times.
[In August, 2014, for one month only, I had just one cat, (In some of the reviews, the guests mention that i have 3 lovely cats, however, Stinky went to Kitty Heaven on November 30, 2013, and Fraidy Cat went on August 5, 2014. so there was only 1 cat in August of 2014, and her name is Cloe. But now i have Jax too.]
You'll love the stay here and you'll fall in love with New Orleans as I have.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
The guests will have access from the front door to the back door and anything in between. The house is a historical shotgun style, meaning one room is connected to next, except the bathroom.
The guests' room comes with the front porch with table/chairs and greenery that overlooks a pretty nice view into the FQ. The guests' room is also the 1st room of the house, And my bedroom is the 3rd room of the house and we have a shared living room and bathroom in between us. Then there is the kitchen and balcony at the backend of the house. You will have access thru out every room, yes of course my room, the kitchen is the last room!
I can use the back door to enter/exit the house. Sometimes I use the front door but only if my guests are cool with that. (Occasionally, i may receive a package or someone knocks on the door, etc. etc.) Otherwise, i will use the back door if my guests prefer that.
My guests will have access to:
Anything in your bedroom: 2 bikes, 2 locks, books, maps, brochures, menus, boardgames, wireless internet
bathroom - liquid soap, shampoos, lotion, towels sets, first-aid kit, hair dryer if needed
Kitchen - coffee maker, cooking, fridge to store your foods, filtered water, assorted teas & coffee
Porch & Balcony - the side that aligns with my apartment.
Street parking - available for free, but i have to give you a visitor parking pass to be placed on the passenger side of your car.
Off limits - driveway and backyard. My guests do not have access to park in the driveway of the house or hangout in the backyard. The driveway and the backyard belong to the tenant that resides below me.
Interaction with Guests
I give my guests a tour of the house and show a quick map of where we are located and the direction of places and sites to see as well as nearby good food places.
After welcoming and a house tour, I interact with guests as much or as little. I feel the vibe and act accordingly. It really depends on the guests if they want to interact or want privacy. Regardless, I'm here to answer any questions and solve any concerns. I am always present during the guests' stay.
Marigny, a charming little triangle neighborhood of diversity and friendliness. Streets of beautiful colorful old houses of victorian, shotguns, and camelbacks.
This artsy neighborhood offers Art! Music! Food! Festivals! Culture! and more, just a foot step away...
Another great thing about the Marigny is its location. It's located right next to the French Quarter. You can experience both worlds.
Some places to consider: Buffa's, The Spotted Cat, Three Muses, Cosimo's, Port-of-Call, Croissant D'or, Verte Marte, Snug Harbor, Cake Cafe', Satuma's, Cafe' DuMonde, The Art Market, The French Market, Frenchmen Street, and many other restaurants, bars, galleries, venues and streets that are close by.
Getting around the city:
Walking for short distances! Bikes are good too, for longer distances for sure.
If you want to explore uptown or City Park or NOMA, you may want to ride a little history in a New Orleans old streetcar. They still have the mahogany seats, brass fittings and exposed light bulbs from the historical era, but they also have a/c to accommodate our hot summers!! Their routes take you uptown, mid city and riverfront. The ride isn't fast, but the views can be nice, and you can get off/on anytime. Canal Street would be the street to get on one of these lovely streetcars.
And there is always the bus. The bus stop is just two blocks away from my house.
Getting to my house from the airport:
The cab is the fastest way. It's approximately 30 minutes to/from airport to/from my house. The taxis charge a standard flat rate of $33 (plus tip) to/from the airport to/from downtown New Orleans. $14 extra for each additional person after 2.
If you are a party of one, you can save a little bit of money and take the shuttle. They charge you $20 per person (plus tip) and can drop you off at the nearest hotel, if you don't mind a couple of stops and walking the rest of the way to my house. The nearest hotel is 1 block away.
If it is a weekday and you want to save on money and don't mind the longer ride and stops (approximately 1 hour), and about a 2 mile walk, you can take the bus. It's $2. It provides service from the airport to New Orleans CBD. The bus stop is on the upper level of the airport.
