Firstly, what an amazing house - the description and photos don't come close to doing it justice. Everything is so considerately prepared and the decor and set up are beautiful. The rooms are all spacious with plenty of wardrobe space and really lovely furnishings. We stayed in mid-April and didn't need to heat the pool, though the weather was apparently hotter than usual. Plenty of seating, eating and sunbathing space. Plenty of crockery, glassware, serving bowls etc. including plastics for outside use. Overall we found everything we needed to make the difference between a good holiday and an amazing holiday. Karen was in touch with me before the trip and was really quick to respond to any questions.
Would 100% recommend the property and the host.
I had a great experience staying at Karen's lovely home! The house is stocked with kitchen essentials, fun pool toys, and plenty of towels. She even has a binder packed full of local adventures you can go on. It was really informational and helped answer house functions and rules. Her and the house manager were easy to contact and very understanding being able to accommodate my group arriving a little early and leaving earlier. I would definitely recommend staying with her when you make the trip out to Palm Springs!
By definition, this house is an "oasis" - a fertile spot in the desert which provides refuge, relief, and pleasant contrast to both the stark landscape surrounding it, and the inaccessible facades of residential Palm Springs. Expertly decorated and well maintained, it's packed with designer eye candy in a groovy symphony of aqua and coral. Everywhere you look you are met with a pleasing tableau of unique art and artifacts which keep it from feeling like a generic or unconsidered vacation rental. The boys called the garden cabana the moment they saw it and loved the independence and pool access it afforded (plus the vertically ribbed glass panel in the bathroom door which, if you put your face close, made you look as if you had 19 eyes to the viewer on the other side). The kitchen is a stainless wonderland of drawers, fully loaded for cooking and entertaining, and while one can easily imagine this house as stage for a partying crowd - reading, lounging and swimming in the spacious backyard was more our speed. We opted for not heating the pool and found it refreshingly cool when chased by a quick, hot outdoor shower or warming soak in the master bedroom's deep jacuzzi. Hard to leave, looking forward to coming back - thank you Karen.
House was lovely as depicted in photos, Spacious and light with great interior. We loved our brief stay and would highly recommend Karen's house to anyone after a Palm Springs holiday!
The property is exactly as advertised - very comfortable and conveniently located. We enjoyed our stay very much. After our stay was complete, the host requested payment for damage to a Brita pitcher which we don't believe we damaged. We were also asked to pay a cleaning "upcharge" of $50, which we believed was not warranted. At the time of writing this review, we are working with the host to resolve the disagreement. Other than that, everything was perfect.
The disagreement was resolved quickly, cleaning up charge was only
$25 .This was charge billed by the cleaning service (same service has cleaned the house for years) based on the condition of the house and the hours it took them to clean.
We graciously removed the charges for the broken items that were found at check out when the guest said they did not use them.
We had the most relaxing time in this amazing bungalow! From the salt water pool (which was worth every penny to heat), to the highly utilized kitchen (we were travelling with another couple and our kids), and the fabulous seating/chilling area in the living room (fire place was my favourite). The light in the house is fabulous, especially in the morning. It's so easy to flop and rejuvenate when you're surrounded by style, in addition to all the comforts of home. I'm missing Karen's bungalow already!
Cannot recommend Karen's mid century home highly enough. Way exceeded our expectations - so much so, we really didn't want to leave! The house is ideally located in a quiet residential road, close to downtown Palm Springs. The aspect is stunning with mountain views from the front of the property as well as through cleverly designed roof level windows. The pictures do not really do the place justice, it is much bigger than we were expecting. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, everything is of the highest quality with loads of unexpected, thoughtful touches. The three bedrooms are all en suite and again, standards of linen etc, are exceptional. Even though the weather was cold while we were there, we had the pool heated - it was more like a bath and we used it every day. Karen was really easy to deal with and we were met on arrival by local concierge Tod who was also very welcoming and helpful. Loved everything about it. Thanks Karen!
My husband and I live in the suburbs of San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and we love to travel. I really don't like staying in Hotels, since I travel a lot for my job I am always in Hotels! We have always met the most interesting people while traveling with Air Bnb. We have a laid back travel style and don't need flashy, glamorous digs. I am always on the lookout for new, interesting and unexpected!
We both have stressful jobs that keep us very busy. We also own a home in Palm Springs, CA (listed on AirBnb) where we go to chill as often as we can.
Our twin daughters are both in the Design field. I design Children's Wear and Pet products for a living and my husband is an Engineer in Medical Products.
