If you're planning a trip to New York sometime soon, you should consider staying at our place in the super charming Hudson Heights subsection of Washington Heights in Northern Manhattan.
The apartment is a moderately sized one-bedroom in a handsome pre-war building. It comes complete with a queen size bed, full bathroom, a spacious living room, and an eat-in kitchen. It's a cozy place, fully appointed with comfortable furniture (including a piano and tons of books!) and warm hardwood/parquet floors. The building has washers and driers in the basement. Our sweet and very affectionate cat Noa lives here with us, but he won't be here during your stay.
Hudson Heights is a lovely neighborhood perched on a bluff overlooking surrounding Washington Heights: it's contains the spot that is the highest natural elevation on the entire island. The neighborhood is bordered on the South at West 181st Street and the East at Fort Washington Avenue by large cliff faces with impressive, Montmartre-style, outdoor stairways. The Hudson River forms HH's West border, and Fort Tryon Park (with the Cloisters Museum of Medieval Art) forms its Northernmost border. The whole neighbordhood has a lovely, suburban feel, with lots of trees, parks, and beautiful views of the George Washington Bridge, the Henry Hudson river, and New Jersey Palisades. The neighborhood has all the conveniences of living in New York, but it doesn't feel like you're in a big city here. Our apartment is located at the end of a cul-de-sac: since there's no through traffic outside, it's very quiet inside. You could almost forget you're in Manhattan! Probably for this reason, a lot of young couples with babies and students and older people live around here. It's hard not to be charmed by this place.
The immediate surrounding area has some wonderful restaurants and grocery stores (Italian, Irish Pub, sushi, Chinese, Mexican, Russian, American/Southwestern, pizza, Thai, Indian, bars, bakeries, diners, access to numerous Latin-American cuisines in nearby Washington Heights, organic and specialty-foods groceries, wine stores, locally owned coffee shops, Starbucks, etc.). There are also a number of nearby churches and synagogues, a Pilates studio, bike trails along the river, and an awesome, independently owned day spa.
The apartment is one block away from the A train, which runs express back and forth from Midtown in about 25 minutes. A few blocks further away, the 1 train runs locally and gets you to Midtown in about 50 minutes. The M98 bus stop (one block away) has almost immediate access to the Harlem-125th Street MetroNorth train station for day-trips to Conncticut, and a blocks beyond that is the nearby George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal for day-trips throughout New Jersey.
As you can see from the pictures of our apartment, we also have a super adorable cat named Noa. Noa will be staying home during our upcoming travels, so we're offering a discounted rate for our apartment in exchange for some basic catsitting services. (Noa loves making new friends!) Food and water will be set out and available for him, so all he'll need is a little bit of love.

"We had a great time in this apartment. Our hosts were very welcoming while waiting for us despite the delay of our airplane, sympathetic to our state of fatigue, and they even took care of our first breakfast. Even though the apartment is situated in the northern part of Manhattan, the A subway line is a 2-minute walk away, and it allowed us to get almost anywhere quickly, even to JFK. The apartment has all the necessary comforts, including WIFI, and the building has a laundry room in the basement that is very convenient. If we return we will happily inquire to stay with Joseph again."
Joseph and Ryan was great hosts. They was friendly, respectful, helpful and amazing, even I arriving late night, they waited for me to give me the keys. The apartment was super clean, neat, organized and it has everything as described on the apartment listening. The hosts was always helpful, helping with the heater and parking questions... All our interactions, even by email, phone or text messages, was super professional and with a quickly response.
About the apartment, an amazing 1BR apartment, super close to the subway (less then 1 block). The neighborhood was good, with a lot of stores and supermarket close, and even a starbucks at the corner.
The bedroom has a perfect size, very clean and with a lot of lights. The internet wifi was great, helping to connect with my family at Xmas evening. The bathroom was very clean, they even left for me extra towels.
The whole experience was amazing, I loved NYC, J and R was great hosts, I couldn't had choose a better place to stay, I really recommend their apartment, and I'll stay there again in the future...
