Old world elegance meets new world charm in this classic manor house in the picturesque Hudson River Valley. Step into history at Windrift Hall, a tastefully restored 1790s Federal Style Manor house with a private pond.
The 3000sf historic house on 5 acres landscaped grounds are a beautiful secluded setting to host your wedding party without upsetting any neighbors. Our minimum stay is 4 days from Wednesday to Sundays.
There are many places on the property to hold your wedding ceremony but a favorite spot for many is under the 200 year old maple tree in front of the house. For weddings with more than 20 guests we ask you to rent a tent and portable bathrooms.
Nature is all around you. The house is situated on a hill overlooking beautifully landscaped meadows with fields, mature trees and plantings, stone walls, gardens, a pond and the gently flowing creek which is surrounding the property. It's a secluded and bucolic setting at the end of a winding private country road. Yet you'll find amenities all around the corner.
The house itself is a perfect backdrop to host your reception dinner and makes for an intimate setting to accommodate close family and friends. It features 4 bedrooms sleeping 12, 2 baths, library, study, gracious center hall and a beautiful country kitchen. Every room is filled with a mixture of European and American antiques of the Hudson Valley and has a working fire place.
We would be happy to recommend vendors and professionals who will help you with all the logistics. We'll also help you find the right lodging for your guests, from inexpensive motels and hotels within 10 min drive to the hip hotels of nearby Hudson.
We are not a wedding factory. The people who come to us are looking for a unique, unforgettable experience in a beautiful setting without the rush of other venues. If that sounds like something you're interested in, we would love to talk to you about more details. If you’d like to see the place before and have a chance to visit us we would be happy to show you around.
Nice alternative to a Manhattan hotel of the same price with conveniences of home. This part of Brooklyn wasn't worth exploring, but the park and museum were a nice plus and the metro stop right outside the door. Host provides good restaurant recommendations in the area.
Stayed from March 20th-23rd and had a wonderful experience. Sue was very friendly and was very accommodating. She was flexible with our arrival and departure time which is also a nice featuring of booking with her.
The location of the apartment was great. Literally 2 minutes to get to the subway system, and 5 minutes to Franklin which has a great assortment of restaurants, coffee shops and stores. Also felt that the location was really safe evening at night.
And lastly the apartment was very nice. It slept four guys comfortably and had all the accommodations that make you feel like you're staying at home.
Thank you Sue and I would totally rent here again if you'd have us.
This was our second time staying in this gem of an apartment and both visits were without a hitch. Sue is flexible and easy to contact and the apartment is as described, spacious, comfortable, tastefully decorated, and a pleasant two minute walk to the subway. We look forward to staying here again during our next visit to NYC.
This house is as charming as it gets. we wanted to go ski hunter mountain but all the houses near the mountain were not houses we wanted to spend time, those typical mountain cabins with no interior design and no character. we decided a 40 minute drive to the mountian was okay if we got to stay in a house we liked.
the kitchen is always the most important rooms in the house and this one takes the cake. especially in the winter in a family and friends group we spend the entire day cooking and eating, so it was perfect for us. pretty well stocked with all the kitchen tools we were able to cook with ease.
the house has many rooms and doors so its fun to explore around. it is set on a beautiful lake, which was frozen and served us some fun.
make sure to read the house rules because there are some things that are your responsibility here, that are not always that way when you rent other places like making and stripping the beds.
would gladly go back in spring/summer to let my kids run around again.
look for a featured on our site (website hidden) soon.
We stayed at Sue's place for 2.5 weeks over Christmas and NY. It was everything we had hoped for / could ask for. Fantastic location - close to reliable train lines, surrounded by great restaurants, bars, cafes and iconic locations. Beautiful home - the perfect blend of aesthetically pleasing and homely (we were so glad to have it during a snow storm and the polar vortex). Plus Sue and JL were readily available on the phone if we needed anything or had any queries. Thanks again guys. It would be our pleasure to host you should you ever head to Melbourne.
Sue's apartment was very large, clean and well decorated. It was perfect for our stay. The location was also very good and close to many subway lines. She was very easy to work with. We would recommend!
Great apartment in a wonderful location! The additional $80 cleaning fee was a bit steep, but the apartment was spotless.
Warm, welcoming and extremely flexible and caring hosts. The apartment was immaculate, tastefully decorated and family friendly. Our family felt right at home. Easy access to the subway, restaurants, grocery store, weekend Farmers Market and museum. Loved having Prospect Park closely located for exercising while visiting Brooklyn and NYC. I would highly recommend the apartment and plan on returning soon.
This apartment is a gem, clean and comfortable in a well-maintained older building. spacious as described, artfully decorated, and just a pleasant two minute walk to the subway station. Restaurants and a grocery store are around the corner. Sue is accessible and helpful, an ideal host. We loved staying here.
My husband and I stayed in Sue's apartment with another couple for a weekend away in Brooklyn. It was spacious and accommodated us well. It was easy checking in and out and I really appreciated that Sunday didn't have an early departure time like a hotel. It's great to have space enough to hang out for a bit in between site seeing. The neighbourhood is not currently one of the 'in' places, but frankly, we loved it because of that. It was an incredibly vibrant mix that was fascinating. There was enough close by for us to enjoy and make use of. A couple of things of note - there is no bedroom door on the room with twin beds and we were unable to hail cabs from anywhere nearby. The subway is right there and we made good use of it, as well, we got the number of a cab company and used that when needed. It was very easy. A great weekend. I am glad that we stayed at Sue's.
