I did not have a good experience here. Given the title "Not the Ritz" I honestly did not expect TOO much in the way of luxury, but when I GOT there I wasn't prepared for how bad it actually WAS. Initially I ended up having to kill a roach that first night and just gave the benefit of the doubt that hey, everyone gets a pass especially since Airbnb locations aren't always occupied consistently. A few hours later as I was working (I was there on business participating in a pop up shop not too far away, so I had some late night sewing to do) I noticed out the corner of my eye a roach climbing up the wall towards a picture the owner has hanging. Of course I jumped up to kill IT before it found its way into the bed or worst yet my BAG. After that roach sighting all of the "graces" I'd been extending this listing were out of the picture. From that moment (all before my first night was over) I decided it best to sleep with the lights on. Of course from this point I was hyper sensitive to everything in the house including all of the cobwebs and dust that had accumulated. Initially I chocked this up to just being an older house. It wasn't until I had to move the coffee table back to where it was after I'd finished sewing that I saw clumps of hair (that weren't mine or the guest I had in the listing either) that I realized that it was just a matter of lack of care in preparing this location for new guests. With the work I was there for I spent most of the day on location selling so most of my time spent here was in the late evenings and then out early morning. However it wasn't until Sunday morning when I went to fix the bed I had slept in that I noticed a stain near the foot of the bed on the linens...and then got to inspecting the rest of the linens and found a stain on the comforter as well. With only hours left on this 3 night listing I was over it and just ready to go. It wasn't until speaking with a friend who came out to the pop up that day that I realized that I did indeed have options. I am currently in the resolution process with Airbnb in regards to my experience here. I'm not sure how to post pics in the comments but I have them and anyone reading here needing to see them before booking is more than welcomed to reach out to me and I can provide them. In a nutshell...maybe others' experiences might have been positive, but mine was NOT. Maybe the owner dropped the ball with our stay or it could just be that's how it always is. I am no where near pleased though. The pics do NOT represent...

N.T.R. was spacious and great for our weekend getaway. Jay was informative about the area and even gave us a few suggestions for food/drinks. The area provided us easy access to the rest of town.

Jay was very quick in his response rate and even let us book his apartment the night before our arrival. The apartment was very spacious and the area felt safe.

Jay's house was on a quiet block not far from the French quarter and downtown NOLA. Spacious and had a great entertainment center. There was, however, the neighbor's dog which roamed the property one night and was rather aggressive with my mother and I.

Easy to find and set up well. Bedroom was toasty. Solid Netflix and Hulu movie selection! Surprisingly safe. Would stay there again for the price.

Jay was a great host and very friendly. I came to New Orleans with some friends for the first time to celebrate my birthday and Jay was very flexible with the check in times. He met us on the property and gave us suggestions on different activities that we could do during our stay. Jay was very responsive when we had a question. Jay spot was a perfect place to stay and close to everything and it was nice and clean. I would stay at Jay's place again hands down.

I'm a proud born & raised New Orleanian who loves meeting new people, exchanging interesting stories, cheering on the Saints (Who Dat?), and simply having a good time. I believe there is humor in nearly all we do. I'm well traveled, outgoing and friendly really look at my pics lol!I have walked the stairs of the Acropolis in Athens; tasted a grain of sand at the base of the Pyramids on the Gaza Strip; tossed a U.S penny off the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris; and partied all night in Bangkok like a hip-hop mogul with $80. I have gotten lost in Rome; hitchhiked a ride to Vatican City; eaten coca leaves and enjoyed the beer in Bogota; and had jerk chicken and Red Stripe in Montego Bay. I watched the Saints (NFL) play & win in the New Wembley stadium in the United Kingdom. I have sailed the canals of Amsterdam; partied in Cancun and rode scooters & snorkled in Cozumel and almost got hustled by a cabbie in San Jose, CR. Lastly, I survived Mardi Gras in NOLA w/ no hangover...Amazing! As a Airbnb host, I look forward to extending "The Big Easy" experience to my guests. Stay at The Monte Cristo or The Casa Blanca (Located directly next door). Check them out I might just have the space for you.
