About This Listing
This house is like being in the country—but very close to all the cool/fun stuff in Echo Park. It has has tons of charm, and lots of light.
The house was recently featured in the New York Times Home & Garden section.
Sit on the patio and have a glass of wine, enjoy the view of the Hollywood sign (and the ocean if theres no smog), pick some herbs from the garden, grill something on the bbq and enjoy the splendor of this renovated 1909 cottage!
The master bedroom has a ridiculously comfortable king size bed, with a headboard made from wood that was salvaged during renovation.
Sheets, towels, dishes, and all necessary odds and ends supplied. Closet and dresser space also available to hang and put stuff.
The kitchen with original formica from the 50's and a beautiful Gaffers & Sattler stove has all the necessities - fridge, toaster, coffee maker and good cookware.

The house is 1 mile from Sunset Blvd. a 15-min walk to Elysian Park (home of Dodger Stadium), and there are lots of great restaurants, shops, bars and cafes nearby including Red Hill, The Fix, Sage, Mohawk Bend, Elf, Taix, Two Boots Pizza, and The Echo.
Ample free parking on the street, with NO street cleaning restrictions - so you'll never get a ticket on my block!
Downtown is 5 minutes away by car, and the 2, 5, 101 and 110 freeways are all very close. Burbank is 15 mins, and against rush hour traffic.
This is my house, but I'll be traveling. The other house, next door, is usually an Airbnb rental but the houses are not connected and each has plenty of privacy. (See https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/723736 for the other house).
Access to the back patio, weber gas grill and garden (with fresh herbs and vegetables), access to any of the fruit trees (lime, lemon, grapefruit, persimmon, kumquat, orange - all seasonal).
Exclusive use of the amazing new hot tub!
Interaction with Guests
There's another guest house next door, but the two houses are separate and very private from each other. I'm always available by phone/email/text for any questions.
Echo Park is a very unexpected LA neighborhood - lots of hills (including Baxter, the steepest street in LA) and great views. It's very unlike the stereotype of LA (Sunset Strip) and yet it's very close to great cafes, restaurants and night life.

Absolutely no smoking in the house please. Dogs welcome with approval.
Beautiful home perfect for those looking for a "local" experience. Walking distance to local shops and amenities, and a park and hiking trails are nearby. If you are bringing car or renting one--finding parking in LA can be a nightmare, so was very happy to having a parking spot included. Aside from the beautifully appointed home, the garden and the view provides a nice break from the downtown hustle and bustle. Dan is a very thoughtful host who pays attention to detail--he even asked for our coffee creamer preference to have a fresh one ready for our arrival. Very responsive and answered all of our questions promptly.
Dan was an excellent host. He was at the house when we first arrived and showed us around the property. The house was the perfect size for 2 people and the backyard was unreal. He also left us a list of all the best restaurants and things to do in the area, which was super helpful. We'd definitely stay at Dan's place again next time we're in the LA area.
Perfect little getaway. The house is well sited on a nicely landscaped property. Great views all around, bright and airy, easy street parking and convenient location. This place has all the amenities you will need. Super cute and simple inside. Dan is most helpful and a sweet and considerate host. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone. Five stars!!!
Dan's place was a nice cozy cottage with very beautiful surroundings. House had all amenities. Nice peaceful neighborhood. Dan was always quick to respond and provided detailed information. Overall we had a nice stay!
Dans place was great - easy to access, easy to park. The house is very well organized for guests. All instructions for wifi, TV etc were clear and we had absolutely no problems.
Safe, clean & lovely. I rented the house for my mom while she was in town and she thoroughly enjoyed her stay.
Flannel sheets were a nice touch for these winter nights.
Beautiful sunsets and views of the hills and DTLA from the yard.
Dan's place was a a really cute, quaint little house that was just perfect for two people. We had a great time! The house was just as described and Dan made sure to outfit it with every comfort and amenity needed. He was responsive and definitely made sure we had all we needed. Although he wasn't there and we never had the pleasure of meeting him, he left us a nice little package of information that was very detailed and thought- out. No complaints! Thanks Dan! :)
Dans place was lovely. Just as described and in a great neighborhood with a wonderful view.
