Single room in family house.
Stay with Laura, Dan, Max (10 years) and Bobby the cat, and enjoy our relaxed approach to living in one of London hippest areas. Quiet street, with excellent transport options, and plenty to do in the local area.
Single room in family house in the heart of vibrant Dalston.
Our non-smoking house is relaxed and comfortable; we share the kitchen/ dining room and lounge, and bathroom.
The guest room is in the attic, on the second floor, so there are quite a few stairs to climb. The style is Boho / shabby chic, single bed, small wardrobe, armchair and side table. Fresh towels and linen provided
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen /diner, and lounge. cereals, milk, tea, coffee sugar etc will be provided. Breakfast is usually a leisurely 'serve yourself' arrangement. You're welcome to cook meals, although there are many many excellent and reasonable local restaurants to try, as well as some of east London's best cafes and cake shops within a few minutes walk.
Guests staying longer than a week are expected to make their own arrangements for food ( shopping / cooking etc) although there are likely to be opportunities for shared meals.
wifi available throughout the house.
I'm a single mum (40 something) and I live here with my 10 year old son, and one other male housemate, (30 something), and our cat. There's only one bathroom (first floor), so we do need to be mindful if there are others needing to get ready. ( there is a second wc)
I can cater for a parent with one child, if you can share the room, or be happy with a spare bed on the landing.
There is a courtyard garden where you could park a bike if you've brought one. On-street parking vouchers are available for £5 a day.
Non smoking. If you're a 'family friendly' guest this may be for you!
Please bear in mind that this is a family house and family life can be a bit messy or noisy sometimes. If you are a minimalist dedicated to order in all things, this may not be your first choice. If you are a flexible person who loves life in all its gore and glory then 'come on down'.
Kitchen diner, cooking facilities and microwave, Lounge, bathroom, wc, washing machine, fridge and cupboard space, wifi, garden, on street parking...
Interaction with Guests
I am busy most daytimes, however I am usually around in the evenings, and free for a chat around 5pm onwards
Plenty to do locally with quirky shopping, cafe's, bars and nightlife; lots of great local restaurants, and street markets. We also have the Burberry, Aquascutum and Pringle outlet shops nearby.
I have lived in this area for 15 years, and I love It! I can tell you where to eat out, and help you figure out how to get around. London Fields is only a short walk away, with its heated Lido is open all year, and nearby Broadway Market is a must for hanging out on Saturdays. If you fancy a longer stroll, the Flower Market at Columbia Road is open Sunday mornings.
This is a fantastic location for exploring London
Great Transport links to the City and London's West End; overground train services from Dalston Junction, Dalston Kingsland and Hackney Central, mainline trains from Hackney Downs and London Fields all around ten minutes walk away. There are also plentiful bus routes; the key one is 38 to the west end and Victoria, but also route 277, 30 (goes to Marylebone Station), (phone number hidden) Farringdon) , 76 (to Waterloo) and more.
This is a family house so guests are asked to respect our need for quiet after 9:00pm, and the normal weekday rush to leave for school by 8:30 am.
No pets please as we have a cat
no smoking in the house
no heavy drinking
no loud music
no lovers or dates brought back
clean up after yourself in the bathroom and kitchen

My stay with Lorry was very pleasant! She is very easy going, uncomplicated and helpful. It was also nice meeting Dan and we had good conversations. I felt like I had known them before, very warm-hearted and friendly atmosphere!
I liked the area and it is easy to reach by bus from central London, even at night when you get back from a concert or play. Coming and going was no problem at all, and the bus ride into the center is almost like a sightseeing tour because you get to see neighborhoods which you would most likely not visit otherwise. At night, the bus ride was about 35 minutes, only during the day with all the traffic, it did take quite a while longer.
Choosing to stay with Lorry is a great choice if you are visiting London on a budget and would like to save on accommodation costs and still be central enough to get everywhere fairly quickly! I'm glad I made that choice and will check in with Lorry to see if her room is free when I return to London for a longer stay.
Laura and Dan are lovely people and very nice hosts. During the time I stayed in their place they were very welcoming and considered. They also shared their experiences with me as well as their knowledge of the city, both things that helped me to improve my language skills. The house is very well located in a safe area and with lots of transportation links, which makes it easy to come and go at any time. The room is perfect for one person and has all the facilities needed. The rest of the house was sometimes messy, but there was always a warm family feeling that made made forget about that. In conclusion, I'd love to stay with them again and also would very much recommend the place to people looking for great accommodation in London. Thank you for everything, guys! :)
It was a pleasure to stay with Laura and Dan. They made me feel very welcome and comfortable. The location is great and it's a quiet neighbourhood. Very near London fields park and close to Dalston junction.
I stayed here twice. I think Laura, Dan and Max are lovely, fun and welcoming. Will stay here again and am happy to recommend them. Overall great stay.
Lorry was an excellent host, very warm and considerate.
The house is located in a very lovely neighborhood, very quiet, near the park. And it's also near other places if you want cafe's, book shops, etc.
The house and room were also great!
I'm happy I've meet Lorry! :)
Lorry bis a wonderful host, considerate and thoughtful, creating a relaxing family atmosphere.
The room was very comfortable, warm and quiet.
I will, without hesitation, recommend Lorry to others and will return here myself in future!
I'm a single mum, in between contracts at the moment ( usually I work in Urban Regeneration in east London). I'm interested in Architecture and the Arts:
I'm interested in healthy eating and cooking, and staying positive. I tend to be in most evenings with my son who's 9, although I'm usually busy on Tuesday evenings at a singing group ( come along if you like to sing!). We tend to be up early ( from about 6-30 7-00 am) although you probably won't hear us as your room is on the top floor. I try to get to bed at a reasonable time ( no later than 11-00pm) although I don't mind if you come in later, so long as you're quiet and considerate.
Mornings are usually a bit of a rush so please don't expect a cooked breakfast: there will be cereal and toast... if you want to cook your own though, you'll be more than welcome.
I love meeting new people and introducing them to Hackney, which I genuinely believe is the best place in London by far to live or stay.
considerate family friendly guests will be a part of the household throughout their stay as much as they want to be.
I believe very much in supporting the local economy, especially here in Hackney where there are so many wonderful independent restaurants cafes cinemas shops and market stalls selling everything from fabulous coffee, veggies, independent designer clothes, jewelry, vintage furniture etc. There are also some fabulous outlet shops nearby ( Pringle Aquascutum and Burberry if you want to go more mainstream) but If I catch you with a tesco or sainsbury's carrier bag you might get a lecture! ;-)
My motto is 'Aim for the LIght'
its serving me well right now
