About This Listing
Zen-like getaway for 1 – 4 people provides a retreat from life's busyness. Big yard and seasonal botanica invite outdoor dining and luxuriating; a fire pit and available firewood offer an agreeable way to release the inner caveman or to allow fire and smoke to ceremoniously boot out old habits and thoughts. (A gas grill stands by to assist the more modern caveman). In cooler months, inspirational books invite quiet reflection and provide a spiritual kickstart—and the calm that encourages visits by resident turkeys or deer. Lay your own tracks in one of two park cross-country ski trails a stone's-throw away.
On warmer days, walk or bike a few blocks to beautiful Lake Phalen and surrounding regional park from which two major hiking and biking trails extend north-south and east-west. (Two bikes available for your use.) Buy bait from the nearby gas station, rent a rowboat, and score some walleye, tiger muskies, northern pike, largemouth bass, crappie or sunfish. Both lakeside and private tree-surrounded picnic sites beckon with historic oaks and beautiful new pavilions (Coolers available to tote your favorite meal or beer--3.2 is the park's limit on alcohol content). For the enlightenment which only little white balls on big grassy expanses can ignite: neighboring Keller Golf Course with its historic course and PGA clubhouse pics (it was a regular stop on the PGA tour for decades) will challenge and delight, 2 other courses less than 2 miles away provide "backup".
My bright, comfy kitchen with its whole foods cookbooks and organic cooking staples provides the essentials for quality cooking (and eating) and is the heart of a arty-quirky-cabin-themed home with its collection of interesting antiques and artifacts collected during my stint as a New York-based photo stylist and interior designer.

Judith's house was wonderful! So easy and relaxing to stay in, with everything to hand in the home and the house is in a quiet location surrounded by trees and green spaces. Her house was spotlessly clean, simply but tastefully decorated and we were pleasantly surprised to find that it is much bigger inside than it seems in the photo. All three (adults) of us were very comfortable. Everything worked well and Judith had taken great care to leave notes about how to operate machines, where to find things, etc. We felt very much at home in Judith's house and can well imagine returning - perhaps for a longer visit!
Thank you so much for our stay at your house! It was a wonderful time with all the details! So sweet, clean and relaxing. We felt very comfortable and could enjoyed our days there. Thank you!
Our stay at Judith's Zen Getaway home in St. Paul, Minnesota was wonderful.
It was everything Judith had described. The house was extremely well appointed and very comfortable. The home and the beautiful yard reminded us of the family cottage near the lake in Northern Minnesota. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful, exactly what we were looking for. We particularly enjoyed the quaint kitchen and dining area. The new deck off of the living room was very accommodating for morning coffee and late afternoon lounging. Judith is an excellent host; very responsive and concerned for your comfort and needs. We hope to come back to this property in the near future.
