About This Listing
Boutique apartment in the creative Cuba quarter in the heart of the ‘coolest little capital’ in the world. Here quality, character and culture combine to offer unique accommodation. Situated above one of the city’s leading contemporary art galleries in a building that was originally a stable, this recently refurbished apartment is distinctively furnished with top quality art, courtesy of the gallery.
The Art Stable features one bedroom with a super king or two single beds and a sofa bed in the living room. Double glazing and luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets and quality linen should ensure a good night’s sleep. A full kitchen, with light breakfast provisions, is available, but with so many cafes right on the doorstep, you may just want to eat out.
Your visit to Wellington is hosted (if you need a host) by Alison (and the sweet natured chocolate Labrador Coco) who live in the adjacent apartment. A born and bred Wellingtonian, Alison can provide advice on all the best places to see and eat as well as things to do. Just 500 metres from the city’s award winning waterfront, the Art Stable offers a warm retreat and easy walking access to everything the city has to offer – from inner city shopping and entertainment to harbour, beach and bush.
Most of the year, we are happy to have one night stays but cannot accept these during holiday periods such as Christmas and Easter and during special events in Wellington. Instead of having a minimum 2 night stay, we charge a little extra for one night so a one night stay is NZ$260. These rates are for 2 people. Additional people $40 each.
Our prices include 15% goods and services tax so the basic accommodation price is 85% of the listed price.
This apartment is strictly non-smoking. Enjoy the magazines and if you haven't finished reading when you are ready to leave, just tell us and you can take it with you. We cant apply the same policy to books though - we want them to stay for everyone to enjoy.
From Mar 1 - May 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 1 night.
A friend and I recently stayed at Alison's art stable apartment above her art gallery in Wellington. The apartment was great; warm, clean, very comfortable and in a fabulous and central location. We had a large twin room with comfortable beds and bathroom. It was ideal having our own lounge room and kitchen for the occasional breakfast in. We could easily walk anywhere from here. Alison was a friendly host with excellent knowledge of the area, what's on and where to eat. I will definitely be back .
We had a lovely stay in Wellington at Alison's studio. It was a very stylish and comfortable place. It is perfectly located beside Cuba Street's cafés, restaurants and bars, and is just a few minutes walk from the waterfront.
Fabulous location, gorgeous apartment and friendly host. Loved staying here.
The apartment is in a great location. Right smack in the heart of the city with great shops, restaurants and bars. Very lively.
Alison was a very pleasant and welcoming host, and was very helpful in getting us familiar with the neighborhood. The Art Stable is clean, spacious and well-equipped. It is also ideally located just off Cuba Street, within walking distance of just about everything, including the waterfront, the Te Papa museum and the cable car to the botanic gardens, and also shops and restaurants.
We had a very nice two days in Wellington, and highly recommend the Art Stable.
This place is very special. A gem. I will call it home every time I visit Wellington. Comfy, clean, and well stocked--I needed nothing else but to enjoy my stay and be inspired by the beautiful art, kind host, and her angel of a pup, darling Coco. The bed--so dreamy. The location--central and walking distance to restaurants, cafes, shops, the harbour, museums, parks and more. Alison was incredibly kind and helpful. :^} Wish I could have stayed forever!
A delightful, bright and airy apartment just off of Cuba St (one of the most interesting districts in Wellington). Alison was on hand the moment we arrived (she conveniently works in the art gallery beneath the apartment) to welcome us and make us feel at home. An excellent place to stay.
