A calm oasis, yet right in the middle of town...
A choice of two lovely double bedrooms, both with private balconies overlooking a delightfully lush tropical garden.
The River View and Lotus View rooms are bright and clean. They offer air conditioning, wifi, daily housekeeping, breakfast and free tea, coffee and water.
A blend of modern facilities merge with traditional touches, such as beautiful hand-carved Balinese doors, colourful furnishings, a wardrobe with plenty of coat hangers and a western style bathroom.
The garden is on three levels as it goes down to the river. There are papaya and banana trees, jepun and hibiscus flowers, chili and aloe vera plants.
You walk down steps of the leaf-imprinted pathway, embedded with words such as 'harmony' and 'gratitude' to your room on the ground floor.
You can top up your tan on sun-loungers surrounded by pineapples, sugar cane and dragon fruit trees and relax while listening to the sound of the river and its small waterfall.
Or maybe sit on the bale (gazebo) with a cup of coffee and a book - it's a great place to meditate and we can even arrange an outdoor massage there for you, or provide you a mat for yoga under warm Balinese skies.
Although Rumah Jepun is set in a quiet and tranquil garden it is only 2 mins walk to the many shops, cafes, bars and spas along the busy Monkey Forest Road.
We are less than 10 mins walk to the enchanting Monkey Forest and less than 20 min walk from the famous Yoga Barn or the Ubud market and Palace.
We provide a folder that's full of useful information about activities around Ubud. So whether you're looking for culture, scenery, temples, yoga/meditation, alternative therapies, spas, art museums, adventure or just great shopping for unique handicrafts - we've got it covered.
This is all topped off with a wide range of restaurants, cafes, bars, traditional performances and great live music.
Bali is a tropical island so the weather tends to be warm, to hot, all year round, frequently reaching 30 deg c. So you might want to cool off in our neighbouring hotel's swimming pool for a small fee, alternatively the nearest beach is only about an hour away.
The volcano is approximately an hour away too - in the opposite direction! Maybe you want to go to the hot springs there?
We also provide a map of the Ubud area and can suggest and arrange tours and transport for you too (with a Balinese driver who speaks good English) - as well as an airport pick up, if you provide your flight details.
Our helpful, live-in, staff will give you the key and offer you a welcome drink. If we know your arrival time they can also help to bring your bags from the street to your room.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in the Lotus View Room at Rumah Jepun - the home of a poet (published in 'A Taste of Bali' and 'Life's Journeys') and two outdoor cats.
If this room isn't available try its sister room, River View Room: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/757039.
Note: the two rooms at Rumah Jepun are ideal for singles, couples or two friends who are happy to share a double room - they are not suitable for babies, children or people who have difficulty walking down steps.
We are looking forward to meeting you :-)

Sarah and I had a wonderful stay at your place! It's a great location because it's right in the heart of Ubud (Monkey Forest) but is still tucked away from the motorcycle filled streets. Within a walking distance (literally a minute) from restaurants, bars and shopping!
The place was kept so well and felt cozy, authentic AND modern at the same time. There was staff always at hand and they were helpful.
Thanks so much, Julie! I would def come back to stay here next time I come to Ubud!
I really enjoyed my stay at Julie's place! The room was clean, the breakfast was delicious and Julie and her staff were nice and helpful all the time. The folder containing informations about the area of Ubud which was provided in the room also was really helpful for me! I was really sorry that I didn't see Julie the day I left to tell her good bye and how much I liked it, but if come to Ubud again, I'll definetly book the Lotus View Room again :)
Lovely and tranquil spot! Beautiful grounds and friendly atmosphere. Fresh fruit and tropical flowers abound.
I stayed at Julie's house for almost one week and had such a great experience! My room was very clean and spacious. Location of the house is great as you right in the center of Ubud, but its still very quite and away from the main road. Julie is very knowledgeable and gave me a lot of advice and tips what to do in Ubud. Staff is great and they would make a delicious breakfast. I would definitely stay at Julie's house again when I am back to Ubud!
I thoroughly enjoyed a week at Rumah Jepun. Perfect location in Ubud and an oasis away from the main street. The room was very clean and spacious and the internet connection was good. Julie and her staff couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. I felt very relaxed and at home here, enjoying many wonderful recommendations by Julie (be sure to visit Sedona spa), great chats, live music and a random game of Uno ; ) I will definitely be back and look forward to it.
Julie was the perfect host! Even before I arrived, she provided me with useful information and arranged for transportation from the airport. She made thoughtful recommendations about local food, performances, activities, and my (now) favorite spa, Sedona...but above all, it was her warm personality and genuine interest in making my stay comfortable and interesting that won me over!
The villa is nicely situated in the heart of Ubud, yet tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Monkey Forest Road and engulfed in a beautiful garden. The staff was friendly and helpful, and cooked delicious breakfast with a strong Balinese coffee in the morning. I would highly recommend staying with Julie in Rumah Jepun.
Stayed here for 4 days, and it was amazing. The location is great, and the accommodation itself is really nice. Plus, Julie and her staff were so friendly and helpful (for example, she invited us to a fun storytelling event at a cool bar on our first night). Highly recommended!
Julie is an amazing host who knows almost everybody in the area so she can introduce you to a lot of interesting people. The accomodation itself is a peaceful quiet spot in a beautful garden yet close to all the action. Julie is very helpful and she will come up with original ideas of what to do and where to go. Definitely a must go!
I had a fabulous stay with Julie on Christmas day in 2013. Despite booking at the last minute, Julie not only welcomed me to Rumah Jepun but also invited me to join her neighbors for a Christmas party upon my arrival! Julie was also full of information about the best places to eat, drink, and relax in and around Ubud. The room was clean and spacious, with a terrace overlooking the beautiful garden. The location was ideal: right on Monkey Forest road close to numerous shops and restaurants, but set back enough from the street to ensure a peaceful night's sleep. Breakfast, tea, and coffee were included and served on my terrace. Overall I had a fabulous stay with Julie and would highly recommend her to anyone traveling to Ubud!
Affordable and ideally located in the center of Ubud, this is a great place to stay for a single traveller or a couple. Julie is full of good recommendations, and the local staff is extremely nice. Gede's pisang goreng with coffee is as good as breakfasts gets.
