There is an entire floor available in our brand-new home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room. We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities.
As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 3:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:00 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up.
We have one friendly garage cat and one sweet young housecat you may meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have a black Lab puppy who is incredibly mellow and friendly and will meet you eagerly upon your arrival, but he spends his home time hanging out with us and doesn't wander much to the guest floor.
Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
You have a floor of your own, where your bedroom, bathroom and a sitting area are located. You are also welcome up a level, where the kitchen and our living room are situated. Bikey guests are welcome to park their rides in our garage.
Interaction with Guests
We interact with our guests as much or as little as they want - we've connected brilliantly with guests who've had the time and inclination to chat us up, and we've had quite a few guests we never even met face-to-face! We are perfectly content to allow our guests to determine what kind of relationship they have with us.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
Public transportation in Portland is excellent! Not only does the light rail line run all the way to our wonderful airport, but the buses are all clean and on time, and the drivers are quite friendly and helpful. If you want to have wheels of your own so you can explore areas outside the city, that's great, but you don't have to have a car in town to get around comfortably and conveniently.
We enjoy getting to know our guests, but we understand that most people who stay with us have plans that keep them occupied away from the house most of the time during their stay. What you can expect from us: we are pretty quiet and mellow and when we do entertain, festivities usually wind down by 11:00pm on the weekends. You are always welcome to hang out with us when we're relaxing at the homestead, but we will not be put out if you choose to do your own thing.
We really enjoyed our stay at Brad & Becca house, they are very friendly and we felt welcomed in their lovely home.
Brad has made a unique and crafty guide for they neiborhood, that we appreciated :-)
Their house is close to a lot of nice restaurants and small shops, special mention to Pok Pok (Thai delicious food).
And a very special thanks to Carlos & Diego, we miss you guys!
We are so glad we stayed at Brad and Becca's! I've never spent much time outside of downtown Portland when I've visited before. Brad and Becca's place was super close to lots of really great restaurants and shopping. Great location!
We arrived later than expected, but Brad still greeted us. Nice room, directly beside bathroom. Really unique hand-made guide in the living room. Awesome pets. Short walk to a bus stop which serves downtown, Greyhound and Amtrak stations. Enjoyable stay in a unique house.
Directions to the house and instructions on how to get in were very clear. The bus stops right outside. The room was very clean and comfortable and the dog and cat were incredibly cute.
Had a wonderful stay at Brad & Becca's. Unique but well-designed thus comfortable place made our stay in Portland even more colorful. A warm welcome from their lovely doggy and kitty definitely eased the fatigue of travel. Thank you!
We felt welcome to join Brad & Becca - or to do what we ended up doing - being busy with relatives in Portland from sun-up to bedtime. Their home was comfortable & in a good location for us. Thanks so much
The house was just as beautiful as the pictures and the hosts were great and super accommodating. They made it feel like a hotel with all our needs considered and taken care of.
We are a young married professional couple who have lived in Portland for over a decade. Brad has traveled the world, and we are both thrilled to have the opportunity to make our home available to other adventurous wanderers. Becca is a professionally-trained culinary hobbyist who makes a living as an accountant, and Brad loves his job as a high school teacher. We're into good vittles, ample coffee, riding our bikes, taking in plays, movies, and comedy shows, getting together with friends, and spending time together in our beautiful home.
We're happy to spend social time with our guests, but we have no problem leaving them to their own devices and plans if that's how they've structured their visit. We look forward to meeting you!
