About this listing
This spacious and sunny 1 bedroom apt is located on the 5th floor (elevator included) of an old-style apartment building, conveniently located around the corner from the train and beautiful Prospect Park. All just 5 minutes away.
Are you looking for a comfortable, convenient yet affordable way to enjoy NYC? Then you won't want to pass this up. The apartment is located just a short 5 minute walk from beautiful Prospect Park AND the subway trains. It's only a quick 20 minute train ride into lower Manhattan. Nearby you can find ethnic foods including Indian, Jamaican, and Japanese, as well as the historic Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and Brooklyn Museum.
This spacious one-bedroom apartment has a foyer, spacious living room, eat-in kitchen, bathroom, and huge bedroom. It's on the 5th floor of an elevator building with handicapped access.
There is a foyer when you first enter and shiny new hardwood floors all around. From the foyer you can peek into the sunny living room, large kitchen, hallway to the bathroom, and bedroom. The kitchen is equipped with a full size refrigerator, a gas stove, microwave, blender, rice cooker, electric tea kettle, and toaster oven. There's plenty of counter-top space to bake or cook. Take a luxurious hot bath in the light-green theme bathroom. Did I mention, even in the winter, it's always cozy and warm in the apartment?
The spacious bedroom is peaceful with light during the day and thick curtains for when you want to sleep in. There is a wonderfully delightful memory foam queen sized mattress with a pillow-top. And a chaise lounge.
Wi-Fi connection is available throughout the apartment. Clean bed linens and towels are provided for your comfort.
Feel free to cook in the rare, generous-sized kitchen. Oh and take baths in the green-themed tub. And of course there is wifi throughout the apartment.
Interaction with Guests
I love to travel and meeting people from all over the world is a vicarious way to do it! I'm very happy to be social and friendly, answer any questions about this city that never sleeps!
Easy access to the train and lovely Prospect Park and pond. Now with a brand new skating rink! For those non-skaters like me, the park has lovely new paths around the gorgeous pond. Parkside train station is just a hop, step away (on the Q line) and Prospect Park station is just several minutes walk away (on the B and Q).
The Brooklyn Museum is just a couple stations away. It is the 2nd largest library in the city, and also houses the famous Elizabeth E. Sackler feminist museum. Just one station away is the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and Brooklyn Zoo.
For those staying longer, the dry cleaners/drop-off laundromat is just around the corner. So is one of my favorite breakfast spots just one minute away.
The subway (Q at Parkside station) is just a short 4 min walk away. Great when it's cold out! There's also an easy bus, B41 around Brooklyn. The dollar ($2) van is also convenient. Also car services that I can suggest as well.
Other Things to Note
Please note if you are staying longer than one week, and would like to have your bed sheets and towels changed, there will be an additional 'weekly cleaning fee' of $40. Thanks.
My only real "house rules" is NO smoking, illegal drug use, or pets. NO PARTIES for obvious reasons. Oh, and no shoes in the house to help keep NYC dirt outdoors. And finally no overnight guests unless confirmed prior to booking.
[PLEASE NOTE: Check-in is at 3pm and check-out is 11am.]
I look forward to welcoming you into my home ;-)
I just love this place. It is really convenient location, everything is really close and is very connected with a lot of places. The description is just as shown in the website and maybe more. The deco is something that you can appreciate as New Yorker style but the most important thing is the sense of being a local.
We never met Shiuan, but she was staying in touch with us through the email all the time since the arrival. The information she provided was a huge help to us. The apartment is clean and comfortable and matches description perfectly. Sometimes at night you can hear young people talking pretty loud around 1-3am, but you can always close the window to minimize the noise. It's very bring and positive place to stay located very convenient about 3 minutes away from a subway station. We definitely would stay there again!
We spent 2 beautiful weeks in this apartment and enjoyed it very much! It is really awesome! The apartment is very cozy, bright and well equipped (kitchen and bedroom are especially sweet) - just feel yourself like at home 3
The subway is also very close so it is easy to get around this incredible city!
Shiuan is great host! She is very friendly, helpful and always gives you all the essential tips and answers!
Strongly recommend ;)
If you are looking for a place in this area of Brooklyn it’s a great choice – big, clean, easy access to convenience stores and transportation. The building itself is a bit on the older side (like a lot of them in Brooklyn). My brother stayed there for 2 weeks and Shiuan made it very easy to communicate during the whole time (first booked for a week and then extended twice). Also check in / check out arrangements were great.
The reservation was canceled 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This apartment is gorgeous! Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 5 nights and we loved it. Its really comfortable and warm, bright and cosy, very clean and very spacious (much bigger than we were expecting). Its really nicely furnished and the kitchen is very well equipped. As it's an old building the pipes make loud noises early in the morning, which might wake you up, but the bedroom is so comfortable that it didn't bother us. It has good transport links and is easy to get into Manhattan (though it is a little far out). We didn't spend much time in the local area but we did have a lovely snowy walk through the nearby Prospect Park and there are lots of shops nearby. There's also a lovely cafe nearby called Tip of the Tongue that shiuan recommended, which is good for breakfast before hopping on the nearby subway. Shiuan was very helpful, caring and very quick to respond if we had any queries. We were very sad to leave this apartment and would definitely stay here again!
Shiuan was a great host. We stayed in her apartment for about a week. Her apartment is very close to Parkside Station so getting around New York was very easy. There are also many great places nearby like Prospect Park. Shiuan was very helpful with any questions we had. We would stay in any place for Shiuan alone. The only issue with the apartment was trying to get the right temperature for the shower and the noises from the pipes but we were fairly warned beforehand so we knew what we were getting into. Overall, we'd love to stay there again if we made our way back to Brooklyn.
