There is an entire floor available in our brand-new home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room. We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about a mile south of the trendy Hawthorne district, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities.
As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 3:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:00 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up.
We have an absurdly friendly cat who has the run of the house, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed. We also have a black Lab puppy who is incredibly mellow and friendly, and who does NOT have the run of the house just yet.
Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Of possible interest to those familiar with the ongoing discussion about how Airbnb fits into its hosts' local economies: we pay 11.5% of our Airbnb revenues toward the City of Portland's Transient Lodging tax, and another 1% toward the State of Oregon's Lodgings tax. Airbnb is not currently configured to allow hosts to collect these taxes above and beyond the basic room rate we charge, which means that those of us who are trying to do the right thing are paying out more than one-eighth (net of fees) of the money we earn to support local tourism.
You have a floor of your own, where your bedroom, bathroom and a sitting area are located. You are also welcome up a level, where the kitchen and our living room are situated. Bikey guests are welcome to park their rides in our garage.
We interact with our guests as much or as little as they want - we've connected brilliantly with guests who've had the time and inclination to chat us up, and we've had quite a few guests we never even met face-to-face! We are perfectly content to allow our guests to determine what kind of relationship they have with us.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
Public transportation in Portland is excellent! Not only does the light rail line run all the way to our wonderful airport, but the buses are all clean and on time, and the drivers are quite friendly and helpful. If you want to have wheels of your own so you can explore areas outside the city, that's great, but you don't have to have a car in town to get around comfortably and conveniently.
Clean and adequate basic accommodations; a few more simple amenities (like a second bedside light or a small desk in the sitting area) would have made our stay more comfortable and functional. Hosts were pleasant enough upon arrival but any other communications were perfunctory and we felt a little less welcome than some of the reviews suggest is typical. Our first time in Portland (nice city!). We had a car, and Brad and Becca directed us to some cool shops and resturants within a short drive, but there is not a lot of choice within walking distance.
Although we didn't get to meet Brad and Becca, we had a lovely time staying at their beautiful home and really enjoyed our stay and company from their wonderful cat. We we're tired after a few days of camping a night of seeing family and their home provided us with a hot shower and a comfortable bed. Everything was made clear and easy, from how to unlock the lockbox for the key and the wifi code. The location is wonderful; we were able to walk to Trader Joe's before heading to a cousin's for dinner and found a place for breakfast before we hit the road with ease. I wish we were able to stay longer and enjoy all they had to offer! Thanks for the great accommodations. I cannot recommend staying with them enough!
This was a really cool place to stay while visiting Portland. It served as the perfect base camp to explore downtown Portland and the surrounding neighborhoods. Its within walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and bars.
The house was very clean. My girlfriend and I had the bottom floor to ourselves, and a full kitchen and dinning area upstairs. I would definitely stay here again when traveling through Portland and would recommend it to anyone.
Brad and Becca were great hosts. There place is beautiful. We biked through most of Portland based on routes Becca gave us and Brad even let us borrow a head lamp as we forgot one at home.
I love love love how B & B have set up their BnB! The first floor (bed, bath, sitting area) are reserved for their guest. Second floor (kitchen, dining, living) is shared. Third floor is their private space. They are enthusiastic hosts, helpful and attentive.
On this trip I barely had time to grab a food cart meal and get a good night's sleep. I hope to return another time, when I might have a bit more time to enjoy the space and their hospitality.
Brad & Becca were wonderful hosts. There house was spacious, with a beautiful kitchen and plenty of space to relax. The house is also located near so many great activities, bars, breweries, etc. I would definitely make this my primary space to crash in Portland!
Brad and Becca were wonderful hosts. We were later than we had planned getting into Portland and Brad and Becca were accommodating and gave us a warm welcome. The house is new and very clean. The open layout of the house is exciting -- fun place to stay -- the house is open, yet our room was private. Well thought out. They thought of everything including bedside mints. The location is ideal to visit Reed and other parts of the SE side of Portland. We loved the businesses on Division St. and if you can find the sushi place on Bybee St., and can wait an hour, you will get the cheapest and best sushi in Portland! Just wish we could have stayed another night.
I thoroughly enjoyed staying my three nights in the Urban Treehouse. It's a great house with a separate floor for guests, including a bedroom, bath and sitting area. The location was great and I could come and go easily. Brad and Becca are available if needed. They are great hosts.
We were only in Portland for one night but Brad and Becca's beautiful house provided the perfect home base! Easy to get around by bus from here, easy street parking, pleasant neighborhood, LOVELY accommodations. And although we never ran into Becca since we were out and about and only there one night - Brad, thanks for your friendliness and welcoming attitude! We had a great time in Portland!
The reservation was canceled 80 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
