Bywater is classic New Orleans, but without the brashness and noise of the French Quarter.
We now offer complimentary bicycles, complete with locks and helmets, for our guests (just a refundable deposit and liability waiver required). This makes it real easy to get around as New Orleans has NO HILLS! Also bus route no.5 runs by the end of the block straight to the French Quarter and downtown areas. There is also free on-street parking right outside the house.

The hosts were on vacation so I was greeted by their sister, Liza. She was very available and informative.
The room in this little house is small but comfortable. I appreciated the welcoming touch of a chilled bottle of wine.
Love the neighborhood, so close to the park and the river. Great restaurants really close by. Fun bars too. I walked or biked everywhere during the day but if you are traveling alone I recommend calling a taxi at night.
We had a comfortable place to stay and thought the courtyard was lovely. After my personal bicycle was stolen from downtown, the bikes that came with our rental helped us enjoy the rest of our time there. The room was clean, quiet and welcoming and we would gladly return!
We had a great time at Matt and Dusty's - they made us feel very welcome and the room was very comfortable. There was also a nice bottle of wine waiting for us which we thought was a lovely, welcome addition! Unfortunately we didn't get to meet either of them as we were out and about most of the time, but they communicated well before our arrival and left us in the capable hands of Matt's sister when they went out of town - Liza was very friendly and gave us some good recommendations for what was going on in NOLA on Easter Sunday. The location was great - nice, quiet neighbourhood and a short bus ride to the French Quarter. There are also loads of great bars and places to eat within walking distance nearby. We didn't use the bikes but it was good to know that they were there if we needed them - Matt and Dusty provided helmets and locks for the bikes too. Thanks Matt and Dusty - we would definitely recommend your place for anyone visiting NOLA!
I had a wonderful 3 night stay. Dusty and Matt could not be friendlier or more generous. The location on the edge of the Bywater district is super cool and the use of the available bikes is the perfect way to get around and see all that Nola has to offer. I definitely recommend.
I absolutely LOVED this place! Dusty made me feel so warm and welcome the entire time, and the location is fantastic for wandering through the Bywater. While bikes were available, we found we didn't even need to use them as there was so much to do within walking distance. Plenty of neighborhood bars, restaurants, and shops are a hop, skip, and a jump away - as well as a fantastic park overlooking the Mississippi!
I really enjoyed that both Dusty and his other guests were so friendly and pleasant. Did I mention that there was a nice bottle of wine waiting for me in the fridge when I arrived, as well as chilled water, coffee, tea, cream, and sugar! I highly recommend staying here, and will DEFINITELY be back on my next trip!

About the Host, Matt McShee
Matt and Dusty love New Orleans so much, we want y'all to come and stay at our house so you can fall in love with it too. We travel a lot, but coming home to the "Big Easy" is always a pleasure. Dusty is a true Southern Gentleman, born in New Orleans, raised in Alabama. Matt is a Scot, raised in London, who moved to New Orleans on a temporary assignment, and fell in love with the city and the people. There is nowhere else we'd rather be for Mardi Gras, Jazzfest, Southern Decadence, Halloween etc. Laissez les bons temps roulez!
