We stayed here 3x times due to lay-overs in Hanoi-each time different rooms. Some have private bathrooms, some don't. THis is a nice little hotel with a good, central (email hidden)e owner speaks good english and is very helpful.
Overall it was a great experience, location is nice, we stayed a second night after we went to Ha long bay, was overall really good, air con rooms, etc nice spot.
Great overall, nice area, cool backstreet location, lots of stuff to do and see nearby, very close to local Hanoi landmarks and food.
Air bnb feedback
Hanoi Home is located very close to the cathedral (which rings its bell every 15 minutes throughout the night, so take earplugs or ask for a quiet room).
Despite it appearing to have only very recently been vacated, my room was clean enough (apart from one pillow case). And the room was large with a TV and a wet room with toilet, sink and shower.
Hanoi was quite humid when I visited (March) and the wet room stayed quite wet which meant the air was damp and the bed clothes were slightly clammy, so I used my sleeping bag liner.
Ahn Son was great with communication and arranged a taxi to collect me from the airport; and the staff who greeted me were friendly and helpful, however I left after the first of my two booked nights. (Hotel staff offered to move me to another room but I had already booked elsewhere.)
This is true budget accommodation so if you're really counting the pennies it's an option.
accueil chaleureux , les personnes etaient disponibles. la chambre etait bien et confortable et situe comme dit sur l'annonce au centre a cote de la cathedrale ce qui aide a se reperer . merci .
This place is definitely not as advertised. I would beware if you are thinking about staying here. While the receptionist is very nice, the hotel room is far from that. First of all, the bathroom is very small there isnt really even space to take a shower. It wasn't very clean when I arrived, the air con/heat doesnt work, the walls are so thin you can hear all the sounds from people outside and the church bells every 30 min. The sheets had stains, I received 2 hand towels not body towels and the lights/ electricity just shut off one night. The place itself looks pretty beat up with missing lights and broken closet. Oh and there is also only hot water for 2 minutes so hope you are prepared to take a cold shower in the winter. At night the receptionist locks the gate where you will be staying so you will have to wake him up yo let you into the hotel.. Not really ideal. This is worse than staying in a hostel. You can find much cheaper places that are pretty decent so I would skip this place if I were you.
The staff was very accomodating, we arrived early morning but one of the staff stayed to wait for us, considering Hanoi has a curfew, this was a very good plus, they arranged for our hotel/airport service. The location was perfect, just right beside St Joseph's Cathedral and very accessible. Our room was very big, exceeded our expectations. They also helped us booked our halong bay tour and gave us a few helpful tips. I would definitely come back to this hostel.
