The Space

ABOUT THE APARTMENT:
This beautiful, quiet and clean apartment is located Manhattan's Morningside Heights/West Harlem neighborhood close to Columbia University. The fully furnished, fourth floor walk-up apartment is great for a leisurely or sight-seeing trip to the city, due to the proximity to the subway. The 1 Subway line is a block from the apartment!

The corner apartment unit with windows in every room, features a full kitchen (with a microwave and coffee maker), a living and dining space (with a couch and two person dining table) and a bedroom area with a queen size bed.

NEIGHBORHOOD:
The apartment is located in Manhattan's Morningside Heights/West Harlem neighborhood a block away from Riverside Park. Columbia University, Manhattan School of Music and Riverside Church are all within a short few blocks. Just outside the building there are several delis, restaurants and bars, including two of my favorites Kitchenette and Dinosaur BBQ. Harlem’s famous Apollo Theatre and The Cotton Club are both just a 10 minute walk away.

PUBLIC TRANSIT:
The 1 subway train is located at 125th Street and Broadway (just north of the apartment, a block away). The 1 train will have you Midtown Manhattan in 10 minutes! Lower Manhattan in 20! For those of you who like to take taxis, there are plenty of taxis to hail right outside the apartment. The M60 bus also gets you to/from LaGuardia airport.

PARKING:
Street parking is quite accessible in the neighborhood and easy, since street cleaning only happens twice a week.

AMENITIES:
Free wifi, great sound system you can connect your iPod or iPhone to and pretty much everything you need to be comfortable.

The apartment has everything you need for a fun NYC experience! Just contact me to get your trip started!

  • Dana's apartment was just perfect!
Plenty of space for 2 people, 2 min walk to the subway, lots of shops and restaurants around and also a place to do laundry just next door.
    We felt right at home!
    Thanks Dana and Moji!

  • We have mixed feelings about our stay.
We never met Dana, but Moji a friend, was very nice and helpfull.
The appartment is not very clean, especially the kitchen needs a good cleaning and some plates and coffee mugs, would come in handy.
The bed is not very comfortable.
The shower is good, and the bathroom lookedd like the cleanest place in the appartment, but there were still a lot of hairs on the floor.
And even though the place isnt very expensive and I don't have high standards, I don't see why it can't be cleaner.
The neigborhood is fine and New York is just great!!

  • Dana's place was awesome!!! I've stayed at a few apartments in NY and this was by far one of the best. It was located right next to the subway and there was a airport bus shuttle which runs every 10 min. The apartment had all the amenities and Dana was super flexible with our check in and check out time. He was easy to keep on contact with and his friend Moji was very helpful. There were some great restaurants located right below and an awesome BBQ place (Dinosaurs) around the corner. There was a great walking trail a few blocks that had scenic views. Overall, I would recommend this place and hope to visit again!!!

  • Dana's place is located in a quieter area 22 minutes (by Subway) north of Times Square. We found it very convenient to get to everywhere we had planned since the apt was one block away from a station on the red line.

Our stay was during the last week of Thanksgiving. It was around 0-10 degrees Celsius -- borderline parka weather! We were warm most of the time and occasionally chilly since we didn't know how to control the heater. We wore extra layers and it was all fine. Be sure to ask if you plan on staying during the winter.

The apartment had lots of space for 2 people. In my opinion, it could accommodate a couple and one other person. There was a double (?) bed and a sofa.

I agree that Dana's place is clean however it is older than most places I've stayed before (this is speaking from a Vancouver / Toronto suburb standard!). I was happy to find that the washroom was really clean. We didn't bother using the kitchen because it was a little cramped. I think the place looked a bit newer and less cluttered in the photos.

There are several flights of stairs that you need to take to get up to the apt. It isn't bad at all day-to-day, but with luggage it was rather frustrating.

Dana's friends Renee and Moji are very friendly. Dana was great at communicating via AirBnB before our visit, always prompt. He responded quickly to my texts for check-in and check-out. We were very grateful for his flexibility and smooth communication.

The neighborhood seemed quiet. There's a grocery store downstairs and a good Ramen place (Jin) down the block.

I would recommend this apt to anyone who is traveling on a budget and wouldn't mind taking the subway in and out of midtown.

  • I loved this place. Convenient to the subway, lots of eating and a drug store nearby, quiet and spacious. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Super cute apartment in a great neighborhood. Short walk to several subways. It's a 5th floor walk-up, so it's a bit of a hike, but it's quiet and the AC worked great. We'll be staying here again.

  • The apartment is spacious and quiet. Lots of windows with green and sun. When I was there it was very hot. Had to crank the AC to the max with little effect. Sleeping compartment also smelled a bit damp. Probably better on cooler days. Still great location for a good price. Btw: Bettolona is a good italian restaurant with very friendly people down-stairs.
