"La Casa del Papiro" (The House of Papyrus) is a fully restored elegant home in historic Art Nouveau building able to comfortably accommodate up to 4 people.

This well-situated first-floor apartment is steps away from the Arethusa Fountain and walking distance to major historical sites including Piazza Duomo, Palazzo Bellomo and Tempio di Apollo.
The apartment has a large salon, sitting room with reading loft, eat in kitchen, large terrace, 2 full baths, a master bedroom and a full-height sleeping loft.
HOW TO REACH THE APARTMENT
AIRPLANE : If you are coming by airplane (destination airport : Catania), the best way is to use a bus from Catania Airport to the railway station of Siracusa (last stop), and then a taxi from the railway station to the apartment (10 minutes). The recommended bus company is INTERBUS, but you can also have a look at AST website in case the time table is not matching your needs.
TRAIN : If you are coming by train, the best way is to take a taxi from the train station, it will take around 10 minutes.
CAR : If you are coming by car, please be informed that Ortigia is a ZTL (Zone Traffic Limited), and that you cannot enter by car during the following days/time slots : Friday, from 8 PM to 2 AM (next day); Saturday and pre-holiday, from 4 PM to 2 AM (next day); Sunday and holiday, from 11 AM to 2 AM (next day).
During the previous time slots the access to the island is video-controlled and the 3 video-cameras are at the following address: bridge Santa Lucia (corner with Riva della Darsena), Via Vittorio Veneto (corner with Largo Forte San Giovannello), Via dei Mille (corner with Piazza Pancali).
WHERE TO PARK
If you can enter into Ortigia island (see CAR section above) it is possible to park the car in the streets around the building, but not in the yellow lines. If you cannot enter it is possible to either park the car for free out of the island (immediately before the bridge) and walk in, or use one of the 3 available toll parking (1 immediately before the bridge, 2 immediately after) which are all at walking distance from the apartment.

Interaction with guests
I will be always at your disposal during your stay but, since I am not living in the city, our contacts will be via phone, chat or e-mail. On the other hand my father will be always present in person to welcome you, to assist you in case of need, and of course to receive the keys back and check the apartment during your check out.
For a fluid communication I will be your reference for any need, and it will be up to me to be in contact with my father to take care of you.
CHECK-IN : Please communicate in advance your arrival time in order to allow us to properly welcome you. One hour before reaching the apartment please also send a text message to the number you have received at the moment of your reservation.
Please present your IDs or Passports at the check-in in order to allow us to register your data.
CHECK-OUT : Please communicate in advance your leaving time in order to arrange an appointment to return the keys and check the status of the apartment.
APARTMENT SECURITY : Please keep windows and balconies ALWAYS CLOSED when you are out.
ALARM SYSTEM : One big room of the apartment (not included in the pictures published) is not accessible and protected by an alarm system. During your stay we could need to access to this room; if so, guests will be notified ahead of time to schedule a convenient time.
INTERIOR CLIMATE : We recommend to use the heater and the air conditioning with care in order to avoid useless gas and electricity consumption. In particular please NEVER leave the air conditioning ON when out.
BATHROOM : Please do not throw toilet paper or anything else into the toilet bowl, just use the proper box.
In the smaller bathroom, please always switch on the fan when taking a shower, and switch it off when finished.
GARBAGE : Please do not leave the garbage inside the apartment, during your stay or when leaving. There are some green boxes close to the entrance of “Des Etrangers Hotel & SPA”; please use them after 6:30 PM.
MISCELLANEOUS : Please keep your personal belongings inside the apartment (not outside the door nor on the windowsills), and please do not introduce and connect any large electrical appliances.

After having lived for awhile in the apartments you see listed on AirBnB, I left my own town to move for professional reasons first to Bologna, then to Lyon, and finally to Brussels where I live since December 2014.
