Other Things to Note
Check-in is from 3-5:30 pm. If your arrival time is outside of these hours then you *must* inform us so that we can make alternative arrangements for collection of the keys.
Please give us your approximate arrival time so that we can know when to expect you. It always helps to know when we can expect people!
When you arrive, please come to our main building at number 50 Middle Abbey Street for check-in. We are located directly opposite the main entrance to Arnotts department store, just look for the light green house with the orange door.
Ring the bell when you arrive; if I don't answer within a minute or two, just go next door to The Abbey Hotel and ask them to ring me.
There is no smoking allowed in our apartments as it is illegal in Ireland. If a smell of smoke is detected upon check-out then you will lose your deposit.
The flat was in a great location, a few minutes walk from temple bar but without lots of noise! The bed was really comfy and the lounge/kitchen area was very spacious.
Nancy helped out with some advice of the city and gave great directions to find them! Unfortunately we had a few problems with the shower (there wasn't enough water pressure for it to run), and it took about 30 minutes for us to run the bath. We emailed about the problems on Friday and unfortunately they weren't resolved for the 3 days (2 nights) we were there. The kitchen was also missing quite a lot of kitchen equipment that we were expecting (there being no cutlery is one example), and the flat smelt of smoke despite it advertising as non-smoking. If these things were resolved then we'd definitely stay there again!
Kevin & Nancy were wonderful hosts & the Apartment / Location was amazing. We had a fabulous time ... thank you all !
The apartment was spacious for two and located right by all the major attractions in Dublin (Temple Bar, Trinity College, Christ Church, etc). For anything farther away, the red line Luas stop is right around the corner and there are loads of buses that stop nearby. The space was clean and we loved having a full kitchen to make meals. Kevin and Nancy were very accommodating and thoughtful. We needed an extra night stay and Nancy was quick to respond and make it happen for us. Kevin met us to check in and showed us around the whole apartment to make sure we knew how everything worked. Wonderful hosts!
The flat was clean and suitable for a short, one night stay. Kevin checked us in and he was fantastic. We had three adults and the description says there is a double sofa bed; however, when we checked in we were told the sofa double bed didn't work so one adult had to sleep on the small single sofa bed. There are two beds in the bedroom but our particular situation did not make it so that all of us could stay in the same bedroom.
The building is secure but the area around it was a little questionable. There were three homeless individuals sitting outside asking for money when we left for dinner and when we came back and one of them kept peeking inside the outer door (which locks and is secure) when we opened it. It's also next to a lot of pubs/restaurants so it is a bit loud at night.
I tried to communicate with Nancy to let her know we were arriving Dublin around 2:00 PM and to ask if a slightly early check in would be OK. I never heard back from her so we took a chance and showed up. Luckily, Kevin was there to check us in. The flat would be OK for 1-2 adults for a 1-3 night stay.
Great night at Nancy's! She gave us great directions for the cab and let us keep store our bags so we could sightsee until the apartment was ready.
Apartment is in a great location, close to everything we wanted to do in Dublin. Beds and pull-out beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well-appointed. It was a bit warm the nights we were there so we opened the windows. The people at the Gin Palace bar across the street chatted outside quite late, but that's city life.
Nancy and Kevin were excellent hosts, very responsive to my many emails/texts. Picked up the keys at their office is 1/2 block away and they were able to add parking for me at the last minute.
All in all, a very positive experience.

About the Host, Kevin
My name is Kevin Gilroy and I am the manager and owner of Dublin 1 Apartments. I with my new assistant Alicia wish a warm welcome to all of our guests. I am a fun-loving, easy going host who loves having guests come stay at my self-catering holiday apartments in the very heart of Dublin's city centre.
I have a great knowledge of the local area having spent all my life in Dublin and can easily direct you to the best places to eat, drink and be merry. The nightlife (i believe) in Dublin is lots of fun and simply cannot be missed! I often form a great relationship with my guests and have even been known to go out with them for a pint or two in the local pub The Gin Palace.
Come stay with us and see what all the fun is about!
