Jen was a great host! She welcomed me at the door, made sure I could unlock and lock the door, and asked if I had any questions! She left local area information in the room, and gave me a tour of the entire apartment! She was so nice and accommodating, and even offered any of her food to me! Definitely an ideal host, and I highly recommend staying at her place during your next Brooklyn visit!
Jennifer's place was lovely and everything was absolutely perfect -- it was very quiet, close to the subways, the restaurants and shops. Very safe neighborhood, extremely clean, and Jennifer was very accommodating, offering to help us with any questions we might have. We would definitely stay with her on our next trip to New York.
Jennifer is a very gracious and helpful host. She went out of her way to help me out and kept checking on me to make sure I was ok and even offered me dinner at multiple occasions. Going to NYC I wanted to stay in a place that was not full of tourists, that was affordable and still with ok transportation to Manhattan. Jennifer's apartment fits that description perfectly. You get a big bedroom and a bathroom for half of what you get any tiny room on Manhattan. Don't expect it to be fancy, because it's not. The area mostly felt safe but there were some a bit rougher streets, but this is New York after all! I didn't spend very much time in the direct neighborhood, mostly walked back and forth to the metro and train stations that are a few minutes walk from the apartment. I visited some other areas in Brooklyn that I really liked like Fort Greene, that has a number of cool restaurants, wine bars and is only a few stops with the metro away. A lot of people love Prospect Park as well, but I unfortunately didn't get to visit.
Hiper good value for money. Maybe one can't find another ensuite room like this for this price.
Jeniffer, the owner, and her roommate, Nagella, are both very friendly and accomodative.
The room size is adequate and way larger than average hotel rooms in New York. I felt really comfortable there. Completely street noise proof.
From the flat to, say, 42nd street station in Manhattan by the Q or B trains it will take you approximately 60 minuters on average, considering walking time from the flat to the nearest subway station. You need to walk half a mile from door to either Cortelyou Rd Station or Newkirk Plaza Station.
The neighbourhood is mixed. The building itself is sited in a definitely not fancy street, but the whereabouts are very pleasant to take a stroll. You'll even find some very good restaurants half a mile from the flat in Cortelyou Road. Don't miss the Asia, which serves Indian Food for a bargain, especially in lunch time.
You'll find everything you need to make your breakfast in the kitchen. I myself even prepared diners twice. Jennifer kindly allow guests to use the fridge for storage.
In a nutshell, the owner is very friendly, the room is good, you'll have a private bathroom for a price really low. Obviously you'd better expect some commuting time to get to Manhattan and not expect a swank place.
Again, you'll probably won't find best value for your money in NYC.
