HISTORY: Framed by acres of forest in the most beautiful and beloved area in the Columbia River Gorge, Bridal Veil Lodge offers a unique retreat for travelers seeking a relaxing country atmosphere. The Lodge, built by my great grandfather in 1926 is crafted of rough-cut lumber and knotty pine. Bridal Veil Lodge was built as a hotel, restaurant, and auto camp with cabins for travelers to stay in. In the heyday of early motor touring, it was a popular stopping point for a hot meal and a good night's sleep.
WHAT TO DO AND SEE: The Lodge is located within a few miles of many cascading waterfalls and magnificent scenic vistas. Bridal Veil Falls State Park is directly across the street. A short 10 minute hike takes you to the double-tiered Bridal Veil Falls. The park also features a walk through a wildflower meadow and along the tops of towering bluffs affording a spectacular view of the river and gorge. Also nearby is the Vista House at Crown Point (approx. 5 miles). The waterfalls on the drive surrounding our lodge include Latourell, Shepperd's Dell, Wahkeena, Multnomah (the 2nd highest year-round waterfall in the US), Oneonta gorge and falls, Horsetail, and numerous others . There are many hiking trails in the area. Two swimming areas and boating facilities are within a few miles. Hood River boasts one of the best windsurfing areas in the nation (36 miles from the lodge). You may enjoy a cruise on a sternwheeler on the Columbia River. Excursions leave from the town of Cascade Locks. Visit nearby Bonneville Dam, or explore museums and interpretive centers. Ten minutes will take you to the Columbia Gorge factory outlet stores and antique shops and art galleries in nearby Troutdale.
RESTAURANTS: Although Bridal Veil Lodge is in a rural scenic area, we are fortunate to have an excellent restaurant nearby at historic Multnomah Falls Lodge (3 1/2 mi.). The main dining room is graced by a massive fireplace and large hand tinted photographs of nearby waterfalls. The "falls room" is a glass-enclosed dining area and an outdoor dining ares is available as well. A bit farther from the lodge (11 mi.) is the popular Tad's Chicken 'n' Dumplins on the Sandy River by Troutdale. Other restaurants are found in Troutdale as well.

This Lodge is Located well away from town and close to the falls area. The old scenic road is awesome and then its right there! it looks like you are going back in time to the old west. Its a family home that is well kept up considering its 100+ years old. Our room was very Nice and the bed was easy to fall asleep and feel like I never even moved. If you are looking for an experience that fits an adventure seeing all the falls and hiking and feeling like you are with Lewis and Clark ,you must stay here!, oh and although is was very nice and Quiet,You May see Frank the Turkey out front,SO funny and Smart..
I had a very pleasant stay at Bridal Veil Lodge. The upper cottage room was spacious, clean and had a window seat which I enjoyed, and beautiful views of the woods behind the lodge. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The owner provided me with plenty of stories about the lodge and materials regarding the history of the area. This is a friendly and neat place to stay and I would certainly visit again.
We LOVED our stay here. The room was adorable, absolutely quiet, and amid an incredible forest close to many sites in the Columbia River Gorge. Janet is a phenomenal host and cook. Our breakfasts of "Dutch babies" and vegie frittatas were superb. We felt like old friends before we left and would recommend this B&B to anyone who likes to get off the beaten path into an authentic, historical countryside. The simplicity of the room was initially surprising, but after a few minutes we settled in and so appreciated the naturalness of the surroundings.
