About this listing
Single room with two spacious drawers under bed, single wardrobe, blanket box, locker and three deep storage drawers
I love to welcome foreign visitors to my home, which is warm and comfortable, and has an enclosed back garden with a lawn, pond and shrubbery as well as seating areas.
I'm within 7 minutes' walk to public transport (bus or train) and the coast, where there are lovely walks. My home is six miles from Dublin city centre, which is 15 minutes away by train and I'm close to all public amenities. There's a small shopping centre with all essentials just 2 minutes' walk away. The neighbourhood is quiet and the neighbours are friendly.
I live 20 minutes' drive from the airport, making it an ideal location for a stopover on the way to or from the airport.
I enjoy walking, cycling, cooking, having friends over, reading, board games, cinema and theatre. I have a long-standing ambition to take dance classes and this year have added Spanish classes to my bucket list ... one of these days!
No curfew but please be respectful of others after 11pm
Ruth is a truly wonderful host. We really enjoyed our stay at her beautiful house. When we first arrived Ruth went out of her way and took us for a drive around the area which was so great as we wouldn't have had a chance to see it otherwise. Ruth is so lovely and easy to talk to. We highly recommend her & her home. We hope to be back one day :) (ps the location is also great with the train station just a 5 minute walk away!)
Ruth is the nicest. She was immediately welcoming and very friendly. She made our arrival quite smooth. It was absolutely lovely staying with Ruth, she was incredibly generous and a pleasure to stay with. We had an amazing trip and much of that is thanks to Ruth's warm welcome and lovely location. The DART is quite close and convenient for getting into the city center while still being a calm and quiet place to come back to out of the bustle of central areas. I would highly recommend staying with Ruth!
Ruth was an amazing host! She made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Ruth even picked us up by the train station in the rain while we were walking to her home! Her house is located by a few shops and near some great walks by the water! The train station is close by and a quick ride to Dublin city centre.
This was our first airbnb experience and it could not have been better!
Ruth helped us to organise our arrival and gave us the exact directions in advance - we had no problems to find our way to her house. From the minute we arrived at her door, she made us feel very welcome.
The room is perfectly clean and as comfortable as it can get. The rest of the house is lovely too, just as pictured.
Preparing breakfast in the kitchen and having a cup of tea while watching birds in the garden made us feel at home from day one.
Kilbarrack is pleasantly quiet.
Another advantage is that it only takes a minute from home to reach the supermarket and a few restaurants.
It's also no problem to get to or back from the city centre by train during the day or with a taxi, if you're planning to stay out a little longer ;-)
The walk to North Bull Island is really nice for half a day outside of the city. We also (highly!) recommend a trip to Howth (10 minutes away) with its lovely lighthouse and great restaurants. You can take a boat ride around Ireland's Eye - the view is absolutely stunning.
Last but not least: Ruth was more than just a host - not only did she give us tips about where to go and what to visit, she even took us on a ride to show us the area. She is hospitable, helpful and fun to talk to.
She and her wonderful home made our stay in Dublin even more unforgettable.
Our holiday was over way too fast and we're definitely planning on coming back and living with Ruth again someday.
Don't hesitate to book - you won't regret it!
Thank you so much, Ruth!

Ruth est une femme charmante qui nous a accueillis chaleureusement ! Le logement, très agréable, est proche de la gare et d un petit centre commercial. Si nous devions revenir à Dublin, nous retournerions sans hésiter chez notre adorable hôtesse !
Ruth made us feel so very welcome from the minute we knocked on her door. She is a bright, hospitable person and was so helpful, informative and kind. I would definitely suggest Ruth to anyone who is visiting Dublin. You won't regret it one bit!!
The room and house were exactly as described and the location is within a 5-10 minute walk to DART (depending on your walking speed!) For reference, in summer of 2015 a return from Kilbarrick to Dublin Tara Street (the closer one to Temple Bar/centre) was 4.20 per person.
Thank you Ruth for a fabulous stay! :)
Pete and Erin :)
Ruth made us extremely welcome. Meeting us at the train station to get us acclimatised to the area, which is just a short walk to catch train into the city. Ruth was great, suggesting tourist ideas that suited our particular needs, wanting us to have a wonderful holiday. We toured the Guinness Factory and went to a Hurling Game which were two highlights. We also had fabulous meals at traditional pubs with Irish music and visiting Trinity College and Museums. Ruth managed to make us feel at home and comfortable and certainly looked after but also not smothered. We definitely enjoyed our time in Dublin.
About the Host, Ruth
I was born and raised in Dublin and although I really enjoy travelling and experiencing other cultures, it's always good to come home again. I love spending time with friends and family (including my ten nieces and nephews), walking, cycling, travelling, reading, movies, theatre, cooking, trying new things, and hosting international guests. I look forward to welcoming you to my home :)
