The apartment is large, comfortable, clean and in a great location. There's even a pebble beach not 5 minutes from the apartment for an early morning swim. Cesare and his family have been extremely kind and attentive to our needs, really going out of their way to ensure we had a great holiday. Being in a very central area there is often loud music from the street at night (at least in high season), but that's the price to pay for beaing next to the Duomo square. However, the apartment has two bedrooms, and we slept comfortably in the smaller one (furthest from the street). Overall, we can heartily recommend it and we'd surely return if back in Siracusa.

Beautiful, historical home. Parents of host were lovely! Great arrival and instant support for any issues that came up through out our stay. Great place to stay with best location on the island. My family loved it!

The host left a little welcome pack of fruit, milk and cookies for us. The apartment was even better than the listing. The rooms were exceptionally well furnished and decorated. The walls were covered with beautiful paintings. It felt as if we were in a chateau. The kitchen was better equipped than my own. The apartment was situated quite close to the seafront. We were within a short distance of many good restaurants and bus stop. We made three visits to the nearby Mariano restaurant, which our host recommended. The food here was beautiful and very reasonably priced. The one drawback to this property is its close proximity to a Cafe Bar, which meant that there was a lot of on-street talking and laughing at night.

We spent a month in the apartment on the first floor of Via Giuseppe Maria Capodieci 45. It is a large comfortable, well-furnished apartment that is very close to the major sights of Ortigia (e.g. Fonte Aretusa, Piazza Duomo, Castello Maniace) but is still located far enough away that you are not bothered by tour groups. There is a small supermarket within walking distance and many restaurants from which to choose. When we had any difficulties, we were ably assisted by Gianluigi, Cesare's brother, and Giovanni, his father. In October, the weather was perfect and when it was hot outside, the air-conditioning inside made it very liveable. We can recommend the apartment unreservedly.

We loved our stay in Cesare's Ortigia home in Sept. Cesare (and his father) made everything very easy for us from start to finish. His home is charming and comfortable. The location is fabulous. In fact, everything about our time in Ortigia was just wonderful. There are two items to be aware of when renting this place. First, while the location is wonderful, it is on a very nighttime noisy mostly pedestrian street. The main bedroom fronts onto the action and can be very loud until past midnight with the windows open. For us, we learned not to mind the noise as it was just part of the local color. Second, the second bedroom is up a somewhat narrow and windy staircase. This, too, was not a problem for us but one should take extra care descending them for that middle-of-the-night bathroom run.

My family and I stayed in this wonderful place for four days and wished we could have stayed longer. Giovanni was such a warm, generous and interesting host who not only asked everytime we saw him if everything was ok, but shared the Rick history of the house and family which was fascinating. This set the standard very very high for Airbnb host with Ceasare prompt with communications and happy to make sure we were happy and comfortable even if the request was minor. Can easily recommend this as a place to stay in beautiful Ortigea and can't wait to return. Many thanks to you all.

This is an amazing place. You are at the heart of Ortigia which is one of the best places to visit in Sicily and definitely where to 'be' if you are in the area of Syracuse. The 'apartment' is more like a house which has been brilliantly restored (I think by Cesare's brother?)- I was only jealous not to have access to the whole of its magnificence as there is one room (understandably) reserved for the family's personals. The home is very very spacious and filled with history, art and antiques. You are footsteps (literally) from the mythological Fonte Aretusa and lots of lovely things (good food, yummy gelato, the main square with Caravaggio's burial of Lucy- and of course more). You do have to bear in mind that as you are in the heart of things, it can be lively at night (if you are not used to noise; but the second bedroom is truly silent) and that parking can be more than a challenge (you have to get Cesare to guide you clearly in to drop bags - and then park on the opposite side of the island (not a big deal if you are not too tired or have 'helpers' which is a 10-15 minute pleasant walk!) I only wished it had not had a car as you simply don't need one on the island and there are plenty of charming things to do and see. Unfortunately we had some pretty bad delays with our hire car and meant that it was far too late to impose on his lovely father who waited patiently for us and in the end, kindly drove us to the car when we departed - oh and it is all pretty much a one way system which means unless you know the ins and outs it is a full loop). So The place is perfectly situated, has all that you need and reminded me warmly of staying in the fantastic French Quarter in New Orleans: great art, some good music wafting around, some really good food and generally really nice folks. Particularly, the hosts.

After having lived for awhile in the apartments you see listed on AirBnB, I left my own town to move for professional reasons first to Bologna, then to Lyon, and finally to Brussels where I live since December 2014.

Travelling so much has helped me see the importance of staying in a place that feels like home or at least with a "personal" touch, which I found lacking in many of the hotels I stayed in during my own travels.

Having shared the philosophy of AirBnB since I first discovered it, my goal is to try to create for my guests the experience I would like for myself when travelling.

As I live abroad, I manage all the communication with guests while my family takes care of welcoming them and ensuring their needs are met during their stay.
