The Space

Sit on the patio and have a glass of wine, enjoy the view of the Hollywood sign (and the ocean if theres no smog), pick some herbs from the garden, grill something on the bbq and enjoy the splendor of this renovated 1909 cottage!

The master bedroom has a ridiculously comfortable down pillow-top king size bed, with a headboard made from wood that was salvaged during renovation.

Sheets, towels, dishes, and all necessary odds and ends supplied. Closet and dresser space also available to hang and put stuff.

The kitchen with original formica from the 50's and a beautiful Gaffers & Sattler stove has all the necessities - fridge, toaster, coffee maker and good cookware.

Free wifi, 55" flatscreen HDTV, cable, and DVD in living room.

The house is 1 mile from Sunset Blvd. a 15-min walk to Elysian Park (home of Dodger Stadium), and there are lots of great restaurants, shops, bars and cafes nearby including Red Hill, The Fix, Sage, Mohawk Bend, Elf, Taix, Two Boots Pizza, and The Echo.

Ample free parking on the street, with NO street cleaning restrictions - so you'll never get a ticket on my block!

Downtown is 5 minutes away by car, and the 2, 5, 101 and 110 freeways are all very close. Burbank is 15 mins, and against rush hour traffic.

This is my house, but I travel a lot. The other house, next door, is also an Airbnb rental but the houses are not connected and each has plenty of privacy. (See for the other house).

Guest Access

Access to the back patio, weber gas grill and garden (with fresh herbs and vegetables), access to any of the fruit trees (lime, lemon, grapefruit, persimmon, kumquat, orange - all seasonal).

Interaction with Guests

This is my house I rent out while traveling, so I won't be around. I'm always available by phone/email/text for any questions.

The Neighborhood

Echo Park is a very unexpected LA neighborhood - lots of hills (including Baxter, the steepest street in LA) and great views. It's very unlike the stereotype of LA (Sunset Strip) and yet it's very close to great cafes, restaurants and night life.

  • Dan was a great host! The list of local recommendations he provided was especially helpful, particularly since it was our first time to Echo Park / Silver Lake. His place was exactly as it was pictured, and my best friend and I felt so comfortable there. His communication with us up to our arrival was friendly and responsive. It was a treat to experience this new neighborhood in this well-appointed home with a lovely outside area and a view!

    Response from Dan:

Good suggestions! Also, re the lock - it works, I think you must've just been doing something incorrectly. No big deal. I'll look over my instructions to see if I left something out. Thanks!

  • Despite Dan being away while we stayed at his magnificent, quaint and tidy abode his communication was impeccable and his generosity absolute. I would HIGHLY recommend staying at this quiet home on the hill in Echo Park. I will be back and recommending Dan's place to others.

  • Although I never got to meet Dan (as he was overseas), we were greeted by a clean, accommodating home space. Super nice location and so many good local spots to walk to. Communication was easy, and house was comfortable. Patio was an outstanding place to have wine and drinks in the evenings! He (email hidden) to his local favorite restaurants and hangouts, and included day trip ideas, which was a great addendum to my existing knowledge of LA, and helpful in my effort to show my folks around. Thanks, would def stay again.

  • Located in a very cool neighborhood, Echo Park, this house is a gem! I didn't stay overnight -- but I used the house for a photo shoot (as I don't live in the area). The house was absolutely beautiful -- clean, bright, and the furniture was cool too. :)

The exterior was amazing as well! I wish I could have stayed longer & enjoyed all the cactus, succulents, etc. But I definitely enjoyed the short time I was able to be there!

  • This house is just amazing. Dan has great taste and this is surely the nicest place I have ever rented. Seriously, it's that nice. The house is like a little escape within LA, high up on a hill, away from traffic but still close enough to explore great local food and shops. Dan was super friendly and helpful and an overall great host. I will aim to stay here every time I come to LA.

  • Nice and clean home away from home! The place is perfectly located close to downtown, Hollywood and freeways...

It has a nice view and all the amenities you need.
You also have on street parking which is very convenient.

Dan was always available to answer our questions and provided us with good tips (restaurants, shops etc..) in the area.

Try it you won't regret it!
