  • Very nice and comfortable house. The shower outside the house made this spot even more magical. Very quiet and no chicken noise in the morning. We were laying down on hammock and could use vegetables and fruits in the garden. The owners of the house are very kind and generous. If we go to Kauai next time definitely will stop there. Like this place sooooo much:))))

  • We had a wonderful time staying at the Blue Moon. A very nice room with a very comfortable bed & shared bathroom & kitchen. We were in town for a nephews wedding that was close by. Kaua'i is such a lovely place & the Blue Moon is very comfortable… you can even see the ocean view from one end of the wrap around porch. It's location is on a very lovely property. The host is very hospitable & I loved the outdoor shower. If your looking for economy this is the place for you! Thanks Janet!

  • I enjoyed my stay in Blue Moon Guest Room. The location is very fine, the room very comfortable with good space for my travel kit. I felt at home and part of the garden as the surrounding plants and showers are close by. I appreciate the bookshelf of books and other welcoming touches. A fine room in a great location!

  • Janet's home is beautiful and has wonderful energy and a lovely lanai. We enjoyed our stay there very much. The Blue Moon Guest Room is very comfortable - beautifully decorated and with plenty of space to unpack clothes. The bathroom is shared with only one other person, Janet. And the outdoor shower is right outside.
The location in Moloaa is great. It's between the town of Kapaa and the north shore. Close to a wonderful fruit stand and gorgeous, uncrowded beaches.

  • The property is beautiful, and the room is clean and nicely decorated. Our host, Eana, is such a sweet person and we felt welcome and cared for in her home. We will definitely be back after such a marvelous experience!!

  • Janet's wonderfully unique and colorful home is both a genuine fantasy island sanctuary and ideal base camp for adventurers. Visiting for our 26th anniversary, my wife and I enjoyed an absolutely enchanted stay in the Blue Moon Guest Room. We both enjoyed the adventurous and earthy outdoor shower in a friendly, respectful, and harmonious environment. While we were happy and fortunate to meet Janet prior to her own travel commitments, we were further privileged to meet Amber, Carley, and Ty; each of whom were welcoming, warm, and helpful, making us feel like part of the `ohana (family) from day one.

Most of our destinations were conveniently located within 30 to 45 minutes by car, with the entire island reachable in under 2 hours; even given the occasionally heavy traffic of Kaua`i's 2-lane highways. To the south and western end of the highway, we were rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the gigantic, pristine, seven mile long white sand shoreline of Polihale, after venturing a 4.8 mile washboard dirt road. While we didn't opt for driving back in the dark, the sun does set here over The Forbidden Island of Ni`ihau. In the other direction, 20 minutes to the north and west, lies the fabled mists of a land called Hanalei, which did not disappoint; while 15 to 20 minutes further on we were transported to Tunnels and Ke`e Beach, Ha`ena State Park, and the relatively rugged Kalalau Trail. Because we visited during the first week of November, seasonally rough autumn seas and slightly early heavy rains prevented us from snorkeling on the north coast. A late, noonish start hiking landed us short of reaching Hanakapi`ai Falls; although we did manage to hike the rather steep, slippery first two miles of the Kalalau Trail, reaching what appeared to be the idyllic beach of legendary Taylor Camp. Good excuse to come back next year and hit the trail early, to make the full round trip.

While we spent more time adventuring and exploring than resting and restoring on this particular trip, Janet's authentic Hawaiian hale (home) is ideal for any of those purposes. If you've had enough of the sterile isolation of corporate resorts and you're ready to experience the authentic personality and heartbeat of Kaua`i, we highly recommend the Blue Moon Guest Room. Abundant Aloha!

  • We were fully satisfied. The house is very nice with a spacious kitchen. There is a beatiful garden around the house. The outside shower was great as well.

  • We spent an amazing time in Janet's house. We met Sunni, a friend of Janet, who took care of us during our stay. The house is lovely, the outdoor shower is perfect for a shower with a view of the stars. It's perfectly located on the North-East of the Island which is very convenient to drive to the best part of the Island: the North and to Lihue (airport and shops). The garden is full of flowers and fruits. The energy and spirituality of this location is in line with the experience we looked for in Kauai. I recommend this place.

  • Janet's communication was always prompt and Sunni was a helpful hostess. The bed was comfortable and it was only the darn roosters that kept us from getting a good night's sleep! The location is peaceful and lush, fairly handy to both the north and east shore. The house is comfortable and a nice place to relax. The husband was a little uncomfortable with the outside shower, as it was on a fairly well-traveled path and he was the only male on the premises and felt quite exposed, but I quite enjoyed it. The mosquitoes are not as bad here as some other places on the island, as I discovered later. I recommend this for an authentic Kaua'ian experience.

  • Janet's house is colorful, warm and inviting, nestled among lush greenery and tropical fruit trees in a small compound of dwellings. It has a rural, country feel to it but is only a short drive to the famous Mola'a fruit stand, the charming village of Kilauea, and many outstanding beaches. The guest bedroom is small but adequate and the shared bathroom was never a problem. Janet was away and I never met her, but she kindly arranged for her house sitter Sunni (who had been away on Maui) to fly in and arrive at the same time as me, so we could meet at the Lihue airport and drive to the house together. That was a real boon, as it would have been hard to find in the dark the first time there. I very much enjoyed my week staying in Janet's lovely home and would definitely visit again.
