The Space

This house built by a Commander in Nelsons fleet is a large villa-style residence, with an 'upstairs-downstairs' ambiance.
Upstairs, the house is quite traditional in layout with a stunning entrance hall and bright, spacious rooms with large windows. The drawing room and dining room are on opposite sides of the hall and both have a wonderful formality and elegance. The vaulted ceilings have beautiful plasterwork and marble fireplaces, exquisite hand cut chandeliers, beautiful Irish carpets and superior quality antique furniture which all add to the grandeur of Nile Lodge. Three premier bedrooms, all with superking beds and en suite shower or bathrooms are located on this floor. One of these can be refigured as a twin if requested.

This historic house is ideally located for Galway City Centre, with its many excellent restaurants, pubs with traditional music and sociable cafes. The University of Galway and University College Hospital are both within easy walking distance.
There is plenty of off road parking on the spacious landscaped grounds of Nile Lodge and this and Wi Fi are complimentary for our guests.

Nile Lodge is an ideal venue for private family celebrations, reunions and memorable holidays. It is a perfect base for all that the West of Ireland has to offer, especially its many superb golf courses, game and coarse fishing, or sailing and scuba diving off the coast.

The beautiful mountains and lakes of Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren are just a short drive away. There are frequent daily boat trips to the nearby spectacular Aran Islands.

I am a native of Galway and enjoy everything about this wonderful city. I have lots of interests and particularly enjoy good company, music, chatting and chilling out. I also love poetry and old books. Given that Nile Lodge House has such a rich historical past, going back over 200 years, has been very interesting to be involved in the research of this, which is still ongoing. I love tramping through fields, looking at old monuments and ruins and I really enjoy a brisk walk along the seaside promenade just down the road, enjoying the views over Galway Bay. I spent many happy years living and working in Manchester City and regularly travel back there. I have also travelled a little in Italy, France and Spain and thoroughly enjoyed the rich culture of these countries.
