In an apartment on the first floor of a home in Newton Centre, the guest bedroom is furnished with a full sized bed, comfortable mattress, and plenty of space for luggage and personal belongings. A shared bathroom is right down the hall, as is the kitchen and other rooms in the front part of the house. It is quiet in the back of the house and has its own thermostat, cable/wifi, a window A/C unit, and will come with sheets/towels, closet space, a dresser for your clothing, etc. Your room is always clean and private. It is two blocks from the Newton Centre Green Line T stop, plenty of buses, and all the shops and restaurants of Newton Centre. As well, it is very close to I-95, Route 9 or the Mass Pike. You're welcome to use the fridge and do some light cooking if you're stay will be lengthy. (Please note that the kitchen is Kosher style - and I do not allow shellfish or pork products in the house. Thanks!)
This apartment is perfect for commuting on the T for med school interviews around Longwood, celebrating graduations from the various Boston area colleges, attending conferences in the area, or sightseeing around town. It is less ideal for you if you plan to spend a lot of time hanging out at home, though you are always welcome in the main living space, too.
If you are looking for a place that looks and feels more like a hotel than someone's home, my apartment is not a good match for you.
I have a beautiful porch with an awesome adirondack chair; you are welcome to use the free laundry in the basement - with my detergent and dryer sheets; join me in the living room for silly tv shows.
Interaction with Guests
I am a very casual host and am in and out of the house during your stay, while occasionally working from home. I really appreciate coordinating morning showers and, as needed, use of the tandem drive way. (Bring a car, no problem!) FYI: I'm a busy professional and when I'm home, I hang out in the living room - and it very much looks like I live here, with stuff on the coffee table, etc.
I am happy to answer questions, chat, share a drink, or let you enjoy your own privacy in the back room. I look forward to meeting you!
No smoking or pets.
You're welcome to make yourself at home - I only ask that you be respectful of my belongings.
Thank you for respecting my kitchen requests!
My husband and I spent two nights at Jen's house in Newton Centre. She wasn't home when we stayed there, but she left the place very clean and we felt very much at home during our stay. It was easy to find, conveniently located, and the bed was comfy. What more could you want? :)
Jen's place was perfect for our long weekend in Boston! Great convenience to Newton Centre and the T which were both just a very short walk away. Jen was great with communications and getting us all set up and making us feel at home!
Jen was a great host! She was very gracious and welcoming. I felt at home and she was there to answer any questions. The room and place, in general, were clean. The kitchen was available for cooking and storage. She drove me to the store the first night so I could stock up on groceries, which was very helpful! The place was walking distance to the T, CVS, Sbucks, and some lunch places. Overall, a great experience and a great host!
The location was fabulous and easy to find. (near the T and Newton Centre). The host provided a place for my car to park for the night. The bedroom was as expected, clean and air-conditioned (needed). WiFi was also made available.
Jen was a friendly, generous and professional host. First off, I really appreciated how promptly she responded to my request to book her listing. She gave me a great base of operations and the freedom to move around. She was very helpful on several logistical and material fronts from advice about the neighborhood to extending me access to her pantry (an unsolicited and unexpected gesture). The accommodations were comfy / cozy and just what I needed. If the occasion calls I will definitely book with Jen again.
Jen was a great host. She was accommodating and quick to respond to all my inquiries. The room was sunny and cozy. I enjoyed my stay!
PRO'S: Host, Jen, is absolutely self-effacing and absent pretense. She's eager to help in any way possible and, too, grants complete privacy. The home is located in a lovely residential area, blocks from the T subway station and a brief walk leads to a Whole Foods, restaurants and ample shopping. The room is as it appears, decorated in a Spartan manner but with a comfy full size mattress/bed. One has access to the full floor of the downstairs townhome, including a bathroom and kitchen.
CON'S: Jen's general area (the other rooms) present as a bit cluttered and short on space. Kitchen and bathroom features are old-school (fully functional) but from the seventies or so.
