Guests are invited to pick organic apples, blackberries, Asian pears and citrus seasonally available on the property. In the evenings, toast marshmallows on your own outdoor fire. On a clear evening, the stargazing is incredible!
Just a 5-minute drive west of downtown Sebastopol the suite provides comfort and privacy with country views undisturbed by traffic, city noise and lights. The location is just outside of the Sebastopol city limit and a few minutes drive from Occidental and Bodega Bay.
Solitude means that everything is a short drive away. IMPORTANT: NO SMOKING INSIDE. No housekeeping is available. Laundry facilities may be arranged for stays of a week or longer.
Once every two or three years, two full moons will occur in a month. This phenomenon is known as a blue moon. Used colloquially it means - a rare event, as in the phrase "once in a blue moon". We’ve created the Blue Moon Suite to be a place of rare beauty and peace surrounded by the incredible nature of Western Sonoma County.
We look forward to meeting you. Bob, Teresa (& Moka)
We try to greet all guests personally on arrival, show them the basics of the property and introduce Moka the canine greeter.
We will provide our cell numbers in case we are needed.
Bob lives on the property and can be available if needed, if he is home, or by appointment after 10am.
Teresa lives a couple of miles away. and may be able to come over if needed.
This is a gated private country estate. There is a 5 acre minimum in the area, so neighbors are basically not visible due to forrest and foliage, but the hillside location provides scenic views and beautiful night skies that are unobstructed by city lights.
Clean, quiet, and relaxing. This was the perfect launching point for our exploration of Santa Rosa and the Sonoma Valley. The room is spacious with all the amenities and then some. Sitting under the stars with a nice fire (thanks to the included chiminea) was a great way to end a busy day.
Communication with Bob and Teresa was great. They provided all the info we needed well before our arrival. They have a ton of travel guides and books in the room as well (bonus). We never ran in to Teresa, but we did talk to Bob and he was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
Everything about our stay was exactly as expected and then some.
We were passing through just for one day and wanted a space that was affordable and clean to stay for the night. Overall, satisfied and happy to have made this our quick pit stop as we headed further down to the Bay Area cities.
SPACE: A simple and straightforward place to stay. The amenities all worked. The little kitchen space allowed us to make our own breakfast and lunch for the road. Bathroom has a nice skylight that really opens up the space and allowed us to clean up before heading out to our next destination. Plush towels are provided, which is always appreciated. The fresh cut flowers in kitchen and bathroom were also a nice touch.
The bonus: there's very little light pollution in Sebastopol and the stars are amazingly bright where this studio is located. Shame we didn't have time to kick back with the chiminea and star gaze...
Minor irritation: The studio is attached to a two-car garage. Unfortunately, the garage door opened in the middle of the night and that rattled loudly enough to wake us from our sleep momentarily. If you're light sleeper, that might be something to consider.
HOSTS:Teresa was responsive and helpful by phone and text messages. Bob welcomed us in person and was friendly and informative. Indeed, he has local knowledge and was able to recommend a few music gigs in the area as well as a cheap place to fuel up on gas.
We had a pleasant stay at the studio cottage - comfortable, clean, ready for our 2 night stay. Slept well - great mattress; enjoyed grilling outside; hot shower; all was fine! Hosts are friendly and accommodating. Easy access to town, wineries, and Sonoma Raceway. Enjoyed a long, quiet walk on the rural street that accessed the property. Nice place!
Great hosts, very cute apartment. Bob even gave us a bottle of wine!
La ubicacion del estudio es muy tranquila y privada. Bob fue muy amable con nosotros y todo estaba tal como las fotos muestran. Una buena opcion para explorar west sonoma.
It was a pleasure staying at Bob & Teresa's lovely country studio. It was so close to everything, yet secluded enough to relax at the end of the day!
Bob and Teresa were excellent, responsive hosts. Their suggestion of Peter Lowell's in Sebastopol was a good one, and we had a great dining experience despite the mixed yelp reviews. Excellent location that is close to Sonoma state park, Guernville and Healdsburg. They even had flavored creamers for my friend's morning coffee!
Bob & Teresa were very detailed and forthcoming with coordinating our visit to the Blue Moon Suite nestled on a backroad in Sonoma County. The location was so peaceful, the room was comfortable and cleverly designed, with all the amenities we could possibly need. The dog Moka was a sweetheart and a half! It was a great home base for exploring wine country, redwood forests, fine dining, and the Russian River.
This was a lovely stay for us. My husband and I are moving to the area, and needed a home base for the week we were house hunting. We found this place to be an excellent respite from that stress. Located fairly close to Sebastopol, it still had the 'off the beaten path' feel. At night the stars shone brightly, in the morning the birds chirped happily, and we felt pleased to be a part of that.
Their dog, Moka, was quite charming too. We brought our little Chihuahua with us, and they made fast friends. It was actually quite cute to watch our little guy, accustomed to a small yard, exploring the wide open spaces.
There were a few hiccups. When we arrived they were working on the water, and the internet was down. But our hosts were incredibley responsive, and as we were planning to be out that day - we barely noticed it. One thing to note, is that cell service may not be strong when you're on the property, we both had very hit and miss service - and we're on Verizon. That said, it was hardly the fault of the hosts, and it didn't impair our ability to enjoy the trip. We'll be recommending this place to our family and friends, and may even stay here ourselves again - when we want to 'getaway'.
PS - We found a place!
Nice quiet place with everything we needed. The location was great and close to many restaurants and wineries. Comfortable bed too.
