This house is like being in the country—but very close to all the cool/fun stuff in Echo Park. It has has tons of charm, and lots of light.
The house was recently featured in the New York Times Home & Garden section.
Sit on the patio and have a glass of wine, enjoy the view of the Hollywood sign (and the ocean if theres no smog), pick some herbs from the garden, grill something on the bbq and enjoy the splendor of this renovated 1909 cottage!
The master bedroom has a ridiculously comfortable king size bed, with a headboard made from wood that was salvaged during renovation.
Sheets, towels, dishes, and all necessary odds and ends supplied. Closet and dresser space also available to hang and put stuff.
The kitchen with original formica from the 50's and a beautiful Gaffers & Sattler stove has all the necessities - fridge, toaster, coffee maker and good cookware.
Free wifi, 55" flatscreen HDTV, cable, and DVD in living room.
The house is 1 mile from Sunset Blvd. a 15-min walk to Elysian Park (home of Dodger Stadium), and there are lots of great restaurants, shops, bars and cafes nearby including Red Hill, The Fix, Sage, Mohawk Bend, Elf, Taix, Two Boots Pizza, and The Echo.
Ample free parking on the street, with NO street cleaning restrictions - so you'll never get a ticket on my block!
Downtown is 5 minutes away by car, and the 2, 5, 101 and 110 freeways are all very close. Burbank is 15 mins, and against rush hour traffic.
This is my house, but I'll be living next door in the guest house for a bit. The other house, next door, is usually an Airbnb rental but the houses are not connected and each has plenty of privacy. (See https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/723736 for the other house).
Shared access to the back patio, weber gas grill and garden (with fresh herbs and vegetables), access to any of the fruit trees (lime, lemon, grapefruit, persimmon, kumquat, orange - all seasonal).
Interaction with Guests
I'll be next door in the guest house, but the two houses are very private. I'm always available by phone/email/text for any questions.
Echo Park is a very unexpected LA neighborhood - lots of hills (including Baxter, the steepest street in LA) and great views. It's very unlike the stereotype of LA (Sunset Strip) and yet it's very close to great cafes, restaurants and night life.

Perfect little getaway. The house is well sited on a nicely landscaped property. Great views all around, bright and airy, easy street parking and convenient location. This place has all the amenities you will need. Super cute and simple inside. Dan is most helpful and a sweet and considerate host. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone. Five stars!!!
Dan's place was a nice cozy cottage with very beautiful surroundings. House had all amenities. Nice peaceful neighborhood. Dan was always quick to respond and provided detailed information. Overall we had a nice stay!
Dans place was great - easy to access, easy to park. The house is very well organized for guests. All instructions for wifi, TV etc were clear and we had absolutely no problems.
Safe, clean & lovely. I rented the house for my mom while she was in town and she thoroughly enjoyed her stay.
Flannel sheets were a nice touch for these winter nights.
Beautiful sunsets and views of the hills and DTLA from the yard.
Dan's place was a a really cute, quaint little house that was just perfect for two people. We had a great time! The house was just as described and Dan made sure to outfit it with every comfort and amenity needed. He was responsive and definitely made sure we had all we needed. Although he wasn't there and we never had the pleasure of meeting him, he left us a nice little package of information that was very detailed and thought- out. No complaints! Thanks Dan! :)
Dans place was lovely. Just as described and in a great neighborhood with a wonderful view.
Dan's place is awesome. It's perfectly located in Echo Park on a quiet street with great views. Everything is well appointed and it's easy to feel right at home. With keypad access on the gate and front door, it's easy in and out, and Dan sent over detailed instructions on everything before I arrived. Even though he was in London while I was there, it never took more than an hour to get an email back. The furniture is comfortable, the patios are great, and the espresso maker does the job. There was almost always parking right in front of the gate as well. I told Dan that if he ever wants to sell this house, I'd buy. Thanks!!
I will look back on my stay at Dan's magical little place as if it was a scene from a calm dream. The space allows the mind to breath. It's simple, perfectly decorated (especially if you're into mid-century modern) and he's managed to equip it with every amenity you forgot you needed.
And the fact is, the house itself is only 1/2 the equation. The outdoor spaces are just as enchanting as the resident David Byrne coffee table book and the vintage "The Long Goodbye" poster on the wall. The backyard represents the quintessential LA escape. The views themselves will make you forget you were ever stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the 110.
Thanks for being such a fantastic host, Dan! Hope I get a chance to stay here again!

I've been hosting on Airbnb for over a year and love it. I know how to respect a place as I'd want my place respected. I'm clean and courteous!
