Very close to the volcano which was very convenient. Clean and private place to stay. Note that there is nothing to do in volcano except visit the volcano so we felt a little isolated especially when it was raining and we weren't sure what to do. Internet is very spotty and was completely unavailable for long stretches of time.
The cottage was somewhat off the beaten path but easy to get to with Brenda's instructions. Everything was just as pictured. Very clean, peaceful and relaxing. There was a nice binder with a map and information on the local stores and restaurants. It's just a few miles outside of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park so this is a great place to stay if you plan to explore there during the day. We will definitely stay here again if our travels bring us back to the Big Island.
The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed. Stayed one night after a full day at the national park so we could go back in and see the volcano at night. It is a bit remote, but follow the given directions and had no problems finding it.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Brenda's place. The cottage is close to Volcano National Park and Volcano village where you can find a few restaurants. But if you want to cook, buy your groceries at Hilo. We found everything we needed in the cottage to cook. It is a quiet place. There was pancake mix and an excellent coconut syrup in the fridge for the breakfast (but no fresh fruits and no homemade bread as I read on some other reviews !) I really recommand this place for a visit to Volcano National park.
My husband and I stayed at Bamboo View Cottage in mid February, 2014. The overall experience was great. The cottage is located about 10 min drive from the Volcano National Park and about 30-40 min from the Hilo Airport. We did grocery shopping in Hilo because there are no real grocery stores in the neighborhood. The kitchen is well equipped.
The only downside to us was too soft mattress in the cottage and we could not get good night sleep for the first night. Overall it is an excellent value for the price.
This secluded cottage was a great place to stay for visiting Volcano National Park and other parts of the Big Island. The cottage has plenty of space and, best of all, is a real bed AND breakfast. We were supplied with milk, juice, delicious fresh fruit, homemade banana bread, and farm fresh eggs among other goodies. An excellent value!
We stayed at the Bamboo View Cottage for 8 days.
We were pleasantly surprised to find a wide variety of breakfast foods freely available including 2 baskets of fresh fruit.
The cottage itself was so comfortable that we stayed in the whole day twice and just relaxed with a good book.
As we were without a vehicle, Brenda and Bob drove us to the Volcano National Park twice and always made us feel welcome.
They also shared a few gems of wisdom about volcano and what we were interested in.
Thank you Brenda and Bob !

The cottage was lovely, clean and comfy. We had fruits, eggs and banana bread, all yummy. It was secluded, but close to volcano. We had a good time.
Delightful stay. Welcoming as soon as you turn into driveway with pretty plants, again in porch entrance with blooming flowers, and in the cottage with filled vases throughout. Very attractive, very neat and very clean, decorated enough to look homey, but not crowded to look 'busy.' Prompt, helpful communication while registering--directions, hints, etc.. Lovely bird song (OK--a rooster too!) wake you up to take advantage of a full day. Healthy & attractive breakfast. Great shower. Another thoughtful touch: a nice assortment of brochures for the area. Very well done, and very affordable. We've already sent a family to stay there. The Smith Family--three generations.
The Volcano bamboo view cottage is very conveniently located close to the Hawaii volcanoes national park. It is a beautiful cottage surrounded by tropical rainforest. Brenda had provided us with some very tasty banana bread and papayas. The cottage was very comfortable. There is a convenience store in the town of volcano but we picked up most of our breakfast needs from Hilo. The rainforest and the national park did get a lot of rain during our visit so pay heed to Brenda's advice of packing enough rain gear. We had wifi at the cottage, which made things convenient.
Thank you Brenda!
