Other Things to Note
Our farm has a number of fruit trees: banana, avocado, papaya, lime and macadamia nut trees dot the property alongside the coffee trees. Guests are welcome to pick any ripe fruit that happens to be in season on the property.
Our kitchen and dining areas are enclosed with large screened windows, open to the ocean breezes and the scent of night-blooming jasmine, white ginger and other tropical floral delicacies.
Smoking is not permitted in or near the cottage. If you do smoke, please do so outdoors away from the unit.
I loved tha fact that Rainbow Ohana is located in a very quiet neighbourhood. Also, Beth repeatedly made sure that I had everything I needed, thanks!
During my stay, the washing machine didn't work properly - but I'm sure it's being fixed as fast as possible.
Only negative point: Even though the mosquito netting keeps out bugs and mosquitos, it doen't keep out smaller flies that croud your glasses while having dinner. However, once you retire to the sleeping area, there are no flies/bugs at all!!
Mahalo for staying at Rainbow Ohana. The peaceful atmosphere is one of my favorite things about our location. I'm sorry that the washer went out while you were staying there. And yes, it has already been repaired. Just a note about the small fruit flies: I have only found them to be a problem when I have ripe fruit left uncovered in the kitchen/dining area. I don't know if that is why they were there but I will pass along this tip to future travelers. They don't normally seem to be so bothersome. Again, thanks for the feedback and I hope you will consider us for future trips to the Big Island. You were a terrific guest!
I had a beautiful, exciting, relaxing time at Beth's place! My daughter was busy catching geckos with bananas that were hanging out, it also attracted a lot of beautiful birds! We felt like locals because the spot felt remote and very private. Sunsets and sunrises right in the screened in kitchen. My husband wanted to stay in a condo but I convinced him about having a "local" experience on the islands is totally different then staying at a condo! He absolutely loved it!
Mahalo & Love
I fell in love with the Big Island several years ago and in 2007 I had the opportunity to buy a place of my own on the Kona coast. I really enjoy sharing the beauty of my Hawaiian cottage with others. I can't be on the island full-time and sharing this incredible place with you brings me joy. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as I do when I am on the Big Island.
I love being part of the historical Kona coffee growing area of the island. I can watch the coffee cherries mature over the year from the delicate white coffee flowers to the deep red of ripe coffee cherry ready for harvest. I also enjoy the cooler temperatures at our elevation of 1100 feet above sea level. The cottage is a very comfortable place to stay any time of the year.