No smoking inside, but the front porch is just a step away.
Respect property and neighbors. No loud noise.
Please do not bring strangers or friends into my home unless you let me know in advance.
Keep Cloe and Jax, my indoor cats inside. Keep doors that go to the outside closed at all times.
If you have a car, i have a parking pass for you. But please return it with the key when you check out.
2 bikes and 2 u-locks are free to use, but just in case bikes are stolen or damaged, replacement cost for each bike is $300. Lost or stolen locks & keys are $50 each. Basket is $50. Cup holders are $15 each. You're welcome to replace any bike accessory lost, stolen, or damaged from a bike store, it may be a little cheaper. If the bike is damaged, but less than $300 to fix, you are welcome to get it fixed and pay the lesser cost to the store. I understand wear & tear and regular maintenance will happen. I accept no liability if you are injured in an accident.
I prefer you to clean your hair and any of your gunk from the drain of the sink and tub after you use it.
In short, our stay with Debbie was great. She was extremely friendly, available, and willing to give us ideas on restaurants, etc. While we had to share a bathroom, it really wasn't an issue at all. We hardly knew she was there. And her cats were a blast to play with as well. The location is just a short couple blocks to the heart of the Quarter. It was a great location, a wonderful hostess, and we'll definitely visit again.
Debbie was a great host. We arrived pretty early in the morning, and she was accommodating and friendly, showing us around her home and providing everything we might need. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept beautifully. We had a great time, and she was always available for questions. We especially enjoyed being greeted by Jax, and Debbie even let us keep our things there on our last day until we left that night. Great experience!
It was delightful staying at Debbie's. The space felt wonderful - full of light and up high. A perfect perch from which to view the amazing folks of NOLA! And, there were some exceptional sights to see from that porch. Debbie is a sweetheart - I very much enjoyed meeting her - quite an interesting woman! She was kind enough to spend some time with me as I was traveling alone and I really enjoyed her company. The cats are also a joy. It was a solidly good experience!
Debbie was a fantastic host! The place was exactly as described, comfortable, clean, and had everything we could possibly need. It quickly became our home away from home, as we dashed in and out, only to return to a marvelously comfortable bed. Fresh sheets, towels and even mints were close by, along with shampoo and other things one might have forgotten. She made sure all our needs were met and all questions were answered. She was very accommodating and an overall lovely host. The 2 bikes were such a plus! We were able to see the city at a leisurely pace and saved a ton of money on taxis! The location was perfect, and the neighborhood is conveniently close to everything and very safe. Choosing to stay here made our trip such a memorable one and we really couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Debbie was a great host, full of helpful recommendations and very friendly. The space was clean and neat, just as described, and definitely full of charm! The neighborhood was cute and well situated to be close to Frenchmen St., good food in the Marigny and Bywater, and still just steps from the French Quarter. The neighborhood was generally pretty quiet, and friendly. Overall, could not have asked for a better experience! Very happy!
Amazing three day stay at Charm with host Debbie Easley. Very charming setup. Debbie couldn't have been more helpful, in fact Airbnb and Debbie kept in contact before we arived to make sure of our details for booking, arrival, reminder of her address and phone number. She was also very helpful with maps, directions, recommending restaurants and cafes.
The locatation could'nt have been better. Very close to Frenchman St where all the action is in the evening. Restaurant/bars with Jazz bands, loved it. Good food, music and ambience. We walked all over the city, but mostly in the French Quarter.
A very wellcomming place near all attractions in NOLA , french quarter, frenchmen street...
We really recommend this address, and Debbie is very sympathic.
Hi! I'm fun, adventurous, and sociable. I recently went back to school to study visual arts. I'm ABSOLUTELY in love with New Orleans. I live in a fantastic historic neighborhood one block from the French Quarter and a couple of blocks from Frenchmen St. My lovely house is close to great restaurants, music venues, cafes and galleries. Come stay! I'm sure you'll love it too!!
