Wake up to mountain views. My comfy home is in a quaint hamlet with great amenities. Pop to the cafe downstairs to mingle with friendly locals over a cappuccino & a pastry. Buy local cheese from the grocery. Enjoy an aperitivo at the bar before dining at a local restaurant. All this is on the doorstep. Bellagio centre is 2km away - savour the views on the way! It is meditation in motion. Comprehensive digital area guide. Free parking in village car park.

The space
My guests appreciate that Casa Bellagina is not the usual stark, bare, boring apartment that has been set up purely as a rental space. This was my home and I still love returning when I can. It is bright, homely, comfy, well-loved and well-equipped. My space is suitable for a small family, a group of friends or a couple.

Casa Bellagina is in an ideal location for exploring both the lake and surrounding mountains. Guests love experiencing life in a real village with essential amenities close to hand. The locals are friendly! Free public off-street parking is available a few steps away.
The flat stays cool in summer and the balcony lets in the breeze. High ceilings and thick walls mean there is no need for air conditioning but portable fans are available.

Smart TV with foreign news channels and Netflix. There's a varied library of DVDs and books and a printer should you need it. In short, there are plenty of home comforts to make you feel at home. I am delighted that all my guests have commented on how homely the apartment is!

You'll find it is spacious, welcoming, spotlessly clean & well-equipped. Small balcony with views of mountains & local life on the piazza. The second bedroom can be made up either with twin beds or as a double.

There's great lighting, plentiful mirrors and abundant wardrobe space. It is cool in summer and cosy in winter with a wood-burning stove in the living/dining room, in addition to the central heating.

Take a seat on the balcony (table for 2) and sip an ‘aperitivo’ before dinner watching the sunset on the Grigne mountains. There are 3 restaurants/ pizzerias within easy walking distance. Self-catering is no problem as the kitchen is perfectly equipped and there is a well-stocked grocery a few steps away. Enjoy breakfast Italian style with tempting pastries and brioches at the café below my apartment or espresso from your own coffee machine.

A car gives you access to restaurants in the mountains behind Bellagio where the cuisine is very authentic and the prices lower. There are many walking trails in the hills and countryside away from the lake. Milan can be reached by train from Varenna or Lecco for a day of culture and shopping.

Magnificent gardens are available in Bellagio (Villa Melzi) and nearby Tremezzo ( Villa Carlotta). Villa Balbianello at Lenno has been used in recent movies (Star Wars and Casino Royale). There is a wide range of guide books and local information provided in the apartment. You will receive a link to my digital guide when you make a booking. ( I am unable to send a link until then due to rules.)

Guest access
The apartment is self-contained and for your use only.

Other things to note
If at first, you are hesitant that the apartment is not in Bellagio itself let me assure you that my guests love the authentic village location. This way you get the best of both worlds: Bellagio with its timeless traditional appeal and the almost rustic charm of Visgnola. You're sure to meet some of the friendly villagers too. You will feel you are living in a real community, not just visiting as a tourist.

There is a bar on the square which is a favourite with locals. It can be a little noisy some weekends but the bedrooms are on the other side of the apartment.
Many guests arrive by public transport but I strongly suggest avoiding one night only if this is your choice. The beauty of Bellagio is that it is a little harder to get to, being right at the centre of the lake. There is no train station, Uber or regular taxi service. Getting there takes time but it is absolutely worth it so do consider at least 2 nights.

Bellagio has many small hamlets and my home is in the residents' favourite - Visgnola. It has great amenities and all my guests fall in love with the coffee & cake shop right below my apartment. You will feel like you are not just a tourist but living amongst locals in an authentic village. Bellagio itself is bustling with all the shops and restaurants you need and the boats to help you explore the lake but you will enjoy returning to relax in a real home in a real place.

It would be hard not to fall in love with Bellagio. It is easy to see why the town is known as the 'pearl of Lake Como'. It has a charm and an atmosphere all of its own: from its cobbled streets with beautiful shops to its gardens and breathtaking vistas. Photographer's paradise, writer's retreat, traveller's oasis, hiker's heaven...or simple dawdle the day away. Bellagio will seduce you whatever your style! Please be aware that my home is in a quaint hamlet above Bellagio, 5 minutes' drive or 20/25 minutes' walk, which is uphill on the way home. There are only a few buses a day; taxis are sometimes available, particularly in the evening. I have a friend who helps me out as an unofficial taxi so anything can be arranged. A car helps but it isn't essential. Although I offer one night stays I strongly recommend you stay for at least two, especially if you are reliant on public transport.

Hello Travellers! I am English, grew up in North Wales and have been living in Italy for 18 years. I lived first in Bellagio, Lake Como then bought my present home, in the countryside close to Rome, 9 years ago. I loved Bellagio and maintain that it is one of the most beautiful spots in the whole of Italy. For work reasons, I needed to be nearer to Rome, hence my move. No regrets as I love this Sabina area too! Both my homes are listed on AIrbnb. Here in the Sabina, I enjoy having the best of both worlds: Rome close at hand when I want it but the peace and quiet of the countryside most of the time. I have olive trees in the garden and having my own olive oil makes me feel like a local! I love the fact that the sky is almost always blue here and the ever-changing views from my terrace. The area is gorgeous and relatively untracked in terms of tourism. I have always worked in the travel industry and enjoy exploring Italy. This country is so varied and so beautiful that it never ceases to amaze me. There is always something new to discover and my own travel wish list just gets longer not shorter! I advise you to explore hidden corners of Italy when possible, not just the big cities. Happy Travels!

During your stay
I no longer live in Bellagio but have a great team who live in the village and take care of my home for me. Self-check-in means you do not need to constantly keep in touch with me if you are running early or late. This means you have more freedom - you are on holiday, after all. Someone will always be available to help if needed.

Full directions are provided for driving. I help you work out how to best arrive by public transport and can arrange taxi service from the local ferry if needed. Once your booking is in place there is no need to worry about the details or logistics. I will happily help you work out the details.
